On New Year's Eve, which marks the end of this year, we will hold a New Year's Eve event that can be enjoyed by many people, including adults, children, and even foreign travelers, in order to share with participants the diverse charms of Tokyo and expectations for 2024. Will be holding a countdown event "HAPPY NEW YEAR TOKYO".
The event will feature a light display using projection mapping, as well as appearances by singer-songwriter Piko Taro and Sanrio characters, allowing you to experience the diverse charms of Tokyo. Additionally, at the finale of the event, lanterns filled with wishes for the future of Tokyo and the new year will be launched with a countdown.
This countdown sees hundreds of lanterns being sent up into the air in Shinjuku.
Entry to the event is free, but you’ll need to register in advance to participate in the lantern release. There will be areas to see the show without advance reservations.
The event takes place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office’s Civic Plaza, around a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Station or 1 minute from Tochomae Station. It’s right in front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
