This video helped me out. I have an 2012 jeep Liberty, this same code came up for me as well. I’ve changed the temperature sensor/sender, water pump, and the thermostat. The code showed no more. I’m now having an issue where the temperature gauge is saying it’s overheating but it’s actually not. Any help???
I have seen many times if you drain the coolant to change a sensor or anything else in the cooling system you have to bleed the air out of the system when back together to get the guage to read right and also not overheat
Currently troubleshooting mine, it started getting cold here, and I got p2181, only symptom I'm getting is that the coolant temp needle disappears and no longer reads temp on the evic. Only happens when the car cold starts in cold environment, car reaches operating coolant temp and then will disappear. I've pulled the car over and shut off and turn back on temperature is reading again. Have you seen this before?
had a lightning bolt while trying to burp system it went over half way on temp gauge so i shut it down wouldnt restart with the code p2182 either for a bit. i finally had to mess with fuel feed to get it to catch may have flooded or like flooded trying to crank it a few times idk lol. but either way you are right

Sounds like a sensor has gone bad or the temp gauge.

If the car warms up normally with no overheating, it is likely a sensor having an issue.
I'm not sure where my coolant sensor is on my model 2019 charger
Thank man that's a big help👍
It can also happen if theres not enough coolant in it
yep mine done that today after i changed timing cover gasket etc.
