3:38 I think Tui's reason for Crystal's existence was to have a physical focal point for Snowfall's self-doubt and paranoia. The anticlimactic resolution of that plot line sort of makes sense in this context; it's basically a message to Snowfall to chill out, and she sort of does. At the very least, her paranioa loses a bit of its intensity and direction after that encounter.

I've read all the wof books at least 14 time and I only notest like 4 of those.
I felt it was more of a bridge then filler. A story to help move things a long and point the story in the needed direction.
Solid review, not too far from my own thoughts, lotsa setup, a few cool things involving the animus and some character interactions I liked

I got very sad because I have an sky wing OC called Opal (my birthstone) and a leafwing OC called Ivy (a special name to me). Now those are both used for canon characters so I don’t know if I can use them anymore :’l

@@faenene From what I’ve seen, it’s usually fine. You might have to clarify which one you’re talking about in situations where you don’t have a picture of the OC when you’re talking about them, but other than that, I’m pretty confident there’s no harm to be done. True, there might be a few complainers and gatekeepers - you know how the internet can be - but I’d think they’re better off ignored.
I can’t decide what drawings I enjoyed seeing the most in this. Grumpy Snowfall, cute Mink, screaming Bumblebee, dragonet-sitting Lady Scarab, crying Blue, anime Winter, or the two Jerboas.

I kinda wish the scavengers didn’t exist. Dragonslayer was great and all, but why can’t the scavengers and dragons be two seperate species? It’s kinda dumb to me. We finally get ONE dragon series where humans don’t control or ride the dragons and Tui ruined it. I was kind of hoping that Dragonslayer would be a one time thing, but no, they just had to bring back the scavengers and make up with the dragons. Not to mention that would be really stupid and pretty much impossible, not only impossible to talk to and understand the dragon but also to convince them all to stop eating scavengers, there are some pretty stubborn and/or fucked up dragons. Anyways, thank you for coming to my Ted talk, I don’t like the scavengers :))

If this book is ruined, the series was ruined back in the brightest night when Rose was a main character in the climax. This book isn't going to become a dragon rider series. It's just not. It's a dragon book series and that's what Tui decided to make it. Just because there's a law that you can't _eat sentient beings_ doesn't mean the series is ruined or that every dragon will follow it or that the dragons and humans are friends or anything.
@@DragonsAreGreat As much as I agree, I’m not entirely focussed on dragon riding. I’m focussed on the fact that the scavengers are getting a role in the plot. This series is more meant to be about dragons, and I guess I got kinda pissed that humans had to come in and ruin it. There are so many series where dragons are either an unintelligent species or mindless followers of humans. Also the Scorching happened for a reason. The scavengers aren’t meant to be in control, and to the dragons (before Wren learnt to speak dragon) they were simply monkeys.
I guess I was kinda of hoping that the series would have less to do with scavengers and more do to with dragons. We’ve has so many series where humans and dragons ally together, so I kinda just want something different from that same human-dragon story again and again. I 100% see your point of view, I just don’t entirely agree.

I think it could definitely be possible for a human to learn to understand and speak dragon, although it would be very hard Wren had plenty of time. The main thing I don't understand about the learning the language is that.... Sky had literally just been born when Wren found him. He shouldn't know a single word of dragon, yet is able to fully speak it. Idk might be some thing an animus did a billion years ago where they made all dragons able to speak at birth but wouldn't that also apply to bumblebee who hasn't spoken? If it is still a spell it could also be that the animus specifically said the 7 Pyrihan tribes, but this whole thing is a bit out there anyways. As for the instantly accepting humans, I think there was off screen time where that could've realistically happened, it has been a bit since I read the book though. And I do say realistically because Winter was there
In my opinion, this book is a lot slower than the other ones and while it is a filler, it was kind of letting the Pantalan Dragons catch their breath after how action-packed the past few books were for them. I liked it a lot because it gave a lot of needed information and was basically preparation for the next book which must be full of action as it is the end of this arc.
Jerboas story was intense and I am glad it was in here. This book wasn’t only on Snowfall which was interesting but I liked how each memory or each event the ring showed her, made her realize that there is a lot at stake if the Ice-Wings stayed isolated.
And now the scavenger’s are getting a bigger role. Vole is a very suspicious character.
Yes, these are exactly my thoughts on this book. Sometimes you need an episode/book to just breathe and calm down.

This is all my opinion, I respect everyone else’s opinion and your free to disagree :)
Though I did find this book as filler, it really made me appreciate Snowfall more. I think the book was just here so we could get some Snowfall content. I wish there was more going on in the book besides Snowfall, but I wouldn’t say it was awful. I enjoyed her character and I related to her a lot with her anxiety and stuff. I wish Crystal could have been used more in this book, but at the same time it helped Snowfall understand that there is more to life than just ruling over a kingdom and having a high status, as she was raised with those morals. I think Crystal was there to give Snowfall the realization that if her sister can move on with life and be happy without her status and the rings, than maybe Snowfall could as well. So I agree on you with the filler part, but just because it was a filler doe isn’t mean it wasint good. So I agree with a lot in this video. Overall, I feel like this was a nice book to read and even though I wish the plot was better, I don’t blame Tui. I mean, what else would you put in this blank spot? You can’t really time skip where the dragons are going to war and stuff, something has to fill it in. Maybe Tui just found it hard to fill in those gaps and make it to the climax and I don’t blame her. As a writer myself, it’s hard to fill those gaps, especially if you have a dead line and need to come up with something. I think Snowfall was there to give us a better understanding of the Platala dragons and other dragons we haven’t explored much. Just like every TV show or movie series, there will always be at least one filler episode and that doesint always mean bad. Though this book had some flaws, I though it wasint to bad and was nice to take a small break from all the drama and look into some underrated dragons. Again, this is just my opinion, you are free to disagree.
(Also explication on the pink leaf wing, there are actually some pink ish plants out there if you look them up! Funky, I know. I was confused also, but I’m guessing leafwings have a color pallet of any type of plant, like greens, browns, reds, gold (like fall leaves), and even some pink. The pink doesint dominate every single part of a leaf wing, just there frills like a normal plant of that color. Plants have these colors to attract bugs that either help them grow, or carnivorous plants that lure them in to eat them).
I actually really enjoyed this book, the only thing that bugged me was the way that the human thing worked out, it just felt like crowd service

I'm really glad this book was here because I used to hate Snowfall and now I love her. The only reason this is is because it made me consider what they might be thinking, not just what their actions are. I didn't mind the break too much, and I really did like seeing into some side characters.
In this book, I feel like the main character’s personality changed the most than all the other books.
Winter changed as well, but it was over the whole of arc 2

I know you probably won't see this, but I was inspired to draw dragons by you. before I started watching you I wanted to draw dragons but thought I couldn't. then after a while of watching you, I tried. now I am fairly good at drawing dragons and might even get a drawing tablet. One thing I've always loved about WoF's worldbuilding is that it allows itself to have a flawed society.
- The rain kingdom is Negligent and careless with no care for organisation or purpose.
- The sand kingdom is chaotic and poverty stricken due to the constant scrambles for power.
- The sky kingdom is violence obsessed consistently distancing the audience from those they're executing and with a leader who's power is so engrained in it. They seem untouchable.
- and the ice kingdom is hypercompetetive with no room for an ounce of failure.
My problem with how WoF is going: it keeps getting rid of all of those things. It seems that a society's fundamental flaws are unable to escape a single good egg. This didn't start with Snowfall, it started with Glory, then Thorn and then Ruby. all of whom have at least one moment where a bystander looks in awe at how great a queen they are. Because as royalty. Either both she and her kingdom are both perfect or they are both terrible. So if you want a great queen her kingdom cannot be flawed
That's why i kinda like Coral. Because she's pretty bad at both of her jobs (queen + mother) and the narrative doesn't really fix anything about her rule? Just eliminates one thing that made her kill her subjects over and over. 'S a bit funny.
The Ice Kingdom still has problems that haven't been solved yet, Snowfall smashed the rankings but that only does so much

@@DragonsAreGreat I think that's the point. Even though she's made up to be a good queen and mother by the other dragons, she is actually extremely flawed and abusive to her children (neglecting all her son's and chaining her only living daughters to her so they have no privacy, no friends and are forced to be around their mother all the time so that means no imperfections either.)
Tbf the Sand Kingdom is still flawed. In DoD we see Scorpion's Den is still full of poverty and criminals, so it's not like Thorn magically got rid of that (I'd argue it was better before she became queen because she was pretty much the ruler of the place and could help the poor dragons)
What I liked:
Snowfall being possibly aromantic. She stated something negative about love while talking to Crystal and someone said Tui said she won't be getting a love interest. (To all you Skyfall shippers, she said she liked Sky because he reminded her of Mink, so it's a more "you remind me of my sibling i will be like a big sister to you" relationship.)
The peek into the little civilizations outside the kingdoms. I thought it was neat.
Jerboa's backstory. I loved it, it was horrifying, and I need more of it. The psychological horror was REAL.
What I didn't like:
The destruction of the wall and gift of order. She didn't talk over her decision with anyone at all, and I think that's kind of dumb. The ice wall and gift of order was what made the IceWings unique, and it sucks that it's all just gone in a few pages.
HUMANS. I came to read a dragon book about dragon things, not humans! Dragonslayer should've been its own thing. Wren honestly makes me mad because she's such a Mary Sue to the point where when she should be likable, I absolutely hate her. It baffles me how the humans and Sky were just immediately accepted after a few moments of "wAiT tHeY cAn sPeAk dRaGoN?" I don't know what I expected, but it certainly wasn't "yes we trust you to go on this dangerous mission despite us knowingly killing hundreds of you and you killing a Queen and starting a war." Like. . . there was no conflict between them? That's extremely hard to believe.
I'm ranting but I just really hate how Tui shoved humans in the book. Otherwise everything else was pretty good.

When i first read that paragraph about how the queens would make eating scavengers illegal, my first thought was "noooo i liked when they were inferior, they should've stayed that way >:(".

If we as a species suddenly discovered that chickens (idk, just roll with me here XD) were a sentient species, I can see some things happening:
1) FURIOUS denial from the big companies
2) eventually the truth would get out and no more chicken or eggs would be sold, homes would be built for the chickens
3) for a while, even if illegalized, there would still be people who still killed the chickens to eat them
4) over time they would another sentient species that we befriend, yadda yadda.
I feel like that happened but super fast with the queens, but without the denial that animus magic was being used or something.
I would've liked to see a....C plot? going on where they were trying to outlaw and protect another sentient species.
Yeah, the IceWings, in my opinion, are WAY less interesting now. Plus, how would most dragons react to that? Snowfall just destroyed basically their entire societal structure and traditions that have lasted for millennia, not to mention making the list of IceWing animus gifts even shorter. You’d think that would have quite the negative effect on most of your tribe, especially considering most of them already didn’t have much faith in her.
I still like the icewings even without the ice cliff and gift of order I think it gives winter and some other icewings more opportunity to be relevant

Snowfall made a lot of big decisions regarding the gifts in the end, but I think she made the right choice. While they did make the Icewings more unique, there's a good chance for them to come up with a new system that isn't stuck up like the gift of order. I also did enjoy the book even if it was filler. Tui always struggles with the 4th book in an arc due to what needs to happen, so making it go to Snowfall's POV to take care of the refugees I think was a great idea. Leaves the best (being what may happen in Pantala) for last!
I would argue that she most definetly did not make the right choice the gift of order has been a part of icewing history and tradition for atleast 2000 years and she just decides to smash it just like that. While i agree that it had to be destroyed for the kingdom to progress toward a more peaceful era and advance their society in general she does this without any previous preparation or plan. At the moment most of the icewings have a pretty negative opion of her and now she just destoyed some of their most ancient artifacts. I wouldn't be surprised is if Tundra starts a rebelion and tries to overthrow Snowfall.

The crown was really nothing special. It was made with the dragon equivalent of racist intent, and wouldn't have helped anyways since Snowfall mentioned that some IceWings wanted to make amends with the NightWings. The crown would've made that impossible, so it's better off destroyed
The ice cliff doesnt really serve much of a purpose anymore since the continent is at peace. Snowfall didnt want the IceWings to be completely cut off from the rest of the tribes, especially since they have to be united. Not to mention the trouble it caused in the beginning of the book where they had to take the Pantalans far out into the ocean just to avoid it
The wall is the most debatable, but I think for the most part it was a good thing that it was turn down. We saw how horribly it can affect dragons from Winter Turning. His family pretty much resented him for being so low in the rankings. While I do agree that Snowfall probably should've had a plan for what to do after the wall was taken down, I think for the most part it will affect the tribe positively.
And honestly, it would be pretty cool to see Tundra try to start a rebellion. I think it would get pretty heartbreaking since Glacier didnt want another war over IceWing succession, and then here comes Tundra starting a civil war
@@lpsgirlanimations3974 Could put Tundra in her place if she fails at that civil war/rebellion. Also Royalty does make impulse decisions once in a while, and I believe if Snowfall took time to discuss and plan if she did want the wall taken down, most of the tribe esp the higher circles would oppose it because it gave them a chance to be special where they shouldn't be. The gift of order reminds me of certain governments in a way: the top stay at the top and feel special while the bottom stay shamed at the bottom with almost no way of getting back up without doing something drastic that can make or break everything, like Winter bringing back Hailstorm and interacting with other tribes to do so.
If we ever see a timeskip epilogue of the Ice kingdom after arc 3 ends, I bet the Icewings will be so much happier and more at peace because the wall was removed. No dragonets have to spend all their time trying to be the best and start hating their own tribe because of it. No wondering if doing a certain action will taint your status.

Yeah the WoF world at the moment is filled with good queens who are just and fair and keep their subjects in mind *coughs at coral* but it's not like that's gonna last forever.
It's a monarchy, and any other positions of major power seemingly are chosen by the queen, not necessarily based on merit *eyes corals council*
There is at least some social movement in the icewing circles - remember how Lynx is a minor noble? Would she and Snowfall have ever grown close if not for the rankings giving Lynx the opportunity to prove herself and go toe to toe with the royals?
Yes the rankings suck, but it's not like the other tribes system is all that good either.

I was looking forward to seeing Winter again after not seeing him for THREE WHOLE BOOKS and I was pretty disappointed.
He only showed up for a few pages, is not going on the stealth team (just imagine the character development potential between him, Moon, and Qibli if he was), and the fact that he didn't see Snowfall destroy the walls was stupid. His entire life has been dictated by this so I'd imagine seeing it destroyed would be pretty cathartic for him.
Yes it's filler, and yes, it's one of my favorites
I loved this book so much, although, I love every wings of Fire book, and most of the books I read in general.

Personally I think this book might even be one of my favourites in the series now. Wasn’t a lot of action or anything like that (and I do like myself a lot of action) but personally I could see my old over thinking, anxiety though the roof self in snowfall a bit and seeing how much she grew in just a short period of time made me so happy. Might have been mostly filler but it was filler that I throughly enjoyed. Snowfall is relatable to me and I was so happy to see her tear down that stupid wall and open herself and her tribe up to the world

Okay my thoughts:
- I liked part one snowfall, and i was kinda sad how she lost all her personality after her week-long unrealistic arc.
- i hate lynx; shes annoying and can shut up, and im annoyed she went on the journey instead of winter
- mink is okay. I dont think too much of her.
- for some reason this book made me NOT like bumblebee. She just kinda felt like she was in there so no reason- oh wait she was.
- i honestly hate the ship skyfall; i dont think sky should be paired up with anyone (DEFINITELY not wren ew), and although this wasnt too forced and was more mildly suggesting it, i feel like this’ll end up like ripnami: out of the blue, there just because the protag needs a love interest. However this time sky isnt as blank as a whiteboard like riptide.
- i agree on crystal- she has so much potential, yet none of it is used.
- i 100% AGREE that this book is filler- however i disagree on it being a “good filler episode”- its not an episode. Its a book, and should be treated like so. Books shouldn’t be filler.
- this book set up the oncoming climax well- a little too well. Not only does that make it filler, that means the climax will probably be rushed and ending with rainbows and icecream, if it has the normal length of a book. Im hoping that either a.) the book ends on a cliff hanger, then the fourth ark picks it back up in the future “(maybe in an apocalypse style), or b.) this book is longer than your average book

What part of her arc was unrealistic? Yes it happened fast, but she also didn't immediately switch sides, sticking to her paranoid/traditional ways for a few days. Plus, seeing a literal DICTOR WHO COMMITTED GENOCIDE (or tried to) having the same thoughts/reasoning would be pretty shocking, along with seeing inside the minds of other dragons and feeling their feelings
Tui confirmed that Snowfall does not have a crush on Sky at all she just thinks he's funny and she did say he reminded her of Mink, also Tui said Sky has no idea what a crush even is

Honestly, while this book maybe fillery, i LOVED it. I loved reading about Snowfall. I loved the new Sky content. I loved so much about this book since it made me sympathise with Snowfall! And that's an achievement considering her previous actions. I feel like her destorying the gift of order makes alot of sense for her character; she thinks about how annoying it is to do multiple times (hell even Glacier said it was hard) and the realisation that it's pretty pointless just,, speaks to me.
Also Crystal existing created Snowfall's douts and anxieties so in my mind, her existance is justified

I think that the implementation of Crystal was used to show Snowfall that most of her anxieties, fears, and speculations aren’t true. If we took Crystal out of the book, Snowfall would have probably never learned that, and would still be highly skeptical of everyone and everything trying to “sneak off and kill her” :P

Book 14 is okay as a filler I guess but as a book it’s really lacking in my opinion, Snowfall has no time to develop her feelings by herself. Instead a ring is what changes her completely. The ice-night hate crown is so stupid I’m not even gonna talk about it-

I feel like a ring is what gives her the tool to change. It doesn't manipulate her emotions and change them (like Anemone loves spell on Kinkajou), just lets her see what other dragons are thinking and feeling, which changes her mind (along with thinking out what-if scenarios if they had stayed isolated) because she's actually a decent dragon, just anxious

I honestly dislike the idea of tearing down the IceWing gift of order, as it was a distinct trait of the tribe that made its hierarchy interesting. I also feel like her arc WAS a bit rushed, but overall the book was good and I enjoyed it.
However, I do think that the hierarchy should still be in place, but dragons in the 7th circle have an equal chance to go up.
Anyone remember that poll where they asked if they should hold the video hostage? I'm pretty sure saying "DO IT COWARD" might be the reason there's a 48 day wait

Biggest animus overlooked flaw- We know animus dragons don't have to say "I enchant" to specifically trigger an enchantment, proven by Fathom yelling "Spears! Kill my grandfather!". We know animus dragons can accidentally enchant things, and don't need to have the conscious intent to enchant something, as seen by Anemone saying, when Darkstalker asks if she's done any new enchantments, that she has accidentally enchanted objects before. Also Albatross enchanting the clam, unless, of course, the entire story was just a cover and he actually knew he was an animus, which is possible but unlikely. We also know that you can enchant other dragons- the whole Darkstalker/Arctic fiasco, plus Darkstalker just touching Fathom and saying to remove his magic. So, explain to me, HOW DO ANIMUS DRAGONS NOT ACCIDENTALLY ENCHANT OTHER DRAGONS?!?!?!?!?! We see every single animus tell another dragon jokingly to "shut up", or to stop doing something, etc. So how do they not immediately respond to the unintentionally cast spell, or how does the animus NOT cast the spell??? Huh Tui??? HUH????
Remember in book 7 when Winter was the POV dragon? Remember when he went back to the Ice Kingdom and was moved to the first circle because he brought Hailstorm back? Remember when Snowfall was the character that you wanted Winter to destroy in terms of circle rankings because she got annoyed when she found that Winter was moved to the first circle?

I feel like the end of book 14 was very rushed, all the sudden she just smashed everything then ended her book.
I've actually been planning on making a story about the underrated/forgotten characters in the series, and now Sheepie gave me the idea of including Pineapple in it. Pineapple Pineapple Pineapple. I already know that I'm gonna include Io, Hailstorm, and other * hint hint * characters who died before we saw much of their backstory. Try to figure out what I mean by that.
Is Asha (the mudwing who was supposed to bring the skywing egg for the prophecy but Burn killed them), Carnelian, or someone i haven't thought of

The sudden Focus on having human as part of this kinda ruins a bit of the "A world of dragons" magic and was one of the main reason I read the series, feels out of place and added to have a bigger net or target audience
NGL, I loved when she snapped at the end and destroyed all the old icewing gifts such as the wall and the ranking board.
Even tho there is a 49 Day wait i am still hyped

Edit 3: dangerous gift was definitely my favorite book so far I know some people don’t like it much and I can understand why but I personally love the scavengers and this book was just more chill and idk why but the more recent books have been some of my favorite so far
Also a tip to maybe help those who don’t like the fact that humans are getting more involved because that’s one of the reasons they liked this series because there weren’t main character humans just try imagining them as something else like my friend imagined them as ferrets but you could imagine them as mice, frogs, lizard people, cats, or even another made up creature this helped my friend a lot I don’t know if it will help you but maybe it will still be fun
Edit 4: also I have noticed the fourth book of each arc tends to be like this where it is setting things up this is also the case with a lot of book series where the second to last book of an arc just sets things up
I really like the Gift Of Order, I loved the idea that IceWings are rigid and stern, and that MIGHT change, but they're still pretty and nice to draw- Plus, the IceWings have been doing the Circles for longer than many could remember, they might still be raised to be more rigid than other Tribes, but who knows. Who knows..

I never liked the wall in the Icewing tribe,
It made me feel like the Icewings couldn’t do anything without being judged and it sort of looked like a curse rather than a gift since they all were being judged by literally everything they do
I know some people don’t like this book because it’s mainly filler, but when I read it I loved it. Yes, it doesn’t really have a big plot but…WREN AND SKY ARE IN IT!?!! Dragons and Sca- Humans make peace (in a way) and, like I said, WREN AND SKY ARE IN IT!
Honestly, I loved the decision to get rid of the gift of order. Its an aspect of IceWing society that does little more than instigate needless competition and feed into self-worth issues, and I wanted to see it torn down since Winter Turning. Sure it was unique, but it was also disastrous to Winter's mental state in a lot of ways, likely had similar effects on hundreds of other dragons who didn't get the same opportunities to see other systems, and created a social climate where it was acceptable to force two dragonets to effectively fight to the death at best, and lie to and sacrifice one at worst.
Also I'm pretty sure Snowfall is aro, something I really hope stays in future installments because by the spirits beneath the ice, we need more representation.

Hear me out. I understand that it makes the tribe more interesting, but no offense, I think ice wings are already too interesting and overrated as it is, that they don't need the wall. They have frost breath, Icicle spikes on their back, lots of animus touched objects, the ice wall, the BOARD, the LONGEST KNOWN animus magic line ever in the history of pyrrhia, and the people to have the lost continental dragons come to them, and a HUGE war between the night wings with an epic back story to it, PLUS I remember in the book that she said that they have ICE SPIRITS?!?! HELLO? Doesn't anyone think that's a little too much?
I think Tui spent too much time focusing on ice wings (when they are already cool and over liked) even though she should have spent more time on the tribes that people don't really pay much attention to, (aka mud wings, sea wings, sky wings).
We barely know what the mudwing's castle look like due to how unpopular they are, and in my opinion, thats totally unfair.
Also, now that Snowfall destroyed board, ice wings don't have to be so anxious and in stress all the time wondering if they are going to get moved up or down. They don't have to be forced to try to be the best, kind of like what Winter went through.
Especially the ice wall. She destroyed it, and now other dragons that aren't ice wings can explore the beautiful icey tundras and admire their culture. And then maybe Snowfall can even reconsider making Ally's and creating schools mixed with different tribes, teaching other dragonets to get along. So everyone in every tribe can live together with peace and harmony :D
So yeah, there's my logical opinion ✌🤪
My first oc was a rainwing Nightwing hybrid named Pineapple, and she lived before darkstalkers time but she had some sort of enchantment on her that allowed her to live until Queen glory’s rule, and you got the pineapple ref you made EXACTLY to my pineapples! So I now have a theory that tui read my mind and implanted my pineapple into the book because she liked the idea of her! XD (also the Book pineapples personality is almost IDENTICAL to my pineapples personality!)

The reason Crystal being in the book didn’t have a payoff is because we needed to see that Snowfall was being unreasonable and paranoid, having Crystal actually being up to something would ruin that.

Honestly, I don't know why but I absolutely adore this book in particular- I loved her character development and how she saw from others perspectives- and she just girl bossed in the end. But it's definitely one of my top favorite books in the series-

My friend pointed this out to me, and I saw it as well, but Qibli and Winter act more like a couple than Qibli and Moon ever did.
