    I can’t tell you how much confidence you have given me in creating things out of plastic. I have always thought we are wasting and not reusing. As a surfer and surf coach our industry is planet mindful but also wasteful. I have made my first surfboard fin an I will continue to make things from recycled plastic from my community. Thank you Dave and your team. You guys rock

    I LOVE the idea of the recycled plastic outlets and switches! The color options are endless!

    As a skater, a skateboard is a really bad idea. You would scrape the tail on the ground and shred plastic everywhere. I would recommend using an organic material on any point of contact on anything that would wear down or you're creating micro plastics.

    • @psacentralcoast6970
      @psacentralcoast6970 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      jessejamesb your already leaving polymers (plastic) every where because all the skateboards we use are glued ply from maple and other trees, lots of polymers are use for this process. We are also creating more C02 by chopping down the trees. Lesser evil plastic which isn’t micro fibres. Micro plastic fibre floats in the air and is very dangerous to breath.

      How about making long boards and Penny boards instead then, as you don't use them the same way? Obviously, the long board would have to be strengthened in some way, so it wont bent, but still

      I’m going to make all kinds of decks from plastic. It’s a no brainer!

      @@psacentralcoast6970 yeah, but he does have a point, it will be ground down, which is a potential issue. I don't skate, but it sounds like you do. Would it be possible to coat the bottom of the skateboard in something, or would that be senseless?

      Hey, Jason, the guy
      behind the skateboard here. This concern did pop up during my research phase but i still consider it a step in the right direction. If you look at the state of the plastic before; (1.6kg) it mostly comes from smaller pieces, cups, bottle caps food wrapping. By forming it in to a relatively large product you are capturing all these small pieces and storing them in one piece, that has a perceived value from a person, so is more likely to be looked after by the owner. Granted there will be a small amount of micro plastic but: 1.) It is a small percentage of the mass of the amount of plastic stored in the board. 2.) This also happens in wooden decks as they are glued with polymer based resins, which are typically virgin plastic anyway. If you have any more feedback about the project drop me an email or sign up to my mailing list about the project ;)

    Would it be possible for you guys to record the whole process of making some new products from waste?
    It is ultra-satisfying to see waste being recycled into something useful. I believe that might go viral and help you get more view as well.

    Guys, I just want to thank you for posting all the videos and information on your channel. I'm just now starting to get into home recycling due to the local recycling truck being closed from COVID. I'm looking forward to trying a lot of the processes at home to make some cool stuff.

      Depende del plastico, El PS por ejemplo deja un olor muy característico, hay un video que habla de los VOC's en profundidad. --> th-cam.com/video/bsj6qHHLynk/w-d-xo.html
      En general es recomendable utilizar un filtro de carbono activo, no solo para filtrar los olores si no los humos nocivos que pueden reusltar de una mala practica o quemado del plástico.

      Most single use plastic shopping bags are HDPE - which they use in a lot of the projects. Check and see if there's a label identifying the plastic content on yours.

    I beam? Bricks i can understand, some bricks don't hold much force and weight. Such as fence. But i beams? if you had to call it i beam, it will lead to a question, how much tons it is going to hold? And the nature of recycle plastic is not a weight lifter, unless you put a steel rod inside. Back ro square one, then it is a steel i beam with plastic coating. Not a plastic i beam.

    • @eugenetswong
      @eugenetswong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree.
      Our bus stops had plastic beams for seats. Every 1 of them began to sag after a while.
      The only use would have to be temporary beams, or where perfect straightness isn't a big deal for the life of the beam. Maybe skateboard ramps?

    Precious Plastics needs to learn MASS.
    MACHINE BASES are currently made from EPOXY GRANITE ... and other minerals.
    So... IF YOU WERE SERIOUS....
    YOU COULD WASTE A LITTLE PLASTIC on developing NON-METAL FRAMES for ALL your EQUIPMENT DESIGNS.
