This is probably a dream of everybody who visited Saona Island in the Dominican Republic. Stay overnight, don’t go home!
A dream that we made come true. We stayed overnight on the small Caribbean island Saona. With only 40 -50 driving minutes from Punta Cana it is a very easy get away.
Karla from latina tours (operating on the german market) found our Guesthouse on the Island and organized the overnight stay including the boat transfer from Bayahibe to Saona.
The Saona Beach House ( find the Saona Beach House on Facebook @saonabeachhouse ) is at the end of the little Road in Mano Juan, the village on Saona Island.
We had the two rooms with Ocean View. Each room had 3 beds and a bathroom.
    All we needed.
The Village is very small and we walked through in no time.
We found a little restaurant that offered exactly the food we wanted, Fish, salad and platoon frito. Directly by the Beach. Since we still have curfew in the Dominican Republic, we ate Lunch at the Beach and had Dinner in front of our House.
We brought lot’s of stuff because we where not sure what to expect. The Hostel provides Drinking Water and Breakfast.
You can have Lunch at additional cost there or go to the Restaurant. I believe there might be more Restaurants or Bars open, when we have Covid-19 regulations behind us. There was a little Colmado ( a little grocery store). Cellphone signal is good, as they have a tower in the Village.
A Caribbean paradise with turquoise blue water. You can walk and explore ( that’s what we planed, but never did) or just relax in the hammock and the crystal clear water ( that’s what we did) The part of the Beach directly in front of the Guesthouse is rocky, but 3 minutes “down the road” ist golden sand. Snorkeling was okay, not spectacular, but than I did not swim very far ..
Sitting by the Ocean at night on the other hand was spectacular. My favorite part, followed by having breakfast and coffee with “vista al mar” sleeping and waking up by the sound of the Ocean.
I recommend to bring some food ( no fridge) like snacks, Wine if you like it, I think I only saw Presidente beer at the Colmado, snorkeling equipment if you really care for snorkeling. Bug spray ( it didn’t help us, but you never know) shower gel & shampoo, tooth brush and cream. Toilet paper was there :-) a camera of course for sunset photos.
Bring Dominican Money, small bills in case they have no change ( there is no other place to go :-)) Taking a boat to another beach is expensive. Even gas has to be brought by boat. It's the perfect escape!

Amazing!! How expensive are the boat rides from Mano Juan Village to visit the other beaches in Saona.. like Canto de La Playa or Catuano??

Very expensive. I think they ask for 100 US just to go to the Lagune. Part is because they have to get the gas from the mainland by boat and that’s no bargain.

@@puntacanaallyoucansee wow that is pretty pricey!!!! I’m debating whether to stay in Mano Juan for 2 nights and take boats to the other beaches in Saona or just do a day trip with a tour company from Bayahibe...are the beaches near the guest houses in Mano Juan as beautiful??

how do you get around in saona island if you stay for the night? also is there boat transportation that comes daily back to bayahibi if you don't do the tour?

we stayed in the village Mano Juan and everything is walking distance. Locals also offer you to take you to other beaches by boat, but for Mano Juan was enough. The boat comes once a day.

Hi, can you please share the information on how to get there and back? I know you can get a place to stay through AirBnB but have no clue how to get there and back. If you have a contact you can share it would be great. I will be there soon and would love to spend the night at Isla Saona.

Hi Mel, Cant believe I did not put the contact information! Saona Beach House +1 829 772 71 32 From the owner we got the information that the Public boat is leaving at 9 am. I would recommend to make a reservation fo the stay, before you go, because the boat only comes back the next day. .. From where ever you are coming you need to go to Bayahibe - Public Boat to Saona Islana ( Mano Juan) puntacanaallyoucansee@gmail.com if you need further information :-)
