Saw them live about a year after this, they sounded like a different band, a lot heavier, still think they are one of the best 3 piece bands ever. Ian McNabb is a hugely underrated songwriter.
Such a treasure that this video still exists. Takes me back to my teens. Thank you so much for the upload. #2022 ♥️🤘🙏🙌 Time travel does exists, it's called TH-cam.
I remember Janice Long coming on stage and saying if another bottle is thrown the show is over. Just as she said those words a bottle arced over the moat and bounced off the bandstand roof.
I didn't realise that love is a wonderful colour had different verse lyrics originally! Only just found out by watching this as I think this is the only early live footage in existence! Also has anyone got the early "ascending" cassette for uploading, as I would love to hear it as it has different songs on it to what came out later once they got signed to beggars banquet!!
oh, I didnt know it had different lyrics before they released the LP in 1984. Great upload, btw! (just frustrating for him I guess that low sound microphone. we see it is bugging him often trying to adjust it so it could be near his mouth. He should have taken another fixed mic, they seem to be louder.) I have seen them in concert, I think it was in 85 or 86. Ian McNab was sitting on the chair all concert, he had long hair and a long dark beard. It was much different than the video. lol
Went to the larks in the park gigs . Great bands icicle works ,echo and the bunnymen. Then watch haircut one hundred get booed by all the lads as their girlfriends all fancied nick heywood .Hahaha. Plus they were rubbish anyway
The young and brillant Chris Sharrock.
He was only 19!
Anyone know what date this was? I've got it written on a tape as 3rd July but I've seen people saying it was in August.
Great band and old enough to remember them
LOVE THIS BAND! GREETINGS FROM BRASIL! ;)

As a drummer....seen this band numerous times back in this period and Chris rocked it ....
I remember recording this on video when it was in tv
Amazing playing guitar and keyboard classic icicle works gig
A day,a time. Sounds 👍. Thank you.
Oh this brings back memories of an amazing summer
Chris sharrock is the greatest drummer ever......
You're mistaking him for Pete DeFreitas , he was the best drummer without a doubt
probably been in the most amount of bands ever!!!
Can't remember if he was World party before or after ? Another great band btw
Fuckin so underated a band.

Wonderful...first time I saw them perform on tv....
1983 Sefton Park supporting Nick Heyward . They blew the twat of stage.
Brilliant....great band
This is an absolute classic. Thank you!
Bring back time Icicle works is the best !!!!
Love the original lyrics to love is a wonderful colour
those mics are a nightmare....surprised he stuck with it so long
I can see how he might think they would make his life easier ... But do they?
Brilliant!
Vocals fantastic
He still sings wonderfully.
Was there. Awesome!
Martin Allman me too. Did you throw the bottle?🤣🤣🤣😂
I remember Janice Long coming on stage and saying if another bottle is thrown the show is over. Just as she said those words a bottle arced over the moat and bounced off the bandstand roof.
I'd only ever throw myself or my underwear at the stage.
The landscape was literally greener in the 80's.
The Icicle Works in a early Gig.
I Think this is from 1983.
Fantastic Band!
gracias por subir esta hermosa y excelente musica "pop" (para mi), de otra manera jamas la hubiera escuchado en Argentina en los años 80

Only question - where’s Chas. ? 😂
I was at this concert. Nick Haywood was on after, he got bottled 😂
Is little Chris wearing his Dad's vest?
the mic sound seems too low, the singer has almost to scream to be heard.
I no this is a long shot but...... my god farther is Chris my dad is Stephen winstanley do you know any thin? 👌👌👌👌
I know you can't spell.
It was 1983 not 84
love is such a wonderful colour? were the lyrics before love is full of wonderful colours or did he just made a mistake?
He changed the lyrics
oh, I didnt know it had different lyrics before they released the LP in 1984.

Is that Chris Sharrock or Zak Starkey on the drums?
Chris Sharrock
The night Nick got bottled.... JUSTICE
Hardly, because of idiots throwing bottles the concerts got stopped and ruined it for all of us.
@robharper7390
He speaks very highly of you. Justice for *_what_* btw ?
