- Gen. Tariq Khan has been Ex-Head of Pakistan's Central Command, and Corps Commander Mangla, First Strike Corps. But he earned his fame when he, as IG FC, he organized under funded paramilitary and lead it to series of victories against TTP, Pakistani Taliban. He managed this when earlier regular army expeditions had failed to rein in TTP violence. But in this country he notes with a hint of sadness that successful operations inside one's own territory can not called, "victories".
Gen. Tariq Khan, a Pashtun, comes from a very educated and distinguished family of Tank. He is fluent in Pashtun and English and prefers explaining concepts in English and that's why this discussion is in English - also because this interview was recorded for English magazine, Global Village Space and its transcript will be published there. Most Pakistanis are very disappointed that Afghan Taliban after taking over Kabul did not eliminate TTP, and instead asked Pakistan to offer them peace negotiations; in this context a recent discussion with Afghan Affairs expert, Tahir Khan (Ex-BBC Pashto) is importan to watch. Tahir Khan argued that TTP was always linked with Afghan Taliban and perhaps not helped by Indian Agencies. However Gen. Tariq Khan argues that as Commander who fought against TTP, he had seen evidence of Indian help and support to TTP.

Not an easy road because every institution has senior members who are beneficiary of this exact same system, and more people are joining and benefiting from this.

Mukti Bani succeeded because of Indian support and more importantly Pak army was fighting a battle 1000 miles away from her headquarters.
We were not able to resupply our forces adequately both the manpower and required armament because of the phenomenal distance.
The German army also faced similar challenges during WW2 at the eastern front as the lines of communication grew longer and longer upon reaching Moscow and it became unsustainable.
This war should not be initiated in the first instance because Bengal was surrounded by India from three sides, rather the military regime should have respected the public will and sentiments for Sheikh Mujeeb ur Rehman and handed him over the power and save the nation from such embarrassment.

Problem with Pakistan🇵🇰 is that military brass who are Matric passed with all cantonment comforts & entitlements think they know everything about civilians on the ground and that their solutions alone solve all problems facing a nation. This military brass do not give politicians a chance to function and interfere in Government administration on a day to day basis.
Taliban, TTP have been " strategic assets" aimed at providing " strategic depth" to Pak Army.
It was ISI Chief celebrating Taliban coming back in Kabul, and it was ISI through their " peace deal " - who brokered return of TTP fighters and their families back into pashtoon areas from across the Durand line. So to cry hoarse about alleged Indian involvement doesn't stand merit.

I also watched Nisar Ali Khan's interview that he recently gave to Saleem Saifi (unfortunately one of the most hypocrite journalist) and when you listen to what he said about TTP and TTA you can connect the dots, as you usually say to make an informed opinion.

This is for Gen Tariq. You grow, what you sow. You created Taliban and they are your worst nightmare. Indians will say what they have to say but you cant do anything about it. To the question Dr Moeed asked you if you were expecting this, you could not answer straight because you were not expecting this. You were in jubilant mood when Taliban too over Afghanistan after all its the Afghans who will suffer and Pakistan could enjoy all this but its all back fired.
Listening General Tariq will help us to better understanding of Afghanistan situation i wish other Military officials come in the open and talk about it more

Pakistan is disintegrating on its own. Being an Indian I can say Modi and Doval are overrated ( may be better than MMS and congress but that is not a standard to go by) India should have used all tools at it disposal to neutralize Pakistan by now and I mince no words here for what Pakistan has done in the subcontinent for last several decades. You never give any leash to Pakistan, they will spare no chance when the situation gets little better if at all it does.
