      Thankyou. Donkey served his time around cows before GRASSMEN took all his time. He loves getting back into a good shed of cows.

    Top video, great to see videos showing the girls that mean we all get to have fun in the field, I think a lot of people forget that and it’s great to see someone like Gareth showing enthusiasm for the cows 😊👍

    Great looking farm and nice to see you embrace the technology in the shed too. Would you or have you ever looked at some of the other parlours and the technology in them?

    Finally get to see new Lely A5 definitely different to A4 as I had chance to work work with. Dookie Agriculture in Victoria, Australia has nice setup with A4. It’s unfortunately low price for milk, cheese means it’s hard justify the cost.

    That shed is worth more than my parents dairy farm in NZ.
    How much feed does a system like this go through a year?

    That is a shed and a half unreal how much for set up like that for 60 to 80 cows

    Thinking about how much hassle that equipment would have saved my dad when he was a dairyman, an the heifers could be a nightmare, one broke his wrist with a nifty wee kick. How much servicing do those things need?

    • @Grassmen
      @Grassmen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of them come on a full service contract. Its not cheap but it keeps the machines running.

    Pushing up feed increases intakes, one of the few things that actually does increase intakes.

    Worked for lely uk for 4 years in st.neots and the very 1st robotic milking machine in the uk came into our yard and i worked in the transport dept at the time and myself and the other forklift driver tossed a coin to see who would unload it , i lost so andy jumped on the forklift and with ALL OF HQ including mr lely himself were watching on with great pleasure my friend decided to use his forklift instead of the big climax and as the yard was slightly on a slop he picked it up and steadily reversed he braked suddenly and well the pure horror on everyones face bar mine was evident as it rocked on his forks oneway then the other and then it happened.....BANG BOOM CRASH ! YES it fell off in dramatic style ! Smashed to pices and worthless , i had to run off into the shed and laugh till i cried ! Oh the memorys

    What happens if the cow has mastitis

    • @eoinduffin7815
      @eoinduffin7815 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the robot can scan for mastitis and will dump the milk instead of putting it in the main tank if a cow is infected

    • @johnwakley7165
      @johnwakley7165 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Used to work with delaval robots and it did milk conductivity scanning which is related to cell count, you’d check the cow and if she had mastitis you’d tell the robot to dump her milk
