Statistics is a branch of mathematics that deals with collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. It involves methods for designing experiments, surveys, and observational studies; summarizing and visualizing data; and drawing inferences about a population based on a sample. Statistics is widely used in various fields, including science, business, economics, and social sciences, to make informed decisions and understand trends and patterns.
Ungrouped data, also known as raw data, refers to data that has not been organized into groups or categories. This type of data presents individual observations or measurements in their original form. In statistical analysis, ungrouped data is used to calculate basic measures such as:
Mean (Average): The sum of all observations divided by the number of observations.
Median: The middle value when the data is ordered from least to greatest.
Mode: The value that appears most frequently.
Range: The difference between the maximum and minimum values.
Ungrouped data is often the starting point in data analysis, providing the raw material from which more complex statistical summaries and interpretations are derived.
