  • Nestled along the confluence of the Mississippi, Black and La Crosse Rivers, bordered by the dolomite bluffs of the driftless area, the La Crosse region is geographically stunning and historically rich. The area thrives as a vibrant collective of communities along the Wisconsin/Minnesota border: La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, the Town of Campbell and La Crescent, MN. Join Discover Wisconsin, as we explore the La Crosse Region, a recreational, dining and cultural destination in any season.

DW host Eric Paulsen goes Mississippi River fishing near French Island, then lands for lunch at Huck Finn’s on the Water, in the Town of Campbell. We’ll visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and appreciate the spring flowers at the International Friendship Gardens.
The La Crosse Region is easily one of the most beautiful and festive places to enjoy a Wisconsin summer! Known as an outdoor recreational paradise, we’ll show you where to kayak and bike for the best views and epic advenures. It wouldn’t be summer without fairs and festivals. Eric heads to Holmen for the home-grown Kornfest.
In the Fall, Lindsey Hayes heads to La Crescent, MN for Applefest, with a stop at River View Vineyard and Winery. Her journey continues along the Great River Road, taking in the scenic vistas and landmarks, and landing at Grandad Bluff.
Our exploration of the La Crosse region continues in winter, with abundant opportunities to get outside and appreciate the beauty of the season. We visit Mt. La Crosse, a premier ski and snowboarding destination in the Midwest. And we head to West Salem for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat-tire biking and track skating. We talk dining in the area with restauranteur Ryan Johnson. And a perfect end to a year of fun, is a stop at the Rotary Holiday Lights at Riverside Park, a beautiful reflection of the vibrant community spirit in the La Crosse Region.
As the nation’s longest-running travel & tourism TV series, award-winning Discover Wisconsin highlights destinations, adventures, and local initiatives that bring our communities together across America's Dairyland.

I moved here in fall of 2021 from the Milwaukee area, and feel like this is hands down the spot for all things outdoors. Not only that but just the community in general just loves it’s home, and I couldn’t be happier to live in such a prideful community. Go from top notch hiking in the woods where you get stunning views, to an awesome historic downtown area where I’m still finding new things today, to the mighty Mississippi riverfront area, all easily by bike. It’s just the best of every world as a Wisconsinite who doesn’t want to leave the state but wants all the fun things in one place.
