  • In this UV resin tutorial I will show you how to make a very realistic faux moonstone.
    Materials used:
    You can find the Chinese resin as well as various cabochon molds in my Amazon Influencer store, in the "Resin" section
    www.amazon.com/ideas/amzn1.ac...
    You can use interference Blue mica powder either from Pearl Ex or any other brands of interference powders (most commonly seen in car paint pigments) - you can actually get samples on eBay.
    www.amazon.com/ideas/amzn1.ac...
    Now, for the giveaway - for some reason I was too stressed and didn't realize I didn't turn down music volume for the final narration; please use CC if you can't hear well what I'm saying:
    You must list ALL the TH-cam videos in which I have posted faux gemstone tutorials - be they videos or live broadcasts. Only faux gemstones, not fantasy stones or "meh you can do this too" lol.
    The person who will give the most correct answers within 48 hours of this video being posted wins.
    For subscribers within the US, the prize is a Neverknead machine.
    For subscribers outside the US, the prize is $100 worth of paid tutorials from my store (you choose which of them).
    Good luck! and thank you for being my subscribers!
    You will have to wait a couple more days for the faux labradorite as due to the more opaque colors I had to use, I can't do it in UV resin, only in casting resin.
    If you just discovered my channel, don't forget to like, subscribe and share with your friends!

With over 500 videos to date it can be quite challenging to look for something. Also, check my website, where I have more information neatly organized.
    Check the community tab on my channel page as well, I post updates there all the time.

    Note: Click "Read more" for the correct answers at the end. The contest is closed. It will take me a bit to go through all the answers to figure out which has the most correct listed. I got screenshots and made a spreadsheet lol.
    To win the giveaway:
    You must list ALL the TH-cam videos in which I have posted faux gemstone tutorials - be they videos or live broadcasts. Only the faux gemstones tutorials, not fantasy stones or "meh you can do this too", not the ones where I separated a longer tutorial and reposted it in parts, or the projects done with them. The intros for the paid tutorial faux gemstones do not count either.
    The person who will first give the most correct answers within 48 hours of this video being posted wins. The comments have time stamps so it's easy for me to see who has posted the correct answers first.
    I will not reply to the comments that list the videos, I will only announce the winner at the end of the 48 hours.
    For subscribers within the US, the prize is a Neverknead machine.
    For subscribers outside the US, the prize is $100 worth of paid tutorials from my store (you choose which of them).
    Good luck! and thank you for being my subscribers!

      They are nice! I prefer the Black Diamond ones though, they have more pizzazz. But I wanted to use something most people would have or can come by easily

    The CC was hilarious. The Neverknead was referred to as Never Nude (yay for Arrested Development reference) and Neverland. I won't enter the contest as I am already fortunate enough to have this machine - which I love. Great tutorial as always!

    Have you ever done a tutorial on ruby zoisite? It is one of my favorite stones. It reminds me of roses in a field of grass.

    Hi Kalyana, I didn't have any white alcohol ink so I replaced it with titanium white acrylic paint. I mixed in using the same method as you. I must say I have had a very nice result. I don't think there will be a problem with the paint. What do you think?

    • @KalyanaDesignTutorials
      @KalyanaDesignTutorials  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that if you did your filaments thin enough to allow the light to get through to cure the UV resin, you shouldnt' have any issues. I'd suggest in the future to actually get a few drops of titanium white acrylic pain in 70+% alcohol and use that. You can even make your own white alcohol ink. You can find 70+% alcohol at pharmacies, usually, it's under $2. I get mine from Target usually. Lower % than that doesn't work.

    • @keldaycreativeart
      @keldaycreativeart 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Kalyana. I have some alcohol so I will try adding white to that. I have loads of acrylic paint, so if this works well I will make a lot more inks. Thanks again for a great tip. x

    To replicate an opal with any level of accuracy with uv resin is possible but very difficult and requires many attempts .
