Heron Lake State Park: A New Mexico "Quiet Lake"

- Situated at an elevation of almost 7,200 feet, Heron Lake State Park is located in north-central New Mexico. The 5,900-acre picturesque lake is approximately 4 miles long and 3 miles wide and has been designated a quiet lake where motorboats may operate at no more than trolling speed. Surrounded by tall ponderosa pines and grassy meadows, the lake is a perfect place for a weekend getaway or a family vacation. It is also a popular lake for fishing with record-sized trout and kokanee salmon.
