Fun fact: The people behind the movie told Patrick Swayze he wasn't allowed to do the skydiving because they wouldn't be able to get the insurance on the movie if it was him instead of a stunt person. He said "ok" but then on that day, he said screw it Im doing it anyway and Patrick did the skydiving scene himself in 1 take because he knew it was the only chance he was gonna get to do it.
The Devil's Advocate, Constantine and A Scanner Darkly are also so good! Hope you do them as well. Point Break is an absolute classic! One of my all time favorites!

Great reaction to this classic movie, guys. Bodhi didn't make an effort to surf the wave at the end. He had basically made up his mind to commit suicide and he took a dive on his way down. As he said to Johnny "just let me catch one wave before you take me". He didn't plan on being around after that first wave.

Saw this movie on the big screen multiple times. It was amazing-especially the skydiving scene. People who weren't around back then don't get what a big deal it was for Keanu Reeves. After "Bill and Ted", Keanu himself was perceived to be Ted in real life. Everyone thought that was his real personality. In a way, he was a joke. Ted was the only role he was really known for. Great movie. You should see Keanu Constantine and Chain Reaction and The Devil Advocate. Also Patrick Swayze Road House and Ghost . Fyi Gary Busey was already in a great surfer movie you should see called Big Wednesday. The singer of Red Hat Chilli Pepper plays a small role in this movie. He is the guy who shot his own leg. Fun fact. Since the scene was spoofed in "Hot Fuzz" (along with "Bad Boys 2", just getting permission to use this scene was the hardest part of that entire film's production.
Saw this at the movies and laughed out loud at the dog throw and punt scene. To this day I'll never forget that. What a weird thing to actually shoot for a movie. And for the editor to leave in. Always get a kick out of that and the Johnny hates losing so much he jumps from plane with only a gun scene. Pure action to the max.

Tbr, Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett is a trip. It's a sci-fi noir written and produced by (her then hubby) James Cameron. Bombed at the box office but has become a cult favourite through the years.
7:36 Bodie's name is short for Bodhisattva from Buddhism, essentially an enlightened being whose goal is awakening. Also, one who has attained such a degree of enlightenment that they can reach nirvana, but who out of compassion remains behind to help others on the path. A perfect fit for Swayze's character and how in his own unorthodox, misguided rebel way, sought a higher spiritual plane and sense of self, and sought to enlighten those around him.
This film really broke a lot of barriers and stereotypes, and was actually quite progressive. You had a female director directing a blockbuster style action film. Kathryn Bigelow really did an amazing job on this:) Patrick Swayze playing a likable villain, and Keanu Reeves breaking out into action which would eventually become his career:)
@@Sgt_Glory Definitely. I always think of him playing Corey Haim’s uncle in Silver Bullet, he does well in the good guy roles, when he’s not doing his Mister Joshua routine:)
Red Dawn and Road House are fantastic movies you both will enjoy immensely. And if you haven't seen The Outsiders, its an outstanding film with a huge cast of greats you will recognize including Patrick Swayze. Another overlooked early Keanu film is The Rivers Edge. A truly excellent movie.
Love this movie, two more little known Keanu Reeves movies worth keeping in mind is A River's Edge and Permanent Record. River's Edge is based on a news story that actually happened back in the 80's I believe.
Amazing, amazing, amazing film! You guys, again, amazing break down at the end and I'm now 💯 that you guys are a mile ahead of every other reaction channel on TH-cam! Your videos have kept me going through my divorce with the fantastic reactions to some of my fav films of all time! Keep up the good work!
Loved that you both watched this one. I’d suggest to also watch Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure and Constantine. Bill and Ted is what made Keanu a legend and Constantine is an underrated comic book movie with the best version of the Devil.
I've been waiting for this reaction. This is my favorite Keanu Reeves 90's action film. So underrated. The action is great, and the soundtrack kicks ass.
Always fun to see you both going in blind, I don't know if you ever saw Hot Fuzz from The Cornetto Trilogy but there's a big Point Break homage in it, if you've not seen it you're missing out. This also has low-key one of the funniest lines ever, "Back off War Child, seriously"
YES!!! This was the very first Keanu Reeves movie i watched growing up! Thank god i have this on DVD. Also RIP Patrick Swayze, 1952-2009. He's surfing with God now.
That "biggest waves" thing hits kind of different when you learn that, in the real biggest waves spots, you need a jet sky to take you all the way out to where you can actually catch the wave. The current is just too strong. And while I understand this is a movie, the wave they show where Body dies is pretty tiny. The largest waves are the size of sky scrapers.
Anthony Kiedis also had a small role in the movie "The Chase" (1994) and the whole band was in a scene, of a movie titled "Tough Guys" (1988), as themselves performing in a club.
I love this movie. So glad you enjoyed it! While this is a great action movie, I also think there's a certain serious undertone that makes it feel a bit more adult than a lot of action films. Johnny changes so much from being a 'blue flame special' to a man who can let his perp go, knowing he won't survive that wave anyway. All on his first case.
An 80's gem is To Live And Die In LA. Willem Dafoe, William Peterson. It's about counterfeiting and the Secret Service. Loads of action, killer car chase, drama. I don't think any reactions to it yet. Very 80's feel.
Point Break came out when I was 12 and it blew my mind. Its been my favourite action film ever since. I think it might be one of the 1st times I remember seeing a bad guy that I didn't hate & although not rooting for him I kind of hoped things worked out, because Bodhi was very likable. Like you mentioned, Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves made a great duo. I loved their chemistry. ( Also check out Ice hockey film Youngblood, with both of them). Keanu & Gary Busey were also great together. The action, The foot chase, The tension, The Skydiving scene, Gary Buseys crazy one liners, So quotable. Also scene stealers Tom Sizemore & John C McGinley. Kathyrn Bigelows Direction. ( Also you got to check out Strange Days also directed by Bigelow) What's not to like.
I agree with everything you said. It’s funny you mentioned Strange Days. I just saw it again two nights ago after probably 20 years, and I have to say, it still holds up. That’s definitely a great one.
@Daniel Johnson Both Point Break & Strange Days are in my top 10 favourite films. I'm not really interested in awards "Oscars etc". I just want to be entertained, and by God, do these films entertain! Also, Strange days has a kick ass soundtrack.
Every time I see someone reacting to Point Break my first thought is, 'all right, they are doing the bicycle movie!' Only to realize three seconds later that I am thinking of 1979's Breaking Away. Which was a very good movie that I hope has a place somewhere on your To Watch list.
Yeah! Breaking Away. My Dad was into cycling when I was growing up and I remember watching that movie with him. But years later Rad came into my life and that became the ultimate bike movie for me.
A few years later, there were some other action crime movies with skydiving as a major element - Drop zone(Wesley Snipes) & Terminal velocity(Charlie Sheen), both more on the campy end of the spectrum though.
i remember when this film was released. cool picture. nice reaction, as always. you guys know how to do it. big shoutout from your guy in gatlinburg, tennessee. love you guys. see y'all on the next. (can't wait for ya to do more sopranos). peace.
Can you PLEASE do Keanu's movie A Walk in the Clouds? It's SO beautiful - but so underated. He plays a young soldier coming home and falling in love. A very different role - but he's still amazing.
@@jkhoover I would love to see one of my favourite Keanu movies looked at by two of my favourite reactors. I know it's not for everyone - but I honestly think they would really like it.
@@jeannieschmidt2217 I know. I have personal favorites too that I'd love to see, but they do have to consider the watchability of their reactions. I truly think A Walk In The Clouds would be their worst performing video, because it's too small.
Summer 1991 was full of some hits. A lot of people avoided this movie off at first and wrote it off because they thought there was something comical about surfers being bank robbers. The trailer was very well done and matched the adrenaline of the movie. Keanu Reeves would later get more press for his action role in "Speed" but he was quite physical and intense in this movie. Kathryn Bigelow definitely showed some action chops and we did not get enough of her at the time.
It wasn’t that so much as bad timing. It came out less than 2 weeks after Terminator 2 (which everybody wanted to see) and the same day as Boyz N the Hood, which soon got everybody’s attention. I only saw this in theaters because the 7 o’clock for T2 was sold out (We went to the late show of T2 afterwards). Probably the best double feature I’ve ever done.
@@lexkanyima2195 I wouldn’t call it “rushed,” it’s about as well put together as any medium budget action flick for that time. I just think the release was just bad luck. I’m sure nobody at Fox was worried about Boyz N the Hood coming out at the same time (low budget serious social drama from a 22-year old first time director versus Patrick Swayze, surfing, guns, and explosions?) and I think studios had no idea T2 was going to be a phenomenon (T2’s budget was $25 million more than the entire box office earnings from the first movie) and figured it would have been losing momentum by the time Point Break came out. As a result, PB was 3rd on everyone’s list, and by the time most people got around to wanting to go see it, it was already out of their local theater. But eventually, home video and HBO gave Point Break the big audience it should have gotten right off the bat.
The fact that Patrick Swayze was really doing those jumps was awesome, his moves during that first skydiving scene were always cool to me
RIP to the old blood Swayze, passing the awesome torch to the new blood Keanu.

THE REPLACEMENTS with Keanu.
ROADHOUSE with Swayze.
This surfer girl is "Kit" from the movie "A league of their own".
Tbr, Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett is a trip. It's a sci-fi noir written and produced by (her then hubby) James Cameron. Bombed at the box office but has become a cult favourite through the years.
Red Dawn (the original) is another top notch Patrick Swayze movie - highly recommended
And Gary Busey not being the unhinged villain for once
@@Sgt_Glory Definitely. I always think of him playing Corey Haim’s uncle in Silver Bullet, he does well in the good guy roles, when he’s not doing his Mister Joshua routine:)
Red Dawn and Road House are fantastic movies you both will enjoy immensely. And if you haven't seen The Outsiders, its an outstanding film with a huge cast of greats you will recognize including Patrick Swayze.
Another overlooked early Keanu film is The Rivers Edge. A truly excellent movie.
Red Dawn also has a large cast of greats. Amazing movie. Too bad the remake sucked
Youngblood absolute must watch
@@RickYoungBlood666 Hell yes! Keanu as a French Canadian goalie, must watch!
TBR SCHMITT: "So we've done, Speed." "Yeah Speed was fun."
ME: "Hmmmm this could be funny if taken out of context."
😂😂😂
Love this movie, two more little known Keanu Reeves movies worth keeping in mind is A River's Edge and Permanent Record. River's Edge is based on a news story that actually happened back in the 80's I believe.
Amazing, amazing, amazing film! You guys, again, amazing break down at the end and I'm now 💯 that you guys are a mile ahead of every other reaction channel on TH-cam! Your videos have kept me going through my divorce with the fantastic reactions to some of my fav films of all time! Keep up the good work!
One of my favorite movies ❤. Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
TBR: "Ive seen that azzhole before!!!"
- Too many jokes in my head😂😂😂
Throw a beard on Keanu, and he's the same-looking guy 32 years later.
You're not wrong
Cool reaction as always Schmitt & Samantha, you both have a good night
Loved that you both watched this one. I’d suggest to also watch Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure and Constantine. Bill and Ted is what made Keanu a legend and Constantine is an underrated comic book movie with the best version of the Devil.
such an awesome movie, Kathryn Bigelow is highly underrated as a director(Strange Days in paricular doesn't get the attention it deserves).
I've been waiting for this reaction. This is my favorite Keanu Reeves 90's action film. So underrated. The action is great, and the soundtrack kicks ass.
Nobody rides for free…..🏄♂️
Other Bigelow flicks to add to your list - "Near Dark", "Strange Days", & "Zero Dark Thirty" You will love them all.
This movie is so slept on. It’s amazing
No, I've never shot my gun in the air and gone AAAHHH
Pretty sure they reacted to it!
They mention this around the 33:16 mark. 😉
Speaking of Anthony Kiedis, you have to watch The Chase with Charlie Sheen. Great cameo by Kiedis and Flea! The movie is a fun watch.
Yes but those are rogue waves, not surfable one near the shore.
So glad you spotted the Red Hot Chili Peppers guy!
Point Break is a very good movie
Road House!
Road House!
Road House!
Road House!
Road House!
That girl has entirely too much brains to have an ass like that
Anthony Kiedis also had a small role in the movie "The Chase" (1994) and the whole band was in a scene, of a movie titled "Tough Guys" (1988), as themselves performing in a club.
Keanu!!!! Still not Bill & Ted’s but still an iconic movie. HE IS A FBI AGENT!!!
* I AM AN F-B-I AGENT!
The action,
The foot chase,
The tension,
The Skydiving scene,
Gary Buseys crazy one liners,
So quotable.
Also scene stealers Tom Sizemore & John C McGinley.
Kathyrn Bigelows Direction. ( Also you got to check out Strange Days also directed by Bigelow)
What's not to like.
Which was a very good movie that I hope has a place somewhere on your To Watch list.
,, I dunno why but I always think of the title,, the big blue (1988) , which is mebbe a swimming movie w Jean Reno
Love this under rated movie. Glad you reacted!!!!!
The Golden Child with Eddie Murphy. Another great multi-tone action movie.
i remember when this film was released. cool picture. nice reaction, as always. you guys know how to do it. big shoutout from your guy in gatlinburg, tennessee. love you guys. see y'all on the next. (can't wait for ya to do more sopranos). peace.
So happy you got the Hot Fuzz reference 🤣
Point break the inspiration for the 1st fast and furious
Living in Australia, I know that's not Bells Beach. I think they filmed it in USA cause too costly to come down under.
It was filmed at Ecola State Park just north of Cannon Beach, Oregon.
The female lead playing the character she does in Orange is the New Black is to me, wild range yo.
Can you PLEASE do Keanu's movie A Walk in the Clouds? It's SO beautiful - but so underated. He plays a young soldier coming home and falling in love. A very different role - but he's still amazing.
Please don't do A Walk In The Clouds!!! Unless you want to cater to eleven people.
But it is also a ushering a new era
It wasn’t that so much as bad timing. It came out less than 2 weeks after Terminator 2 (which everybody wanted to see) and the same day as Boyz N the Hood, which soon got everybody’s attention. I only saw this in theaters because the 7 o’clock for T2 was sold out (We went to the late show of T2 afterwards). Probably the best double feature I’ve ever done.
@@bobcobb3654 it felt rushed
