Eargasm! I believe that’s the word. One of my PTX favourites. They all look so beautiful and sound heavenly! At the moment though, I can’t stop listening to “Seasons of love”. It’s one of their latest which I’m sure you will get to one day.
It's OK to call them a band because that's what they call themselves. In case you didn't know, Pentatonix actually got their start on a competition singing show, The Sing Off, which was an a cappella contest on NBC that ran from 2009 thru 2014. Pentatonix won the 2011 season. You don't have to know the original to enjoy a Pentatonix cover. Most of their covers are songs that I would have never listened to if they hadn't done them. We Pentaholics always say Pentatonix doesn't do covers, they do UPGRADES. BTW, they have a LOT of great originals too. Their latest album is made up entirely of original songs and it is a masterpiece.
I highly suggest that when you do "Gold", that you go watch the original from Kiara first. It will really bring home the magic that PTX does with songs. 😊
Yes, definitely! Seeing what the original artist uses digital electronic effects and sampling/keyboard playback to do, and then watching Mitch perform it live without even breaking a sweat. It's one of my favorites.
Besides the amazing arrangement and singing, the video drops you into a 1950's Cuban nightclub manager's office. And all the music just reinforces the feeling.
I think this is one of the most underrated of all the PTX performances. I really love it and creating the feeling of a Latin location and mood is so very well done.
Another great reaction and I always appreciate your personal comments to give us a better understanding of who you are. I have read all of the comments to this point and I see several suggestions to the PTX original, "Sing". I have mentioned that song in previous comments and would also recommend it as your next reaction. Also, I see a couple references to "Seasons of Love". This is a song from the Broadway Musical, "Rent", and PTX had released their cover of it on their 2020 "We Need a Little Christmas" album, but had not released a video. Last week they performed it live on the 4th of July PBS special, "A Capitol Fourth". TH-cam channel. "Capitol Concerts" has a video of it and it is spectacular. Kristin leads most of the way and is fantastic, highly recommended. Keep up the great reactions, looking forward to your next PTX reaction.
The medleys are kind of their thing. They have a bunch of them. To me, they're the first music al group to really work social media - they were really popular before they released their first album. They had great covers and medleys, and, by the time they did release an album, they had a huge following already. In other words, they're smart as well.
For me this song is forever linked to the movie Dirty Dancing 2, Havana NIghts, with Diego Luna and Romola Garai. Mya really aced the vocals and I loved the song immediately. Pentatonix, in true form, has elevated it even further. Such a great, sexy Latin rhythm. As you say, they all look terrific, but Kirstie's Latina is all over it!
Molly Bee: ""Is that the end? It's the end??" *sad, dejected sigh* Me: Yeah, I always feel that way about their covers. Also Me: I can't wait until you listen to their versions of "Perfect" and "My Favorite Things"
Happy Now and Come Along are my two favorite upbeat songs that they have 💖 and Happy Now is an original, not a cover, if you were curious what they can do on their own :)
Love your reactions, you have an incredibly engaging on camera persona and it makes for very entertaining reaction. For more upbeat PTX songs, Come Along is a great one, Sing (an original), I love Na Na Na and Ref among others (no music videos sadly), but both originals and great songs. Love Again is also a great one and another original. They are so talented! And I laughed about the cat! I'm a cat person, and would love it if you were able to introduce her to us at some stage (if she wants, of course :-) ).
You really should listen to some Pentatonix originals - Happy Now, Coffee in Bed, or Be My Eyes are recent - Sing, Love Again, or Run to You are older. Or Come Along is a cover but unfamiliar to almost everyone who hears it.
The cat was annoyed the PTX video was already over. 😉 I very much enjoy your reactions, keep them coming. Some more upbeat suggestions from the PTX catalogue that make me want to dance: Can't Hold Us, Blinding Lights, Love Again (an original), Happy Now (original too), Sing (another original).
You look like you could use a slow Rumba, totally with your smoky eyes. That actually was a Flugelhorn, it's a mellow sound to the brassy trumpet. Check out La La Latch it's a mash up and it really shows Kevin and Kirsten.
So quickly over!!! Camila version is also good as well as entertaining. It still just sometimes melts my mind that they do this with no instruments. Otherworldly talented. Great reaction you!! LOL the cat!!
I wonder if this group could tackle early 70's FM main-stay 'Whipping Post' by the Allman Bros. Band? It would definitely stretch them but it would be a feather in their caps to pull off something like this. If anybody has Pentatonix's ear, mention it to them.
I use the word group, but that's just my preference. You can call them group or band, it wouldn't bother me. Smooth Mitch, soulful Scott, spicy Kirstin, velvety Matt and uber talented Kevin! These guys can't do anything wrong in my opinion! I don't know any other songs by Camila Cabella either. This was it for me! You are just so pleasing and soothing to listen to. Thank you for your reaction and just being you! I wasn't sure if that was a cat or a child at first! Would like to see the kitty on one of your reactions!
Maybe you heard of Camila as part of the group called Fifth Harmony. Or, you may have heard of her after she left the group. In the first half of 2019, Camila did a duet with Shawn Mendes, a song called 'Senorita`, which can be found on Shawn's YT channel. That was a HUGE hit for both of them (great song PLUS the MV is STEAMY AS HELL) and they were on an award show singing (and dancing) on stage in front of everybody. If you react to that one, bring some ice water, you will need to cool down... Luv ya!
Thanks for the PTX reaction--a cappella music can be truly compelling. One of the best a cappella groups around is "Voctave." Umm, you're young enough to have favorite Disney princesses, true? Ariel, Mulan, etc., bring smiles to many fans. Try YT video: "Disney Princess Medley - Voctave" Voctave also does a medley of Disney love songs featuring Kirstin from PTX--YT video: "Disney Love Medley (feat. Kirstin Maldonado & Jeremy Michael Lewis)"
"Supposed" to be a trumpet??? Sorry @MollyBee, in my eyes( or ears!) that WAS a trumpet. You see, my philosophy on hearing music by PTX is to just close your eyes and let the good times roll! 😎
@@kenslaughter00 Your opinion of course and for most of their covers, I may agree with you but in this case I have to say..no...and that's my opinion. Ptx version was brilliant as usual of a really good and catchy song! The original video is fun and more entertaining than this version, you have to admit, that is...if you actually watched it. Hey..I'm a pentaholic too and I love their stuff but I'll give credit where credit is due
I think I prefer the original to this one. One thing I'm glad they did was sing the rapping part I'm not a huge fan of the rapper in the original. I recommend checking out Voiceplay Boy bands in 5 minutes really enjoyable
I think the original video by Cabello is fun: th-cam.com/video/BQ0mxQXmLsk/w-d-xo.html Also, there's probably a story about her name: Cabello is "hair" in English.
Molly, I tell it the hard way. If you as a musician are not enslaved by the American music industry, you wont be played on the radio stations. If any station would play a independent musician, they could close down very fast, because they would be boycotted. You know what I mean. Stay save Dear.
Did you ever watch the original, as you'd planned? In my opinion, I think the Pentatonic version is more smooth, but the original is more sexy. If you haven't watched it yet, you can find it on Camilla Cabello's channel: th-cam.com/video/BQ0mxQXmLsk/w-d-xo.html .
You may have been exposed to the song, as it's performed in the background of a number of different movies and episodes of TV shows. You rarely get the whole song, as it's *strictly* running in the background, like in a dinner-club scene or somebody is playing a recording of it in a scene - something like that.
My favorite upbeat, uplifting, get up and dance song of theirs is actually an original called Sing. You'll enjoy it for sure!
They just released a live performance of Rent’s Seasons of Love. It’s so good, especially Kirstin. I love catching their live performances
Eargasm! I believe that’s the word. One of my PTX favourites. They all look so beautiful and sound heavenly! At the moment though, I can’t stop listening to “Seasons of love”. It’s one of their latest which I’m sure you will get to one day.
Band is the word Pentatonix uses to describe themselves.
PTX Cheerleader always puts a smile on my face and that doesn’t come easy.
I'm the same way with PTX's Sing.
It's OK to call them a band because that's what they call themselves. MUST see original first so you can see why she will never sing this again!
Yes, definitely watch the original for this one in particular....very important so you can see how amazing they are with this cover.
Scott has referred to the group as a "band," so I think you're golden.
Mary did you know is my fav Ptx song
Love their cover, they sound and look beautiful.
Crazy to have such a great rhythm track without instruments. I forget sometimes it’s a cappella ✌️💚
Love your reaction to video . Draw a list of their videos and throw a dart. They're all good.
Besides the amazing arrangement and singing, the video drops you into a 1950's Cuban nightclub manager's office. And all the music just reinforces the feeling.
Remember, Pentatonix doesn't do covers. They do upgrades.
I think this is one of the most underrated of all the PTX performances. I really love it and creating the feeling of a Latin location and mood is so very well done.
Enjoy your reviews. You express yourself and views of the music very well. Always look forward to the next PTX review. Hope you have a great journey.

That's awesome
I rarely hear, much less listen to, "new" music. Most of PTX's covers have been new music to me. :)
SICK dragon tats! Anyways, super fun reaction. Love these guys so much. Glad to see you're sticking around reacting to more! Cya next time!
Happy Now and Come Along are my two favorite upbeat songs that they have 💖 and Happy Now is an original, not a cover, if you were curious what they can do on their own :)
Kevin actually plays trumpet and cello very well (on the actual instruments haha).

Just awesome Molly!

Best term I found is "Vocal Band"
Next: PTX Sound of Silence or Amazing Grace!
Love, love the dragon tats!

I love Molly
They refer to themselves as a band.
Yup, a cappella can be called a vocal band.
❤❤❤❤
She doesn't know the original. Starts four minutes in..
I just saved you four minutes of your life.
..
They call themselves a band.
You should also react to Diana Ankudinova - Havana - cover.
:)
Try vocal band. That works for me.
MOLLY! Pet your cat, then buy some good headphones, then listen to GOLD!😄 You're missing out without headphones 🎧!
They are considered a vocal band.....
"Supposed" to be a trumpet??? Sorry @MollyBee, in my eyes( or ears!) that WAS a trumpet. You see, my philosophy on hearing music by PTX is to just close your eyes and let the good times roll! 😎
Band of singers as valid as a band of thieves
Show us the cat 😻
Hi Molly🤗⚘😎
When you compare a Pentatonix cover to the original, the original usually comes up short.
...but not in this case. Pentatonix version is great as is the original...
@@mjcole12 - I think the Pentatonix version is considerably better than the original. Same as most of their covers are.

If you can have a band of brothers, why not a band of singers?

Camilla Cabello
Could have got another tatt before that intro was over
A BAND of thieves most likely doesn't play instruments, so I don't see any reason not to call them a band!
