No sir, language is not merely a mode of communication, specially for a tribal language where language is inseparable form of identity. Regional form is available in each and every language so it's not s unique barrier for Santhali but yes, while writing they follow uniformity. In written language nowhere 'alinj-abin' is used. Even such a senior reporter and the anchor spent a long time on language related issues which is not so pertinent with the title of the discussion.
Please stop illogical usage of 'aabin-aalinj'. It's even totally wrong as far as santhali tradition and grammar is conserned. Being a professor how Mrs Dikumoni madam is using it and promoting it ? Though the 'standard form'' of the Santhali language is still in the ongoing process but we must try to use a 'standard form' of Santhali language which is found in years old santhali language and literature. Nowhere we find such usage of 'aalinj-aabin' just to segregate people in the name of showing respect. These two words are not merely pronouns in Santhali.Blindly imitating Hindi-Bengali-Oriya in showing respect Such usage can seriously wipe out the uniqueness of our culture and the 'sense of equality' deep-rooted in our society. These kinds of usage are completely wrong from grammatical point of view. All the experts know it but alarmingly being propagated from certain corner. While talking in media we must try to avoid it. We should try to overcome the barrier of ' regionalism' in our language, specially while presenting in the programme of such a responsible platform. Johar.
