The sound of this beautiful double which is augmented by both 4’ & 8’ couplers is quite beautiful on the human ear - It’s only the ‘look of the outer case of the instrument’ which is lacking in elan-not its mechanical design or careful construction : if the owner of this harpsichord (‘cembalo’) wanted to ‘go all the way’ he could have a large dark-wood-stain’d outer case made for it to ‘slip-into’ to bring it in line with German & Italian models c. 1750 - but most of these ‘outer cases’ were heavilly hand-painted & decorated with gold leaf & filligree to add to its imposing image…
