Wei yinglo and the emperor are so cute together. I wish he could have just faced and admitted from the beginning his like for her instead of accusing her of being a bad person cause he didn't want to face his real feelings. He was falling in love with her and it scared him cause the only one he actually loved was the Empress...his first and true wife, but he saw the value in Wei Yinglo and how she was so different from his other wives.

I really like the 'Mantis' scene towards the end. It's Yinglou telling the emperor that she will play tricks on him (and others) to get what she wants, but she was also not hide it from him.
There has to be something said about Li Yu and Dasheng lol they really add to the series. All of these actors are just amazing 🤩

Aquí finalmente FuHeng reconoce que el emperador y Yingluo eran pares, y que era natural en el emperador quererla para él. FuHeng le falló a Yingluo en el momento clave por miedo y falta de experiencia y eso lo llevó a perderla, por eso él trató de compensarla y ayudarla hasta el fin de su vida...a sus ojos, él le debía. Por eso lo incluso a las puertas de la muerte él le pide su perdón y una segunda oportunidad para comenzar en la otra vida. FuHeng perdió frente al emperador porque no supo entender en su momento que en la guerra y el amor todo se vale, sin temor a las consecuencias. El emperador jugó sucio y se valió de su poder para hacerlo retroceder, y FuHeng no supo plantarle cara. La difunta emperatriz le dijo : te vas a arrepentir de esto. Si hubieras aguantado un poco más el Emperador hubiera cedido! Ese es el porqué de que Qinlong obtuvo a Yingluo.

Fu Heng en todos los sentidos fue mejor persona que el emperador. Además su conexión espiritual, la lealtad mutua y el respeto que el y Ying Luo se tenían nunca desapareció y hasta el emperador tuvo que entender y tolerar este lazo inquebrantable de amistad.
Porque sí bien es cierto que Fu Heng perdió a Ying Luo por su falta de experiencia y su debilidad, también es cierto que Ying Luo se enamoró después del emperador con la convivencia. Nunca se puede negar que el primer amor de ella se transformó en una amistad y lealtad bonita que duró hasta la muerte entre ella y Fu Heng. Eso también es una forma de amor verdadero que simplemente se transformó con el tiempo.
El emperador con todo su orgullo y su personalidad temperamental después de aver obtenido y estar seguro del amor de ella también aprendió finalmente a confiar en ella y entender que era prácticamente imposible y muy injusto no dejar que Ying Luo y Fu Heng fueran amigos a distancia. Después de todo el fue quien los separó cruelmente y el le debía este acto de entendimiento y tolerancia a Fu Heng.

It's based on a true story, but I don't know how closely they followed it. She actually ended up having 6 children and died by poison at about 50? I think. Hopefully someday I can get a copy of the written version in English! What a fascinating story.

Given how old this history is, I find it reassuring that the tradition of housebreaking men was already well established, back in the day. And the poor guy is being allowed to continue to believe he's in charge.

This is why the scene in the finale episode where Yingluo explains that she won the Emperor's love by """not telling him she loved him""" doesn't make sense to me, he loved her because she didn't treat him like the Emperor, she treated him like a man, and was unapologetically herself around him, totally shameless in both her schemes and her childish nature. The idea that she tricked him into loving her by withholding her love just doesn't make sense. Their entire relationship is built on them both knowing each other really well, the Emperor is definitely a few steps behind her in knowing what she's scheming, but he always knows what she was doing in the end (and trusts that she did it for the right reason, at least once he's totally on board with her), and they both know each other's personalities so well, there's no pretence between them, they're not going through the motions of rank and how they *should* treat each other based on title (unlike SOME people), Yingluo won't allow that, she's always been herself around him (to a certain degree, it was obviously too dangerous to get TOO familiar for a long time) and won't allow him to pull rank when they're alone together.
How many of the other concubines would have told the Emperor that they didn't like his poems? They're taught to carefully try to please him at every step, they HAVE to because it's literally their jobs, but Yingluo didn't even pretend to like them BEFORE she was a concubine. This is part of the reason why Xian never won his love, she was ALL ABOUT being proper and doing exactly what she was supposed to, she bent over backwards to be the model Concubine and Empress, but could never win his love. If she'd let go of some of that rigidity he probably would have liked her more, that's why she's so tragic. Similar thing with the previous Empress, she was definitely more comfortable around the Emperor, but she's so trapped by the rules and expectations set upon her, that's it destroys her in the end.
An underlying theme of the show is about being yourself and honest in what you think/who you are/what you want, and I think it does itself a disservice to try and say that Yingluo tricked the Emperor into loving her by just not SAYING 'I love you', I really think that in the finale scene she should have told Xian that she won him over by being herself, by treating him as a man and not like the Emperor, I think that would have fit better and hurt Xian more, it's way more impactful to say, "hey you've been wrong your whole life" rather than, "I had this one ~SPECIAL~ trick"
I honestly felt like it made a lot of sense and was very meaningful. Like you said, she got the emperor's love by being herself however she didn't let him take her love for granted. The emperor has all the women in the world bending backwards for him telling him that they love him and are willing to do anything for him. He doesn't care for any of them because once they say "i love you" to him it's meaningless and they're just another lady who's willing to say anything that pleases him. Literally once he thinks hes gotten your love he loses all interest in you because he knows he can fall back on you at any time and you're not his priority. Yingluo not telling him "i love you" basically leaves him wanting more and to keep pursuing her because people want things they cannot have. And the more time and effort he invests the more he wants Yingluo's heart. This does play into Yingluo's character about being herself and speaking her mind but ultimately, she was observant and realized that to survive the harem was to find a way to keep the emperor coming back. Hence her lesson to Xian was asking why she told him "i love you", because once she did the emperor wouldn't keep her on his mind and view her as every other woman that has approached him. Yingluo figured out how to play the game while other women were blinded by desperation for the emperor's attention.
But Yingluo wasn't herself. She molded herself into what the emperor would be attracted to, that being the opposite of all the other concubines. She made sure that she wasn't like everybody else fawning over him and always expressing their love. The emperor was bored with the other women and never loved them because he knew that either
1. They really lived him and would do anything they thought would please him (being a beautiful flower)
Or
2. They didn't love him but would still fawn over him (by being a beautiful flower)
So she played on making herself different but also on the fact that she never expressed her love so that the emperor wouldn't think that she was like everybody else.

No doubts. I'm pretty sure she's slowly falling I love with him around this chapter. She just realizes when Chenbi appears. She ends up having children with him, right? She became pregnant, the thing she feared the most, just because she loves him. As she says "A woman should be eager to have children just with the man she loves" she's technically telling him she loves him.
