once I deleted tik tok, I never felt the need to go back because my brain focused its attention to my actual hobbies or taking care of myself! actually glad to see more people talk about this!
I don't mean to sound all preachy, but ever since I deleted all social media, my life has been so much better. Granted I don't get the current memes or pop culture events going on, but my attention and productivity has been a world of a difference. If I want to check something, I'll use my laptop. Much less prone to doomscrolling insta or tiktok!
Girly this is NOT preachy!! I've done the same thing! I don't think our brains are designed to have that much input and it's so bad for your mental health, for me, in terms of comparing myself to others. Pinterest though? Love it forever ❤
i think you would like the book 10 arguments for deleting social media by jason lanier! it’s one of my favorites. i love internet culture and get so much out of social media (on top of having to use it for work stuff), but finding a better balance and being more mindful of what/how im consuming is something im trying to improve 🩵
As an autistic person I am not good with emotions so the emotional roller coaster TikTok causes is way too much for me 😂 I followed for your cosy games videos but I have also deleted socials and start reading more recently so this is great timing ❤
I appreciated your vlog and honesty on unlearning this habit! I also have had higher social media usage and realized my body and mind needed a break. I have slowly tried reading again solo and in a book club, connecting and learning new hobbies, and mindful walking with a mediation, podcast, or music :) Also for the night scrolling, you could try to set up a getting ready for bed routine that includes your reading and putting away your phone!
This made me so curious about my own screen time; looks like I average 3 hours a day between Facebook and instagram. A lot of that is insomnia time, but more of it was during the day which surprised me. That’s for sharing this project with us!
It’s so true. Sometimes I learn things from tiktok. But it’s so fast moving that I come away and try to think of something I learnt, and even if I did at the time, it just doesn’t register properly because it’s FAST
You have the best vibe! I didn’t read a lot this summer because I was really social, which was great, but it kinda put me in a really slow reading vibe and I can’t seem to go back to the way I used to read before! So I would really appreciate a video about reading tips ❤️
I appreciate your honesty. As another person with anxiety, I find TikTok a comforting brainrot space when I'm awake at 4am when the rest of the world feels blissfully asleep. But you're totally right - that compulsive "consume consume consume the content" feeling creeps back in at times when it's not welcome, and ends up gradually taking up prime hobby/interest time that could be spend on something better.
I deleted tiktok back in 2022 and some other social media and have put a lot of work into working on myself…I’m not trying to be judgmental, it’s more of a fact, but I’ve noticed my friends who use tiktok have worse habits than those who don’t…Sleeping, eating, even socially. My friends who I considered “so responsible” have slipped so much due to their screen addictions. Take it seriously if you notice you’re addicted to your phone. A good way to test is to put your phone down and set a timer for 30 minutes…if your anxiety goes haywire maybe it’s time for a dopamine detox.
This is why I don’t have TikTok. Instagram can distract me enough! More reading, less screen is a something I was doing ok at then we got a kitten. She’s very distracting if you are reading a physical book. Many have teeth marks now 😅
i just checked my screen time and holy moly, i'm averaging 4 hours a day on my phone?? i'm always so sad i never have time to draw or read anymore... i think im gonna try a digital cleanse too 💕
I have to delete tiktok every time I find myself using it ALOT. my mental state and my anxiety goes down so much every time i delete it but I always end up downloading it again lol.
So agree about your enemies to lovers you’re looking for! Have you read Spinning Silver by Naomi Novic? That’s one of my favorites. I genuinely thought she would murder him and she would have been right

I like this concept. I 'm going to do this but with Instagram.

yess so agree like i think it can really be helpful for quieting down my brain but i just have to be mindful of how much i reach for it
This vlog is so good ! Thank you for being so open about your social media usage

I can’t even download TikTok because I KNOW I will get sucked in 😅
ahah fairr
honestly good decision. i avg 4-8 hrs depending on the day. it’s bad how addictive the app is
This is a sign for me 😅
I got a Boox Palma recently and I love it! I don’t use it for anything else but reading and it’s perfect. I also feel that I read much faster on it.
Me: I don't need to watch stuff like this. I don't spend that much time on tiktok.
Also me: Where did the last 4 hours go??
so real 😭 i was shook when i saw my screen time
I just find ur name on our english book(Macmillan education) , there was a page about books, bookstagram and booktube and there was u!
omg wait really?
@@cozymonica yeah really!

yesss i love that book so much!
i cant let myself have tiktok downloaded because it will consume my whole day
I tried this in August and was semi successful but then it’s September and idk if it’s better or worse lol
ahah i feel you
lol. Tati on her QVC stream 🤣🤣
she’s always selling something on live lately ahah
I don't know how much more productive reading fiction is over scrolling on social media if you already have good reading skills though.
the point isnt to be more productive though
really enjoyed this video and im proud of any step you take! two minutes or two hours of difference; its all worth celebrating 🤍
thank you 🫶🫶
