Hi Melanie! I'm loving your videos, I'm waiting for my replies from the unis to start up in September and your blogs helps us to have an insight into the foreign students' life in France, thanks!
Hey Nelson ! Around this time last year I was doing the same and felt pretty alone and helpless in the process, so I’m glad to be able to give a little sight ☺️
I was originally just going to go to Paris for a gap year after getting my bachelors, but now decided to do a masters and get a student visa. Do you know the restrictions of working on a student visa, and is being an au pair possible?
Hey! Thank you for the super informative and helpful video!! Did your bachelor's have any relation to what you studied for your masters? I studied English in college but am wanting to pivot to IT/computer science for masters in France. We'll see how that goes haha. Best.
Hey! Just found your channel and love your videos :) just found out I’m going to study abroad in Bordeaux for a year! Could you make a video ab your French speaking? I’m kind of lower intermediate atm, but I learn outside of my uni degree. Wanna work on improving before I get to France bc I really wanna be able to make friends easily 😬❤️

hey Melanie! :) I am currently applying for my master's in Toulouse and I found your videos sooo helpful!! Thank you so much for it and keep going! I would like to ask you something about interviews. Did you have interview with schools which you applied particulary? merci bcp

Hi Melanie :) your videos are so helpful and I'm currently in the process of finalizing my motivational letters for my applications! Obviously moving to France for a master's program is a huge risk (that I'm obviously very excited to take) but I'm really worried I won't be accepted into my programs... what has been your experience with that? Hey Livia ! So glad to hear that I could be of help :))) If I remember correctly, 3 accepted, 2 rejected, 1 never responded 😂 I would recommend applying to schools in all 3 of these categories : reach, comfort zone, and backup schools, so you can guarantee getting into at least 1 :)

Hey! I'm interested in getting a Bachelors in France but I'm a bit confused on how the levels work. Do I just apply to specific Levels like L1, L2, L3 as I go along my studies? It's really different from the US system haha
Yeah, Bachelor's programs are called Licence in France and they only last three years. If you want to start at the L1 level (first year), then apply for L1 programs.
Hi ! this video was so helpful. One question though, Do you know if having a degree that lasted 5 years in any other country also counts, so that you can go to the M2 ? Thanks
Yes! normally it would count. Since the "license" (degree before master) in France is 3 years, if you have a degree that lasted anymore than that, then you should be able to go directly into M2. But you should also check with the schools and their specific policy, they usually have that info somewhere on the admissions page :)
Hello ! So far I’ve only finished my first year :) But last I was informed, you’re supposed to be able to get a long term permanent residence if you manage to find a job (CDI) that will sponsor you for it !
for programs that are taught in english, should you translate your documents to french, or is english good by default? thanks so much for this video, you're so helpful!
Did you have an application fee for Campus France in 2021? I know this video is 3 years old... but I'm seeing the application fee is 430 USD. That is more than the tuition of the actual school.... which I realize that THAT is not expensive... as an american... but a 430$ application fee??
Hi, I’m a student in the US thinking about studying in Math/Neuroscience in France for Masters/PhD but I’ll most likely eventually come back to the US to settle in the tech industry. Do you think that’s a bad idea? Personally the research opportunities in the grad program has intrinsic value to me so I know it won’t increase my potential salary or anything like that.
Hello and thank you for the video! Does campus France offer fully funded scholarships? Kindly can you provide us with more details about this. Thank you.

Hi Melanie, I just stumbled across this video as I am currently in the process of applications to French masters programs. How much time did it take to get through the process to get approved through campus france/etudes en france and to get your visa situation all figured out? I ask because I officially sent my full application through etudes en france in the middle of december, and one of the agents said he/she would get in touch to go over my application. I emailed in mid January to follow up because I didn't receive anything. The agent responded that he/she would contact me very soon for a phone interview. I just sent a message a few days ago because I still haven't received anything. I know I submitted my application months before the deadline so I should be ok, it's just stressful always being in the dark. Just wondering if you had a similar experience, I remember the administrative stuff being more stressful than my classes during my study abroad year.
Hey Brad ! I very much indeed had the same experience of being stressed in the dark for months 😂 I had the phone call with the CF agent sometime in April, even though I had submitted my app months before, so maybe it’ll be the same for you :) And then another 2-3 months of waiting in the dark for the visa. You’re right the administrative process is horrible, my advice is to just let it go and trust that in the end it will all work out, no matter how long it takes and feels like nothing is ever getting done, as long as you did everything you’re supposed to do. Bon courage 🙂
hey this is helpful! for some weird reason the language section still says incomplete. I am from the UK so I don't need IELTS. I am not sure what documents they want me to upload. Also the personal statement is only 2500 characters long which is less than what I wrote! Lastly, did you apply for any bursary or scholarship for international students?
Hey ! If I remember correctly, I just left the language section incomplete and assumed they would look at my US diploma and figure it out. And yesss I remember I wrote a whole ass nice essay and had to redo it and cut so many parts to fit the character limit 😩 I did not apply for any scholarship but the school offered me a waiver for the new international tuition so I could pay the same amount as french students. Glad I could be of help :)
Hey Monica, I'm not sure what the French system recognizes the american associate's degree as. I've never read any official rule on it so you might have to contact the school(s) you want explaining your particular case and see what they say ! Sorry I can't be more helpful than that :(
