    Oh there's definitely friction back there because you have hair back there... it's just broken off. It's not like it's not growing like u have alopecia or something.. so that's good. 😊

    Great video. I also wear wigs as you do, seven days a week for two years now --I don't sleep in them. I’m transitioning, and I had problems in my nape area just like you until I changed my braid pattern for the nape area. I saw YT -Kibibi video and she suggested braiding the nape section horizontally. My nape area is now longer than the rest of my hair. It’s also easier to deposit product and keep it moisturized when it’s braided horizontally.

  • @thebeautyremedy4602
    @thebeautyremedy4602 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I had this problem, but at my crown, not my nape. I discovered that I have different textures at different areas of my head and they all need to be treated accordingly, so maybe you have a more tightly coiled or zigzig pattern in the back, since that curl pattern is much easier to break, it probably needs more care, and also the friction from the band of the wig would hurt that area much faster than say the front or crown. I'm 4c at my crown and 4a in the back. 4b on the sides. So since I figured that one thing out, my crown finally grew out to match the rest of my hair within a year. Nice end result though! :)

      @shayfay00 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have crown breakage too it's so bad about half the length in the crown needs to be cut. The crown is so dry and coarse. I think my problem is sectioning in 4 puts tension on the crown and laying on my back puts pressure there.

    • @kaylynboyd2035
      @kaylynboyd2035 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I found out too that every time my crown breaks off and gets real thin I usually go to the doctor and my vitamin d and iron levels are low so that’s a big part of it too

    4c hair doesn’t look one way y’all 😑😑. I hate when people get under somebody video and try to tell them what hair type they have. Sis know her hair Type and I believe her lol. 4c hair doesn’t always look nappy. Y’all can have your curls popping if you just moisturize and train your hair..

      Oh girl this is ignorant. Yes we tell others their hair type to help people with actual 4c hair. For you to say that not all 4c hair looks nappy. No hair is nappy, her hair just isn't defined naturally it's not 4c not everyone knows their own hair type because you don't always see others with every hair type. so going online and seeing this is 4c but it's a girl with 4a isn't accurate.

    • @christanom7484

      @@nikkisears7671 my hair is 4C but because I do wash n go's every other day it is constantly well moisturized and eventually my curls were becoming more and more defined to the point where even if I just run my hair in water my curls will pop, and it looks like 4a/b. Someone who doesn't know would say my hair isnt 4C.. And mind you, I'm 100% Zulu. So I have bantu hair

      Nikki sears I think she means not all 4c hair is dry looking and matted...that’s what a lot of people think of when they talk about 4c. Also, 4a?? That’s a reach. She may have a little bit of 4b mixed with 4c.

    I think 4C hair is the most amazing hair ever!!! I know a lot of women that complain about it because maybe they feel it's hard manage but I love the way it looks rather its straight or natural. I love to touch women's hair when its that texture. Its strong and holds a style well and for longer periods of time. That press out would last 0.000009th of a second in my hair smh. Absolutely beautiful

    Your hair is so pretty regardless, I had a bad perm when I was younger and it created 2 big bald spots in my head and I had to get shots to make it grow back from the dermatologist. It's heat pressed and pre conditioned. It's the conditioners, black hair needs super conditioning. You do NOT want to use straitners in black hair, it will potentially kill the hair at the root. Do NOT try to process your own hair.

    I too have 4C hair and have a permanent relaxer on it. I will say 4C hair best for hot iron straightening and perm relaxer because of its course texture and thickness. I have a love and hate with my hair. The good news for me is I can manage it long or short while straightened, but not so much when in its natural state.

    I've learned because the center of the back of my hair is much shorter than the sides. I only use silk like scarfs to wrap hair. I mostly sleep on my back also. I never put my hair in a bun or Scruggs around the hair it puts extra tension on my hair. Dont wear hair bonnets to sleep. They can take your hair out. Since I've stopped doing those things the center of the back of my hair has started growing.

    I miss Atlanta stylists. When I first moved to Dallas I went to several salons trying to get that good press but they all turned out stiff. One even said I had to keep getting it pressed so it can be "heat trained". So it's been 9 years since I've had my hair straightened and 9 years since someone else did my hair. I miss the experience. But I guess I'm saving money

    First your hair beautiful no one can take away from that. I just wanted to share that I have had the same problem with hair at the nape of my neck and I wanted to share with you what I found was my problem. Perhaps it can help you if you have not explored this possibility. My hair at the nape is now 5 inches compared the rest of my head which is about 18. My problem was anemia, iron deficiency. The condition is often silent and effects brown girls disproportionately. If you have not explored this option, have you PCP run some blood tests. Its easily treatable and I have never seen the hair at the nape of my neck flourish so well… in life. Be blessed.

    Hi idk if anyone has mentioned it yet, but I have heard that the friction and the breakage at the nape of your neck could be due to the way you’re sleeping, if you sleep in the spot it’s likely to break off due to consistent movement and friction. Like the lady I heard this from compared it to a baby that has a bald spot on the back of their head, when they sleep on their back. That’s my 2 cent love the video and your hair 💁🏽‍♀️

    braids done properly (straight parting and not too small or big pieces of hair attached to root) do not ruin the hair. it is when you don't take care a the braids that ruins the hair. hair still needs moisture and to be tied down with satin or silk scarf when in protective styles.

      I know, when I had my relaxer I had no choice but to wear my hair straight when it would stay straight because it would not hold curl without a whole bunch of Hairspray which I would sometimes use around the bang area just to make the style look a little more interesting until the humidity made it all turn into a puffball despite the fact that I had a relaxer. So the hair stylist on here, tell me why that was happening? I feel like it was a waste of my money for years with the relaxer that I got only to retain the hairstyles that I was trying to create and it really never did.

    I have the same exact problem hair u have. I cut my hair a few times but it still doesn’t grow even. I was thinking that maybe the cause of this when I get my hair perm the hair stylist did not rinse the perm out good in the back of my hair. I always have a problem with dandruff. I can wash my hair and still have flakes in my hair. I did some research and found out that tea tree oil is good for dandruff. I will soon go to a dermatologist to see why I’m having this breakage problem. Also I changed how I tie my scarf on my head at night I tie it to the front because to the back maybe causing friction.

      This doesn't look like a real salon, this is a house stylist.

      Yeah but plenty of house stylists have thick healthy ends & know how to trim them.. lol Hopefully she gets better at this or else she's gonna need a MAJOR big chop. Those ends are scraggly..

      ok. Just checked her videos, she hasn't done another hair one yet. Maybe she'll bless us with a good trim video soon, that'll be relaxing... lol Cause this video kinda frazzled my nerves. lmbo

    My nape is my problem area as well. I just dab a little perm on its perimeter to smooth it out and keep jbco on it. My hair is braided and under wigs but it is steady growing in great now 🙂

    Aw dear why did you straighten your natural beautiful curly black hair? Be proud of it, be happy with it. You are born just the way you are, and pretty the way you are!

      She is pretty indeed and isn’t it amazing how we can do what ever we want with our hair and still look fly and love ourselves no matter how we choose to style it. Straight, curly, don’t matter 😁

    How long do you keep your hair like that? I stay with my pressed 3 weeks Max because I guess it's dirty but doesn't really feel it is

    The hair in the back would of been cute as a undercut. I did it because my hair was similar to yours and once I cut it it started growing back and now it's almost caught up to the rest of my hair.
