- Requested by many people. A longer video of gorilla Thandie. So I've made a longer video of her. strolling around, playing with daddy. Enjoy the video!
Thandie (born 26-11-2018) lives in Zoo Antwerpen (BE). She is the daughter of Matadi and Mayani. She lives with four other females; mommy Mayani, Amahoro (Eastern Lowland Gorilla), Mambele and her daughter baby 'V'.

Every baby gorilla is precious in its own way. I love them all, grown up or young, but Thandie has stolen my heart for some reason. She treats her baby sister like a baby of her own, practicing to be a mommy someday, and she is so darn cute. Just adorable with that round bald looking head of hers, and that sweet sweet face. Plus she is so gentle and lady-like for a gorilla. I love you Thandie.

New to Matati family, and I'm absolutely falling in love with baby Thandi. Different than watching Kintaro. She seems so careful and deliberate when she moves around.

We are so lucky with the horror of the virus and the world today to have access of our favorite Gorilla families due to certain people who go out risking health to share these beautiful moments with us to keep our spirits up and smiles on our faces.

Jep, has to do with the breeding programs. They can't have to many Gorilla's to fast because there's no place to bring them when they grow up ;). Now they can control it better. But I'm also happy she already has a sister! It will be so much fun seeing them play!

This is late, but she's adorable. Where is her mother?
Poor Thandie. She wanted attention from the silverback so badly. He just kept pushing her away. I guess in the gorilla world he didn't want to be seen as being soft, ha, ha. Thandie is so pretty. She has a beautiful round head right now. Maybe it's my mood but she looked lonely in this video. Independent though.
Silverback Matadi was eating, he was actually kind of nice for her, could be worse. I've especially filmed her and the whole group was eating ;). But remember it's only ten minutes out of the whole day ;). Next video of her will be more playful with her daddy ;)
Not true. He touches her affectionately. You should see how Mamotaro of the Kyoto Zoo treats Kintaro around food. A world of difference. Mamotaro is indeed mean towards his infant son at feeding times, unlike Matadi.
@@montaraful i didn't say he was mean, I said he pushed her away. I didn't take into account the fact that he was eating. Thandie mimicked him when he tossed a piece of food aside she tossed one away too, but she had 2. Cute.
montaraful isn’t that the truth. No comparison in the two silverbacks first sure. Kintaros daddy is mean to me.

Thandie need to meet Kintaro
Are the clips recent? 'Cause she's the same age as Kintaro from Kyoto zoo, but she looks scrawny compared to him. Granted, he's a boy, but i'm not sure if the size difference should be notable at this age
This is recent (two weeks ago) ;). But girls are always smaller then boys.
She's a little girl that's why she's thinner
She's a delicate little flower. She's also beautifully groomed. The interaction on other videos of Thandie show that she is 'Daddy's Little Girl'. Kintaro on the other hand is way more active and fast! He's such a little ball of fire. I love when he hangs from one hand and flails swinging and banging his chest! 💖

Where is Thandies mom mayani at? I’ve just started watching these videos and In the description it just says she lives with three other females but doesn’t say where her mom is and I was just curious
Mayani is one of the other females. Thandie goes on adventure whenever she gets the chance. But no worries she still drinks with mommy and often rides a long on her arm or back ;). And woops very sharp of you, a mistake in the description. I've changed it ;)

@@jennifercole9527 no problem. Sometimes I write these description when it's late haha. I missed Mayani, so it was a good tip and a good question ;). You can always ask thing ;). And I try to put the names in the videos sometimes. Somehow Mayani escapes my frame many times LOL. Next week I'll try to film her because more people have asked for her ;p. I worry about her due to being so little and not seeing her with her mom anymore. Were is she getting the much needed breast milk? What happened to her mom?

She get's plenty of breastmilk and still sleeps and rests with mom. But when Thandie gets the chance she goes on adventure. And Matadi and Amahoro are playmates for Thandie, so you'll find her a lot around them ;)
Hi Liekes Thanks so much for the 10 minute video. Thandie at this age is very independent unlike Shufai at 2 years. Most of the time, he's sticks with is mom or riding on her back. From the Gorilla land website, I just came to know that Thandie is Mayani's 2nd child. No wonder... She had her first daughter Kambiri on September 16th 2011 at Dublin zoo. Kambiri is now 9 years old.
Thandie is now going on 2 on 27 Nov 2018 n Shufai is going on 4 on 24 Sept 2016. Is there any news of Baby V's name yet? Another thing is that the other day, u said looks like a girl n you're so right turns out n confirmed that she's a girl.
Liekes, if it's okay with you, could you pls also type about yourself n where u are from n if you're going to Antwerp zoo n the journey on how long it takes u. I've read in some comments that some ppl think you stay very near to the zoo. Maybe if you could have your mini bio on your YT account on About. Would that be okay so that this will be permanent. Hope u don't mind.
Hi Beth Ann, you're very welcome. Thandie is indeed already very independent. But no worries, she's still a lot around mommy and ofc still drinks with mom. Mayani is indeed a mom with experience ;). Thandie is actually born on the 26th just before midnight ;).
You can vote for baby V her name on the facebook page of Zoo Antwerpen. The choises are: Vizazi, Virunga or Vunga. I prefer Vizazi because it ends with an 'i' just like her daddy Matadi and half sister Thandie. Also mambele's mother is called Zazie, so I think Vizazi would be nice. Pls vote :)

If you're curious. I go weekly to Zoo Antwerpen and it's a one hour drive for me to get there. So I do not live near to the zoo. I come from Holland :).
@@LiekesShotOfLife Yes I know. U've explained that I think in May in one of your videos where u shared with us your home. But recently in one of your videos, someone said you live very near Antwerp zoo n she said you're the SV of Europe. Can't remember her name. So that's y I suggested u put the distance from your home to the zoo. U remember we also talked about Maastright n Andre Rieu's orchestra? also for your son to attend when he's older?
Another suggestion is that u could also put where everyone sees. I forgot the distance from your place to Antwerp n said ur place is about 4 hours drive.

Antwerpen isn't that far its a one hour drive (single ride) so not 4 hours. Pairi Daiza is 3-4 hour drive. I want to go there sometime too.
