Trading Herschel Walker and winning 3 super bowls along with Jimmy "...Hey, how bout them Cowboys..." Johnson propelled them.
The thing that made the Cowboys on the map was the fact that they traded Herschel Walker for so many pics and got the deal of the century which proceeded to land them three Super Bowls in 4 years they're on field success created the opportunity
As a Packers fan, I still laugh at how gullible Minnesota was in 1989. The Great Trade Robbery is a perfect title for that trade.

Jerry isn't responsible for that as much as you want to think. EVERY NFL franchise has gained enormous value between then and now. Jerry just rode the NFL popularity train. What made the franchise profitable beyond that you can thank the Vikings (and Jimmy J) for. The Herschel trade netted 3 SB rings. Ca-ching!

I don't think anyone can deny what a great businessman Jerry Jones is. The teams problem is unfortunately he just isn't as good at the football side as he thinks he is and he just isn't willing to accept that 'maybe' he needs to give someone else a chance to make those decisions and trust in what they are.

@@drexelhorne4082 Correction, he "purchased" 3 Super Bowls by buying off the late (idiot or colluder) Minnesota Vikings GM Mike Lynn, culminating in the most lopsided trade in sports history (see Herschel Walker trade). That "trade" is what allowed the Cowboys to draft Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irving, along with some decent players that they acquired in the Vikings trade. Like him and/or his team or not, you gotta give it to him, he's a shrewd businessman
