Yes you got it right. Prāna is the Life Force. Mukhya Prāna is the Chief of Life Force who lives in your body along with your own Prana (Soul/Life Force). Mukhya Prāna is the force that leaves the body first before you die. Then the Abhimani Devatas (Abhimani Devatas are those Demigods that control the various organs in your body) leave. Then finally the Yama dutas (Servants of Death) pull the Prana out of the body. Then the body is considered dead.
The other name for Mukhya Prāna is Vayu. The translation of Vayu is Wind. An extremely powerful Vedic Deity. He is the controller of the Prāna and the Abhimani Devatas in each of our bodies. Without his power, this body cannot sustain the life force.

Shiva represents the Ultimate, the primordial life force which is there in every atom in the universe …. He also represents the vast nothingness in the space…His dance is considered symbolically as the process of creation and also the culmination ( “layam” in Sanskrit)…

@@LearnWithUsOriginalsAnother thing..(not trying to bore you though!)...According to Vedas...the so called "Shiva" is also just a representation of the Ultimate. The actual God is described as formless, attribute less, colorless, odorless, gender less and very subtle pure conciousness. It is hard to understand and know that...and the only way we can know and reach that is through meditation.

Bro... Adi yogi which means THE FIRST YOGI refers to Lord Shiva.... A major hindu deity... One who created yoga.....
Lord shiva is said to be infinite and nothing.... He has no beginning or ending... One who creates and one who will destroy the world.... He is immortal but he dies in every death in the world.....
For Lord Shiva says " What had been born..... Has to die... What has been created... Will be destroyed.... "
    React to Shiva Tandav......

Oof! That’s some big stuff there. It’s so hard to put all of that into words. This substance, but also the nothingness. Life and death, these go beyond our human understanding. Thanks for the suggestion on that subject to react to, much love!
