Yeah i agree but this is still badass lol. The final version would not have the same feeling if it was LaBrie before the food poisoning and singing his ass off every night.
The intro on this version seems influenced by the WDADU mindset, which I love. The studio intro seems a little more a mature and fitting in the context of the song. And I def agree about the vocals in the demo, but the studio recording did happen shortly after labrie's food poisoning incident. That could have been a factor, but im just speculating. I love this song to death regardless
I love the intro on this, and the intro on the final studio version, but think I like this opening a little bit better. The pace of this version is much better, it's faster. James' vocal lines are MUCH better in the final studio version though.
I know this version is tuned upward from its original demo sound (look at the live version of the 1993 ACOS for reference), but aside form the comments regarding a WDADU reference, i think the studio effects on the vocals kinda sound like a bit of some of Labrie's days with Winter Rose. I've only listened to one or two songs from labrie's first major band, but the studio effects kinda sound the same.
Labries voice was great but there is a difference between singing high notes great and choosing the right singing melody for the song. And I think (please, people, please forgive me for saying this) his food poisoning incident was a blessing for the final version. Plus the final arrangement is superior too. I get much more emotion from the final arrangement than from this one
I prefer it with the 7-string and the haunting intro, it's a lot darker, more mature and effective.
holy cow. I love James Labrie.
Thank you sooo much for posting this Obviously this is a masterpiece and MUCH better than any other version :)
I love this version, but I also love the studio version for some of the additions and changes. Thanks for posting!

Absolutely stunning! Keep on uploading :)

this is really cool...I like hearing the riffs that didnt make the final cut, etc...that first atonal one is a killer
Glad I'm not the only one who hears it.
"PLEASE DON'T GO!" Love it!
WTF!!! its awesomeee!
Thought the released version was the apex in music...sigh then this insanity. Is jlb doing harmonies before autotune :). Amazing.

I think its just the tape being sped up
No, there is a time where they play this live with Moore. I'm sure you'll find if you look.
This version for musicianship. The latter version for composition.

Ssssssssssssoooooooooo Emotive!!! :) :) :)
The Fates Warning influence here is so obvious.
@Thedanceofeternity2 It's interesting. I love the "Europa style" XD in the next minutes XD
I think this is just a half step higher due to the recording. I found another video of this song live with video and it's one half step lower.
This IS the original version!
James sounds like Steve Walsh of Kansas in this demo.
Pt. 2 gone :(
I disagree. James LaBrie has much more passion in the early ACOS recordings, and the lines display his range and abilities better.
this guys are big...
I think they should have incorporated that first riff somewhere in the final song.
Hey I was curious if you still have a download link to this song/release?
This tuning literally makes LaBrie sound like a woman
I love DT, but damn, LaBrie was trying so hard to be Geddy Lee back then.
hahah...legal.
horrível, mas legal.
