    The Feral Pig problem is very very bad in QLD around the Macadamia orchards in particular, trapping works initially but they work it out pretty quickly.

    My parents now have wild deer regularly on their property on the edge of Launceston. The problem is, hunters were given strict quotas to allow deer population growth when they were introduced. That still applies, even though the feral numbers are exploding and the number of hunters has dropped off a lot in recent decades.

      @michelledafinis3601 .depends on the area if it's a isolated area you'd be more likely to see poisoning or culling involved agleast in my experience here in nz.
      But if australia wants to get serious about getting rid of them or dropping numbers they will need to pick up a whole bunch of methods

    What do you expect given that hunters have been demonised to the point that there are not enough left to keep the feral animal populations under control.

    Like new Zealand the thing missing here is venison pies in a red wine sauce.

      The thing missing is different methods of control too as no one method will take care of the problem

    Just let hunters in. And change laws so the meat can be processed

    The notion these creatures are sweet and harmless, built up by countless hollywood movies has to be addressed by raw damage images so we can come to the realisation they have to be removed. Great production on this segment ABC.

      You are one of these miss informed radicals that want ever introduced animal removed from the landscape but them selves advising the public on un founded amounts of money lost from farm production and damage to the environment never publishing the thousands of dollars hunting adds to the economy or the fact that some farmers charge hunters to shoot the deer on their property deer have been here as long as white settlers and should be managed not eradicated

    Foxes, hares, pigs and goats are huge feral issues (not to mention feral dogs & cats) in western NSW, trouble is, nothing gets done until the populations are way out of control and severe damage is caused. You do the right thing and report to LLS, NSW Parkes and local councils and sweet FA is done.🤔

    The government needs to allow us to hunt in National Parks. With large tracts of land off limits to hunting deer and pigs have safe refuge.

    Hunters wont try to elimate any ferals cause they wont have nothing to hunt in their area. I have known people to let pigs go in areas closer to where they live so they dont have to travel as far to hunt ...go figure.

    What do they do with the pigs once they trap them? Are they sold to someone else? Does it become a luau situation immediately after?

    Just have a look at the program in the USA way that millions of feral Hogs are trapped, - and the scale of damage is done to farmland and crops. So, let's start that here in Australia before the wild bores take over our farms.

    Tricks and traps
    It would be a good little project for Duntroon to observe i think In outsmarting a animal with an fair degree of intelligence in how it survives and what works, why it works how to improvise and integrate in way they can understand

    • @TyreseSummers
      @TyreseSummers หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your spitting wrong info mate.
      The majority of nzs islands are pest free as it's more feasible and parts across the country of nz are pest free. Which I have worked on some myself. He'll I know some areas near auckland that don't have any predator proof fencing that have very few if any pest animals which is impressive.
      But if you think that getting rid of an animal on a island as big as the north or south island of nz. Then you probably arnt aware of the effort and funds involved in doing so.
      If I were to try and make a area pest free in nz I'd be very expensive and would depending on the location and size require.
      1080, bait stations and docs/ trapping, fencing and hunters.
      And probably other considerations and requirements.
      It's extremely difficult and complicated and no area is the same.
      Plus nz are the first ones to try accomplish this on a national scale. And we are world leaders and innovators when it comes to pest eradication.

    Harvesting individual animals for select restaurants I can’t see impacting wild animal numbers. Given the flighty nature of Deer, it’s not like culling mobs of kangaroos. Most hunters will see the logic being illogical.

      Mate 52 thousand deer licenses sold in Victoria in 2024 I recon there having more of an impact on the deer population than broadcasted

    It is a good thing the Australians did not import grizzly bears, tigers and lions a 150 years ago.

    Dingoes and livestock guardian donkeys for those dingoes. If the piglets are striped, it means they're native Papuan hogs, like those in the Wet Tropics.

    • @SurmaSampo
      @SurmaSampo หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are no pigs native to Australia. Also neither dingoes nor donkeys can ward off pigs.

  • @mariokery7155
    @mariokery7155 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Drones are your answer to solving the feral cats and foxes and deer, pig's. It's modifying the drones to identify, like facial recognition and night vision, heat sensors and the drones can eliminate the pest species.
