I have had a variety of breeds and on average, find Brahmas to be an amazing addition to your homestead/hobby farm! Especially if you are in a colder climate!
We had a flock of Dark Brahmas but had to sell them when we moved Arctic North. We called them the ‘girls’ and they followed us everywhere especially my wife. We missed them immensely and plan to get another flock of them when we move to Nova Scotia.
Love your approach and take! I'm a first time Chicken Mama of a small flock of four. I got them as young pullets, as I didn't think I could handle the chick/brooder stage with my work schedule .... This is a 20 year long dream, finally come to fruition! Mixed flock of breeds, but only a couple of weeks apart in age (2 and 2), so they're doing so great! My chicken dealer mentioned the Dark Brahma (wasn't on my initial radar, but I was staying open minded), and he had one available just feathering out. He had one (adult hen) of his own he showed me, and I was just dead in love! I'm 3 weeks in now, and oh, boy... Little Jerry Seinfeld is just the BIGGEST character! She's already jumped in my lap and looked for loving, where the others are a bit more timid... I said I didn't want to pick a favorite, especially right off the bat... But this girl!!! She's just so quirky and wonderful!

Brahmas are sweet chickens. Their eggs dont fit in some cartons.
