Only other thing I look for in rams is temperament. Yes, they can get a bit worked up and that's normal but if they're super flightly and afraid to be handled at all, that's a concern and if they're overly aggressive (particularly rams), it's a hard no for me. I want animals I can handle and don't get stressed out easily, that I don't have to constantly watch my back around.

Good point. Aggression is a huge thing to look out for with rams and bucks! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a helpful tip. 😎

I am debating on whether or not to get some sheep. I raise goats as my "cash" (one of these days it will be) livestock. But I have always enjoyed lamb. If I got sheep it would be mainly to raise meat for our use. I have raised a steer before, but with cattle prices shooting higher, I don't think I can afford to get one this year. Katahdin is a very popular breed in my area.

Katahdin are a good breed to start with and are generally low maintenance compared to some of the other hair breeds and most wool breeds. I think that would be a good breed to go with, especially if you have stock available in your area.

Yes. Getting them shorn is first on the list! It’s also very difficult to get a good honest look at them with all that wool. Thank you for watching.
