I first heard of Teo's name when Maynard Ferguson mentioned him during the live recording of, Live At Jimmy's. This 1973 vinyl release is still among my favorites.
Unlike Avakian, the legendary Macero was not only involved with jazz record producing, but also with classics and popular music - and he worked with company president Goddard Lieberson on the original cast recordings of Broadway musicals. These videos of him talking about his work with producing all these facets of music are absolutely invaluable. How lucky we are to be able to see them.
George Avakian and Teo Macero were the two main people who made Columbia Records' jazz releases so great. What a treat to see Macero here, talking about his experiences in the Columbia years. Thank you AHM.
I WISH HE WOULD HAVE ELABORATE MORE ON WHAT THE GIGS AND PROMOTERS DID WHEN THE BRITISH INVASION CAME ABOUT OR HOW TITLES CAME ABOUT LIKE ,FOR INSTANCE EMM DEE'S BITCHES--BREW, OR LIVE---EVIL...

People throw the word "Genius" around way too much these days...Teo was the Real Deal. He was THE man, imo.

I love the advice of people that have actually done it. A legend I am sure of here.
