    Great question, I always end up wishing I had mentioned X or Y when I am done recording a video and this is one of those items! The Canon Kit lens does seem better than the Nikon kit lens. The t5i will come bundled with a newer 18-55 STM lens that is likely to be even more improved. Other lenses for Nikon- I am slowly working on a list that I hope to publish soon.

    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There are high end cameras that will try to do this but very few can keep focus while you zoom, more often it takes a 1/2 second to catch up and get focus. The t4i does allow face tracking. If you select a face or it finds a face it will do it's best to keep it in focus as you move the camera or as the face moves. The T3i will not continuously focus. The t4i will. I think that answers your last question?

    I think the 18-135 STM is a nice place to start, grab that along with the 50 f/1.8 for lower light shooting and you have a nice setup. I am happy to chat more and answer more questions.

    You are fine. It is adjusting the switch to M that makes it ok. There are basically two types of lenses in the world. Ones that allow manual focus no matter if the switch is set to A or M and there are ones that require the switch to be at M or your risk damaging the lens. It is a hard mistake 2 make because if the lens is in A and doesn't move freely it isn't meant to be manually focused :) if it moves with VERY little resistance it is fine. Hope that helps, please ask if u need more info

    All zooming is done with the lenses in DSLRS and you can zoom during video but it is not smooth and hard to hold the camera steady, unless it is on a tripod, as you zoom since you are physically grabbing the lens and rotating. Many of the newer P&S do allow zooming now. Happy to answer more questions.

    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep - this is where things start to get confusing. USM lenses also offer full time manual focus, STM lenses offer full time manual focus if you half press shutter(they also don't always require a 1/2 press, sometimes they just work- depends on if the camera lens connection is awake :) When camera is off it is fine to zoom lens and accidental focus ring turning is ok too, just don't force anything ever - if it does smoothly turn/slide/rotate etc don't do it :)

    Shutter speed changes can be seen as you change. You can exit, change the aperture and return to live view and you will see the changes. And ISO you can see. For all of this to work you do need to enable manual movie mode.

    Couple of points. I do think the T4i/t5i with 18-135 STM is a very user friendly package - you get silent and continuously smooth auto focus for video. Magic Lantern is excellent but they haven't provided a 650 or 700D firmware yet, it is a gamble, they may never crack those cameras. I am not sure I understand your last questions. Are you talking about the old 18-135 NON-stm lens? then yes, that does not quietly auto focus during video.

    One thing I have noticed, under artificial light the Nikon gives greenish tint often. Make sure you use natural light for your food shots whenever possible or learn to correct in post. They do offer a food photo scene, I haven't personally tried it so it may work well. I'd be likely to get the D5200 with 40mm macro too, lovely lens that lets you get very close for detail shots, I just uploaded a review of that lens.

    Dean, Glad you didn't get bored - sometimes these last longer than I expect but I like to be thorough. I really like the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, I just added a link under the video. It doesn't get as wide as kit but it is sharp, offers constant f/2.8 aperture and a nice range. I hope to have a video up about shooting backlit subjects soon. Thanks!

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is, I am afraid a common issue, it takes most cameras I know of time to re-meter and adjust their settings. It might not be helpful but I wouldn't shoot where you are going to run into a transition like that. I'd setup a shot in one place, film and then move to the next spot, setup camera for those conditions and shoot. You could try using a variable neutral density filter and then you are the one making the adjustment, but that will take practice.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No, does not include when the ISO is low, long exposures are fine. Both cameras offer normal auto bracketing. The D5200 is kind of sweet here because you can assign the fn button to be bracketing and switch in and out of that mode very easily.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi MzB, I personally was not happy with the D5200 with the 18-55 kit lens, I tried two different lenses and the camera was just OK with them, when I tried a nicer lens the images were noticeably sharper. The 18-105 is a little better and it is less convenient but you get excellent images with the 35 f/1.8 prime lens. A prime lens doesn't zoom but gives you sharp quality at a nice savings. I am happy to answer more questions. There is a link to buy D5200 under my video, best price on Amazon.

    T5i with 18-55 STM would be just fine. With the t5i you can flip the screen around to the front and touch to control the settings when you are setting up for a signing session. 18-55 STM is a good starter lens for recording video. If you wanted to have a softer background you could pick up the sigma 30 f/1.4 or the 50 f/1.8 or the 40mm f/2.8. All are good options and I am happy to chat more about possible setups for you.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi MB -I don't see many reasons for buying the 60D over the T4i except maybe better battery life but you will be carrying around a noticeably heavier camera to get that better battery life. The touchscreen on T4i is quite nice too, especially for video work and double especially if you will be in front of the camera at times.
    I think the T4i with 18-135 STM gets you nice and wide for video. You could go wider with something like the Tokina 11-16 but that is REALLY wide. Macro get the 60mm.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    HI Richard, If you need to do close up/macro shots the 40 f/2.8 from Nikon is fantastic for the price and does most of the job of the 35 f/1.8. The 40mm is the only lens I have had on my Nikon for the last 2 months and been very happy. Another option that is a bit more expensive but gives you more versatility is the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, does decent close up shots and offers a very nice range for scenery and people photos.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Peter, that only applies to the two STM lenses. If the lens does not move freely when you rotate it with your fingers you should stop. If it moves freely with very little effort then it is fine. Now a few times probably won't break the lens but it is not something you should make a habit.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have basically unlimited points of focus during video, you can move the box anywhere on the screen and use that to change focus during the video. It is important to note that the professionals all use manual focus for video.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I personally have found the 18-55 soft, the 18-105 is actually a bit better. Really depends on your longer term plans, do you plan to upgrade sooner rather than later? the 18-55 provides an easier upgrade path.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Live view does respond but it is more limited and you cant change aperture during live view. The view finder does not respond because it is optical, not electronic.

    For interviews the Canon does very nicely and is more friendly to use. Links under the video lead to best prices and I am happy to answer additional questions.

    both cameras have tracking focus. The T4i does a little better when paired with an STM lens- T4i is sold with 18-135 STM. T5i is sold with 18-55 STM or the 18-135 STM. In this price range you could also consider the 4/3 series of cameras, they do a bit better with focus on moving objects like dancers.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you watch the whole video? Does one appeal to you more than the other? I think the 700D is more user friendly for beginners but they are both very good cameras.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You actually have part of this mixed up. The Nikon is the one more likely to apply a greenish tint to images, it isn't a big deal but the canon does not. The Nikon also suffers a tiny bit of lag from time to time. The Nikon does take lovely photos but overall I still prefer the Canon. Especially if you buy the T4i with 18-135 STM lens. There are links under the video that go to the best price. I am happy to answer followup questions. Best, T

    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    When someone says they are a complete amateur I usually lean toward the Canon - it is a more friendly camera to start with while providing plenty of room to grow. The Nikon is a little less approachable but does offer better quality images, especially in lower light and if you never want to leave the easy auto mode the camera takes great photos. I have found a bit of hesitation, almost slowness at times with D5200 so Canon may be better if capturing sports often. Happy to answer more ?s

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The slow processing yes - I am getting used to the live view aperture changes. Sometimes it takes what feels like an eternity to show the photo I just took. - This really only happens when using live view. When shooting without live view on the image review is near instant.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That really depends on the lenses you use. I find the 650D/700D with 18-135 STM to be better all around but if you put a nice lens on the Nikon it does slightly better.

  • @felixcayetuna2744

    Thank you for this Toby. Personally, and I certainly do not promote, reason why I chose the T4i is because of the touch screen. Jumping from point-and-shoot to DSLR like I did, being able to manipulate settings right at the screen is awesome. The disadvantage is if I decide to get a full frame, I may struggle finding the settings that I want. It is important to note though, of the 7 friends I know who are REALLY into photography, none of them uses a Canon. To me that says a lot about Nikon!

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hard to go wrong with either. The canon is a bit easier to use but the Nikon does provide some really nice quality when the light levels drop. Why the 60D and not the T4i?

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Julia, I found the Canon T4i and T5i to be just a bit more responsive- especially if you use the center point. I really like the T4i and t5i paired with the 18-135 STM, it is a great range. There are links under video lead to best prices.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nikon does offer a robust HDR menu plus bracketing. And it has a selective color feature. Canon has a weak HDR feature and does not offer selective coloring.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you looked/compared the quality of video out of a canon or nikon dslr vs a video camera/camcorder? The difference is significant, especially if you want to control your depth of field.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for sharing that perspective. I personally think the jump to full frame will be less troublesome than you might think, the 6D and 5DM3 are quite user friendly and share similarities with earlier rebels. The pro photographers I know are split about 50/50 Canon and Nikon.

    Thank you for this review. I was on the fence in regards to the Canon T4i/ T5i vs the Nikon D5200. Ultimately I went for the Nikon D5200, there was a really good sale at my local costco, and knowing the very minor differences I opted for the higher mega pixels and better video quality of the Nikon. Thank you again for making this comparison video and actually taking the time to use and experience both systems! Your insight was very helpful!

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have discovered a way to enable some live view simulation on the Nikon D5200. I haven't seen any issues with WB and the 35 f/1.8 but in general the Nikon tends to be more greenish in color. I really like the T4i/T5i with 18-135 STM as an all around but if you are willing to work at it - the Nikon with a nice prime like the 35 can give you some excellent results.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is tricky. If you are willing to get an external flash for the Canon you can have lovely indoor photos but if you just use the pop up flash I am not as impressed. Outdoors the two camera are very similar, I often prefer the look of Canon in those cases and user friendliness the Canon is very nice. Not sure I was helpful :) just gave you more to think about. Happy to answer more questions.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No lenses that Nikon offers is as silent at the 18-135 STM from Canon. You can make it better by using an external mic like the Rode Pro but honestly the autofocus from both cameras is pretty noticeable and only something that I think parents trying to capture the moment should use. Anyone looking for more professional look should be manually focusing which is silent :) Happy to chat more about this.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 60D vs T4i post on my website(I just added a link under the video, click the show more and you will see it.), the short answer is not really, I recommend the 60D over the t4i for very few people.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is almost always the case. I am not sure what it is but the 18-55 lenses from Nikon I have tried were quite soft. The 18-105 were less soft.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    HI terry, the 18-55 from Nikon is not nearly as sharp as the Canon 18-135 STM. Additionally the 18-135 STM from Canon offers that full time SILENT auto focus during video. Which makes easy video possible with the Canon. I really like the value of the T4i with the 18-135 STM, there is a link under the video that leads to the best price. The D5200 does produce better video and images, especially in lower light but you do need a good lens to take advantage of the increased sharpness.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have discoeverd a way to get a preview of your shot- I have another video in my channel called D5200 manual movie settings. That should help you.

    You also asked about Auto Exposure bracketing but now I can't find the comment or question. Ask again please?

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Reef tank = low light, correct? That makes me lean d5200. Sporting events and faster action makes me lean Canon. . tricky eh? Video is easier to shoot on Canon, especially with 18-135 STM lems and over all that is a great package. I'd suggest getting a nice prime like the 50mm for the 40mm for your lower light work. Happy to chat more.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I answered this elsewhere but for anyone reading - my answer is D5200. If you are going to be shooting in lower light AND using a nice prime the D5200 does beautifully.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    those two lenses 35 and 18-105 are a great combination and will do well for you in both portraits and general walk around photography.

    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    hi Maria, I do like the user friendly features of the Canon. Pair it with the 18-135 STM and you have a very nice travel friendly camera. The nikon does do a little better in lower light but you have to buy a better lens than the 18-55 to really see that difference.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am glad I could help you decide. I have a series of D5200 tutorials, make sure you watch those and let me know if you have any questions.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    How often do you think you will need or want the extra zoom. Does that help you decide?

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No one is blowing anyone out of the water, Nikon did take some years to catch up on the video side by the have done a really nice job with these last few cameras - The sensors are excellent!

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my first video I made mention of the Nikon issues, they seem to have gotten better but they are far behind Canon in respect to customer service and it seems quality control. The D7000 overall though was a very well loved camera and it is always hard to tell how many people are actually affected or if it was just a few(relatively) making lots of noise.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Part 2- that the Nikon just can't match in terms of sharpness from the kit lens, silent video focusing and lovely friendly touch screen. So I give the T4i very high marks and because you mentioned video and first time user I think you will be happier with the T4i. Links under video lead to best prices on Amazon. I am happy to answer more questions.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can't go wrong with either camera. What do your friends own? The only negative to the D5200 is you need to get a lens other than the kit to really see the good image quality.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    VR, IS or whatever you want to call it is helpful but having a constant f/2.8 is really nice at that price point. It is hard to say if it is an issue or not, really depends on what you want to shoot. The Tamron 24-70 - I have a video about that lens, I was very unhappy with it's performance but I do know there are many that are happy. My copy was soft and froze up my camera, for professional level work it was unacceptable.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Focus motor does not impact the image quality - it makes a difference in the number and type of lenses you can use - The D5200 will not auto focus with as many lenses as the D7100. It isn't as huge a deal as it might sound, there are plenty of lenses with focus motors. The D7100 does offer you more room to grow as a photographer but the D5200 is a fine place to start as well. Have you entered my giveaway- lots of great gear that will get you started in photography.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with just about everything you said except the 18-250, lenses like that do not let the really nice sensors in these camera shine. 18-135 is as long as any lens that I will recommend.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hate snapsort, they automate this process of comparing and so often it is apples and oranges and something on paper look huge when in reality the difference is slight. Now that all said - the image quality difference is apparent between these two cameras in lower light but ONLY if you use a different lens than the 18-55 kit lens. The other big difference is flash exposure, the nikon really does a better job. But the T4i,when paired with the 18-135 STM lens gives you excellent video options

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Going to film school means you will be serious about film and willing to manual focus as professionals do. The D5200 is capable of producing some really lovely video- the camera isn't quite as easy to work with as the Rebel but if work at it and use good lenses the quality is excellent. Also nikon lets you use old manual aperture lenses for filming which can be very handy. You may want to find out what others in dept use though, if they are all canon and you could share lenses - that'd be nice.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    T4i with 18-135 STM is the best value, in my opinion. It offers a user friendly camera with a nice range in a higher quality lens that also provides that smooth auto focus during video. Links under video lead to best price - I'd appreciate you using them as a way to thank me. I am happy to answer additional questions.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really don't agree with this view but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know of any DSLRS on the horizon that are going to offer this - is720p at 60fps not enough? There are 4/3 cameras like the GH3 that will do 1080p and 60fps. and the do make nikon to 4/3 adapters.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Both offer lenses with image stabilization that is very good. I really think the 650 or 700D with 18-135 STM is a better all around system for general travel and fun photography. The D5200 can be better in low light but only if you add a different lens.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    What did you think after watching the video? Is there one that appeals more to you than another? D5200 provides better quality, mostly noticeable in lower light. T4i is very user friendly and when paired with 18-135 STM is an excellently convenient setup.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks. If you are willing to sacrifice convenience for sharpness and low light awesomeness the 35 f/1.8 is great. If you want more flexibility the Tamron 28-75 is lovely but doesn't offer VR or OS. And then there is a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 with VR actually they call it OS. It comes down to the type of video you will be shooting. If you let me know I can share some more thoughts.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can get nearly 500 photos out of both cameras, their battery life is very similar though I do give a slight edge to the Canon but it is just slight. You can basically turn the screen completely off in both cameras and that will give you longer battery life.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It depends on what I am doing :) If I owned the 18-135, and I had to pick between the three lenses you listed - I'd pick the 100mm Macro. It can be used for nice portraits and of course nice macro. If you really want more zoom get the 70-300 IS USM, much better than the 75-300.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks- I have corrected this in another video. Everything you say is true but it does hit a 1/30 of lower shutter speed limit.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The new 18-140 is improved and improved enough that it is probably worth it, though if you are willing to sacrifice some range there are other options we can talk about. For night shots you really want something with a distance scale - otherwise it is hard but not impossible to focus.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shutter speed can go as low as 1/30 of a second depending on the video mode you are in.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Prime lenses or any lens that has a wide maximum aperture like f/2.8. So the Canon 50 f/1.8, 40 f/2.8, Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and lots more - all depends on how much you want to spend.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am talking about the kit lens, the 18-55 AF-S. Sometimes it can mean the 18-105 too but people usually specify and I haven't spent enough time with 18-105 to comment.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hate being the guy that is down on kit lenses but I have now tried THREE copies of this lens and the differences versus Canon's kit or any other lens is remarkable. The photos are soft. Put on a different lens and that D5200 sensor can really shine and provide some SHARP images and video.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can get much better HDR by shooting three shots using the bracketing feature and then software on the computer to combine.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    is there a reason you picked just that lens? how about the 35 f/1.8 or the 40 f/2.8? All decent options. But in general, yes- D5200 + a prime lens is going to give you excellent results. The longer term investment piece, I wouldn't worry about that too much - Nikon is making plenty of great cameras and lenses.

  • @photorectoby
    @photorectoby  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like the value of the T4i with 18-135 STM right now, great travel combination and friendly camera - slightly better responsiveness over the D5200 too. Link under video leads to best deals on B&H and Amazon - two places I recommend buying from.

    It is really nice on the canon to be able to turn that touchscreen around and make adjustments when you are in front of the camera. Shooting video in good light I see very little difference between these two cameras. I'd grab the t4i with 18-55 and add the 50 f/1.4 lens. link under video does go to best price on Amazon.

    Hi Bob, fyi the Nikon has more focus points 39 vs 9 in the T4i/T5i. I really want to like the Nikon with its extra fun features but the Canon is snappy and reliable and with it's full exposure simulation a great learning tool. And if you want to do video the STM lenses with the T4i/T5i can't be beat!

    I do really like the 650D, it isn't as feature rich as the D5200 but it provides that nice touchscreen and easy full exposure simulation which is nice. Get him a prime lens too like the 50 f/1.8 or the 40 f/2.8 - Using a lens like that is when you can really see the effects of a wide aperture and let you explore photography.

    If manually focusing most of the time I would not go with STM lenses - get USM or standard lenses. Noise is silent with all of these lenses when manually focusing.

    Do you mean over contrasted? This is really all about exposure and picture styles. So I don't think I am inclined to agree - it is capable of but doesn't need to.

    I find the performance of the Canon to be faster, just slightly and the physical buttons plus the touchscreen make it very easy to change the settings.

    If you are willing to work at it the D5200 outputs lovely photos and video, it just isn't quite as friendly a camera as the 700D. I wouldn't bother with the 60D unless you want to carry around more camera for not much more benefit except easier manual control and better battery life. Value wise I place the D5200 slightly ahead of the 700D and both ahead of the 60D.

    I have a little notebook filled with my Meta Data from shooting with a Canon Film SLR :) I am happy to chat a bit and see if we can determine which camera will be best for you.

    650 does accept a battery grip which makes it quite nice to hold.

    T5i with 18-135 STM is, in my opinion, going to give you the best results. But stage photos from the back seat will be tough with any camera unless you shell out for some expensive lenses.

    Yep - I agree :) I do think the Canon is more responsive and better for learning. The Nikon has a few more fun features but they don't necessarily help you become a better photographer.

    The D5200 is capable of outputting gorgeous video. If you are happy with the results and user controls I'd say go for it. As the title and content of the video you are leaving this comment on also discusses the t4i - I do think it is a slightly more user friendly option but the output in low light is a bit noisier.

    Do not use 1080i, the T4i doesn't even offer 1080i so to compare the two is unfair. I personally think the T4i is more user friendly especially for shooting video with, if you want even easier setup get the t4i with 18-135 STM- link under video leads to best price on B&H for that camera. I am happy to answer more questions.

    If you said you were going to be recording video in low light most of the time then I would answer that the Nikon D5200 is a clear choice, especially with a nice prime lens. But it is hard for me to not say Canon here as it is a much easier device to film with.

    I really like the simplicity of the Canon for shooting video. I'd get the 650D with 18-55 and 50 f/1.8 or 40 f/2.8. I have a video called "How I shoot my videos" that gives a detailed look at my setup. I am happy to chat about this more.

    The D5200 produces cleaner files but takes a bit more work to shoot manual video with. If video is your main focus and you will be shooting in lower light you probably want the D5200. the 18-105 is an ok lens.

    I think the Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-f/4.0 is a good value, and there are some nice prime lenses like the 35 f/1.8 or the 50 f/1.8

    Stereo audio recording on both cameras is near identical. I do have a video that gives you a sense of the video focusing it is called T4i vs D5200 -1080P 24p- Auto Everything Video Quality and a video

    Because you said video I really think the T4i with that 18-135 STM offers the best value. The 18-135 STM is a nice lens that offers a convenient range and smooth/quiet autofocus during video. I have a blog post about the 40mm and 50mm lenses, send me a message on facebook and I will link you. That should help you decide which prime lens. also links under the video above lead to best prices on Amazon. Thanks!

    The good news is - any of these cameras will suit you well and provide plenty of room to grow. I shot for 5 years with an entry level camera and only moved up when I started shooting more professionally and needed a much higher burst rate. It is all about the lenses and maybe a flash :)
