      @@Adam-eo5yl except thats not how it works. You arent going to climb out in combat and take the straps off and just roll your spare tire over the side and leave it. It was just a shit design that no one double-checked first.

Usually they engage or push to a secure area and if they cant change it themselves call a RRR(repair recovery request) and that's when I show up in my wrecker lift it with my stinger and change it, under all around defense. The new LAV 6 has HMS(hight management system) that allows them to lower the vehicle to transport chaine the lower A arm to the frame then raise it to line high and drive on 7 tires, minimum 4.

      The CADPAT AR did not arrive until 2002. So yes, the Canadian Forces carried the CADPAT TW until 2002 because the CADPAT AR was under development and about no sense, let's talk about UCP and DNC.

    • @brysonkuervers2570
      @brysonkuervers2570 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well tbf you know Afghanistan does have lots of vegetated areas right? It's not all JUST desert. And at that time unfortunately Canada was suffering from a...political procurement error which is why they went in with TW, but CADPAT AR came out in 2002 thankfully. (Totally don't forget that Americans still had plenty of very big green body armour on them, also tan Abrams in the middle of forested Europe? At least our vehicles were the right colour off the bat I suppose haha)

    • @jonmce1
      @jonmce1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Until Afganistan Canada had no reason to believe it would deploy to desert-like geography in combat situations. So when the force deployed there they still had CADPAT temperate woodland uniforms. The CADPAT arid design had to be developed and uniforms manufactured after the fact.

    • @jonmce1
      @jonmce1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jeffho1727 The reality is that no one can be ready for everything and fighting in Afganistan is pretty close to the least likely thing Canada would ever do. Even if you are spending like crazy like the Americans you just won't be ready. Remember the wide reporting of the failure of US equipment in Iraq 2 and Rumsfeld's statement you go with what you got. Every government should do their best to support their army for foreseeable situations but it is an impossible task to foresee everything.
