I played a few hours last night and just had one of those rounds in Al Maz that remind you why it's so special.. infil solo.. killed by one four man, plead out.. another three man show up and revive me and we cook the four man that just killed me. Went onto have a bunch of other PvP encounters across the map culminating in getting killed by a team who were exfiling in the gas...one of us JUST survived and then it was a desperate rush to revive each other and get to final with seconds to spare. It had it all.
Phix I think you’re right that DMZ is dead until at least the next iteration if modern warfare. Which is why I think two things: 1. They will probably keep up the DMZ servers longer than expected. But 2. I’m done paying for any new COD titles until they go away from this stupidity. I came back to COD games for the new modern warfare series and the fact that it was clear they were interested in innovating and doing new things. If this reversal is true - it’s not just bad news for DMZ, it’s bad for all of COD IMHO.
I wonder if there would be even more players on DMZ if they at least kept it updated. I for example really liked DMZ, but with the lack of company attention it feels lonely even going back to the loading screen. So now I just chill now and then with MW3. I liked the maps for Invasion more on MW2 as well. MW2 had better memories for me than MW3.
I still can't believe that a game mode which was and is so popular could get binned so easily who is making these decisions I get that there trying to stay loyal to the franchise but the DMZ mode has such a massive following it's crazy
I have seen You tube creators going back to DMZ. Me and a few friends that met in DMZ are starting new accounts to start over. I’m sure there isn’t an immediate DMZ solution but there is definitely a player base out there

With the news you've just dropped, and leaks coming out all the time, the chance of DMZ coming back in any form looks dead in the water. Out of all the modes CoD has or had, DMZ was the one mode that kept me playing. So grateful that folks like Phixate, ON1C and a like are still playing the mode. DMZ could have been its own thing, it could've been improved upon for months to come. Alas they gave it a short life and dropped it like a cold stone off a cliff. Such a shame. I don't fancy BO6 at the moment. Sad times ahead.

Thanks for another great video Phix. I disagree with the logic though that they will update DMZ to match the pack functions in the new COD. Whenever you go to play DMZ the game shuts off the MW3 launcher and then starts up the MW2 launcher in order to run DMZ. It's pretty clear they already don't think of DMZ as part of the current Warzone package. I don't see them changing a thing about DMZ and probably just letting it ride until it's really and truly dead or more hopefully, replaced.
DMZ brought me into COD and if it goes so do I most likely. I dont enjoy BR or MP at all. I personally think activision made something magic with DMZ. I am going to hold out hope that they are simply seperatating and differentiating core gameplay mechanics from the other modes.

MW2/DMZ was the reason I got back into CoD after quitting the Franchise for 15 years. It looks like I'll go back and find other titles to play since DMZ is going to die. I don't expect the Devs will miss me, and don't expect they'll listen to why I left.

The only thing I can think of is if they decide to separate out DMZ to its own game that’s separate from Warzone, then it would make sense to them to have different mechanics, but I agree this isn’t good news for DMZ.
He's right, this is terrible news. I'm so bummed. Our best hope might have to be a totally unconnected stand alone game, but that's a longshot. A Blackout/DMZ hybrid would have been so great. Picking up all the gun attachments etc...sigh
The backpack mechanic made cod better I just feel like they could have done a merge of dmz and warzone for a mode that's just like warzone but letting you plea and join squads
The changes make sense for warzone because warzone is not dmz though. There are plenty of games that come down to who has the most stims. You’re either stowing stims for the movement glitch or your stowing to just out live your opponent in the final circle.
I think Black Ops 6 will be more tactical than MW3. I hope they bring DMZ back in the future. I think that they are taking their time with the next one.
I think all signs point to them separating the two and making them more of a different game to capitalize when they decide to release DMZ as a solo game

The best thing to happen to warzone was the 3rd weapon slot in the backpack, gives the option of having 3 weapons to switch between when playing or 2 weapons and fist for increased sprint speed.. One of the best things about DMZ is having the option of using 3 different weapons, etc close range weapons, medium to long range weapons and sniper rifle or launchers.. Was dissapointed when i seen zombies copy a lot of DMZ and only had 2 weapon slots while removing the 3rd weapon slot from the backpacks especially considering zombies uses the contraband stash system forcing you to play with 1 gun if you want to exfil a gun for the contraband stash. Hopefully another company buys DMZ and makes it a separate game, would be good to see Ubisoft develop a extraction shooter game similar to DMZ, Rainbow6 Extraction was average although it showed Ubisoft had an interest in developing an extraction shooter game, well if they turned Ghost Recon or The Division into open world extraction shooter with the DMZ warzone movement mechanics we would have a better game especially with the Ghost Recon and The Division maps which are 100 times better than COD maps, all Ubisoft game maps have always been good..

I didn't mind rainbow 6 extraction the map was just a bit small, an open world map like Ghost Recon but with the extraction shooter plus pvp and better movement mechanics similar to DMZ..
If they bring back dmz nothing will be the same except spawn killing that'll never change. New maps weapons bosses movement don't expect alot from Activision
Blackout is still the best BR available. No respawn, one life. None of this buy back if your crap deal. Lol. That being said, dmz is a different breed altogether. And still a very active game mode. Love it.
Until it's shut down there's always a possibility it can be pulled off the shelf and brought back. However, it doesnt fit the suite of fast kill/death/respawn hyper COD play, so even if it does come back, it wont be the early season game that made it special. Just another pvp centric mode with buy stations and work benches.
I value Phixate's opinions on the game but my opinion varies. I feel that the amount of development, feedback chages, seasons, and events was an indication that it was holding a player base. I think the reason they stopped was due to their original road map of development being completed. Based on their decisions, they realized the mistakes that were made for an extraction mode to function correctly and stopped. Just my thoughts. I hope they use the beta for a future game that they previously indicated. Hoping hard. 😢
dmz could still play with its format tho, ie missions, unlocking loot and pvpve. it cannot be just pvp games with towms empty of people or military and just players running round it is totally unrealistic, thats what makes it stand out from other warzone games, plus playrs talk to each othr and is more social. dmz must be kpt, zombies sucks
I would pay $60 + for DMZ as separate game. But Im never buying another call of duty. I been playing since Call of duty 4 (OG) even played COD2 but this cash grab games this past few years is bad

I’ll say, COD is like this and we should have known… escape from Tarkov, black ops open world, and now DMZ…. What kills me is I believe DMZ was the best thing to come out of COD since BR and especially MW2. All these other companies are trying to emulate what DMZ is for their own and are missing the mark. It's actually a bit shady in terms of business practice too I feel.. you can still spend money in the DMZ skins store and the fact that it is advertised as a Beta implies it's under development still. If you were not a more hardcore gamer following the news of what's been happening to DMZ, you could easily just load it and start playing it, not realising it could just go away at any minute.
The only way dmz will ever get updated is if Activision chooses to compete with Delta force on the extraction mode. Hate to say this but once fortnite devs got hired by Activision Cod died anything you held dear with a franchise has been brought out back and shot like old yeller. Now with the patch number changing recently what was fixed because the bots were already buffed before the patch change did they take rgls out i heard that was gonna happen. I believe the patch number changed for a reason by the devs they are just keeping it hush hush.
This sucks. I hated WZ1, and the slower and more tactical pace of WZ2/DMZ is way more fun for me. Watching each new patch strip away the game I love and bring back all the features I hated feels like torture.

DMZ has been the only enjoyable aspect of any COD for years. Can only hope it returns in a future COD. As for the decision to stop supporting this DMZ, well the devs have the data on player numbers and who's playing which game modes and how much those players spend, maybe it's not financially viable. But at the same time if they even bothered to fix the main issues (koschei glitch, underbarrel glitch, missing guns imo) then perhaps more players would still be playing and maybe even buying bundles.
i didn't like warzone 1, don't like warzone now, and warzone 2 was better too me. But i enjoy the more realistic and tactical style of play. Not the running and gunning, movement God, bunny hopping bullshit. DMZ will live forever in a lot of peoples minds and hearts, hopefully the dev's do the right thing.

I only tried DMZ after giving a good faith attempt at battle royal and not liking it. I don't like battle royale but like dmz. So any change they make for battle royal that hurts dmz loses a potential customer. I don't realy think having all these different studios making COD is a good thing. I've always been an infinity war guy so i've liked their games more since COD 4. I also wish they'd just separate the games. But i guess my time in COD came to a real end more than a decade ago and dmz brought be back only temporarily because fact is i'm not the customer anymore.

if it allows me to uninstall everything but DMZ and save the hard drive space, I'd be fine with that

Until it's shut down there's always a possibility it can be pulled off the shelf and brought back. However, it doesnt fit the suite of fast kill/death/respawn hyper COD play, so even if it does come back, it wont be the early season game that made it special. Just another pvp centric mode with buy stations and work benches.
I value Phixate's opinions on the game but my opinion varies. I feel that the amount of development, feedback chages, seasons, and events was an indication that it was holding a player base. I think the reason they stopped was due to their original road map of development being completed. Based on their decisions, they realized the mistakes that were made for an extraction mode to function correctly and stopped. Just my thoughts. I hope they use the beta for a future game that they previously indicated. Hoping hard. 😢

It's getting hard to watch "certain" streamers play a game they are CLEARLY bummed about having to still play to retain their engagement numbers.
Just watch DMZ specific streamers.. that's what I do. No interest in Warzone 3 streams..
dmz could still play with its format tho, ie missions, unlocking loot and pvpve. it cannot be just pvp games with towms empty of people or military and just players running round it is totally unrealistic, thats what makes it stand out from other warzone games, plus playrs talk to each othr and is more social. dmz must be kpt, zombies sucks
I would pay $60 + for DMZ as separate game. But Im never buying another call of duty. I been playing since Call of duty 4 (OG) even played COD2 but this cash grab games this past few years is bad
I love dmz. But I honestly hope they do not do another dmz. I hope another dev comes in and gives us a better game. Like delta force or something

I’ll say, COD is like this and we should have known… escape from Tarkov, black ops open world, and now DMZ…. What kills me is I believe DMZ was the best thing to come out of COD since BR and especially MW2. All these other companies are trying to emulate what DMZ is for their own and are missing the mark. They have such a promising mode that people I believe, would buy just to play.
They're just reverting every new feature that was introduced and that I liked in WZ2 essentially making it WZ1 without WZ1 skins
Rumor has it they are shutting down the DMZ servers at the end of the year.
I will be so bummed if that happens.

Very much enjoy your vids🤙🏽 but, I am so tired of call of duty’s lack of development of DMZ. It is or was such a great game mode. Especially for those that do not spend 20+hrs a week.

I try and try to get into mw3 and zombies, but i jus can't do it...i regret the money i have them thinking i was supporting it, to show it was with it to then to keep it up... i really think their jus waiting another year or so so they can cash in before they release another one
I just use zombies to complete weekly challenges these days because I can’t be bothered with multiplayer

I dont think they will be related. Dmz has the mwii movement system and dont think they will be integrated.
However i dont think dmz will be supported in bo6 i feel they will be retired
I honestly feel that the guys that made this decision about DMZ make me sick and to make a decision like this Really ticks me off! No one asked me did they ask you about shutting down DMZ? The community should be involved! They should take a vote or get more insight from the community that plays DMZ this is really stupid Seriously I'm not happy with their decisions to abandon DMZ. I love this DMZ this is every cod wrapped up into one game mode ! They gladly took my $$ for skins and load out's. So basically what I'm saying this decision is beyond their pay rate. It's actually a bit shady in terms of business practice too I feel.. you can still spend money in the DMZ skins store and the fact that it is advertised as a Beta implies it's under development still. If you were not a more hardcore gamer following the news of what's been happening to DMZ, you could easily just load it and start playing it, not realising it could just go away at any minute.

The only way dmz will ever get updated is if Activision chooses to compete with Delta force on the extraction mode. Hate to say this but once fortnite devs got hired by Activision Cod died anything you held dear with a franchise has been brought out back and shot like old yeller.
Now with the patch number changing recently what was fixed because the bots were already buffed before the patch change did they take rgls out i heard that was gonna happen.
I believe the patch number changed for a reason by the devs they are just keeping it hush hush.

This sucks. I hated WZ1, and the slower and more tactical pace of WZ2/DMZ is way more fun for me. Watching each new patch strip away the game I love and bring back all the features I hated feels like torture.

DMZ has been the only enjoyable aspect of any COD for years. Can only hope it returns in a future COD. As for the decision to stop supporting this DMZ, well the devs have the data on player numbers and who's playing which game modes and how much those players spend, maybe it's not financially viable. But at the same time if they even bothered to fix the main issues (koschei glitch, underbarrel glitch, missing guns imo) then perhaps more players would still be playing and maybe even buying bundles.
i didn't like warzone 1, don't like warzone now, and warzone 2 was better too me. But i enjoy the more realistic and tactical style of play. Not the running and gunning, movement God, bunny hopping bullshit. DMZ will live forever in a lot of peoples minds and hearts, hopefully the dev's do the right thing.
Honestly, I stopped playing caz Activision not doing anything about the cheaters in dmz, they should be permanently banned! Until they do, I won't play no more

I only tried DMZ after giving a good faith attempt at battle royal and not liking it. I don't like battle royale but like dmz. So any change they make for battle royal that hurts dmz loses a potential customer. I don't realy think having all these different studios making COD is a good thing. I've always been an infinity war guy so i've liked their games more since COD 4. I also wish they'd just separate the games. But i guess my time in COD came to a real end more than a decade ago and dmz brought be back only temporarily because fact is i'm not the customer anymore.
The backpack system was originally in Blackout and it provided options which was great. Blackout>Warzone.

As much money as they make off nerd kids buying skins and weapon packs they should be able to support a new dmz with a new major map. Buuut im not a greedy game studio that only worries about money not what the players want. Hell i would pay for a standalone DMZ.
