    A couple of small workflow improvements would be to allow changing names of artboards in the workspace and not just the layers panel and when option dragging to duplicate an artboard it would be good to append either the word "copy" after the artboard name or number 2, 3, 4, etc...

    But how do you exit the clear background once you created the artboard. Every single tutorial shows how to create the artboard but not how to return to working as normal.

    How can I use the scratch area around the artboard in the same way i do when using the canvas?

    Can you turn off the masking of the art boards? So when when items off/out of the art board can still be seen?

      I've been trying to find a solution for this for a week now since I downloaded the app. It seems like you can't do that if you have Artboards and it's really annoying.

    • @SaMiChi

      @@nobodyknows3260 I read about a workaround where you create a Publisher file and the edit it in Designer and it should allow multiple art boards without clipping. I haven’t tried it yet though. Definitely annoying that you can’t turn off the clipping.

      Try this: in the layers panel, remove the out of artboard layers from inside any Artboard layer. The designs outside the artboards should appear on the screen.

    As a complete beginner with affinity designer, can someone suggest a good starting place to learn? And how long should it take to learn? 🤔

    • @graziacavasino8884
      @graziacavasino8884 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It takes a LONG time, as with any other programme. I studied the basics at Udemy, then I made much practice, and then I'm going deeper into those aspects I'm more interested in. I'm far from being good after some fourteen months.

      Hi, we have playlists of the basic features for each app on the affinity channel. These would be a great place to start 😊

    Any chance changing font size of the clipboards. These are so tiny and I start to struggle to read mine when dealing with few on the page.

    Can you also do a tutorial for Ipad please? I feel like it would be simpler if in each video the tutorials also showed how to get the same results on different devices otherwise what's the point of having the application on other devices if users cant follow the same tutorials.

      Thanks to Old Bruce on the Affinity forums for the answer. This 2 dot handle will appear only when Frame Text has been applied to one or more of the Artboards. Cheers!

    I'm a complete novice and I can't see the advantage of artboards. Why not just have several different logos in one document? Or am I missing something obvious?

    • @PeaceIntheValley
      @PeaceIntheValley ปีที่แล้ว

      as you do more work for clients, you'll see the benefit of having artboards for different items - especially in combination with the slices feature.

    • @Affinity_Katy
      @Affinity_Katy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you have different logos on one document, when you go to export it will export all logos into one file. If each logo has its own Artboard you can export each one as it's own file.

      I would like to know what the differences are between regular documents and artboards and why you might use one over the other. This video does not explain that in any way. I always use documents because I understand how they work, but I might try artboards if only I had a clue about them.

    So you can’t have different size art boards in the same file? For example business card, 18x24 sign, and 36x96 banner? If not that is a deal breaker for me. I have hundreds of files like that in Illustrator.

    • @MarkusK_
      @MarkusK_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You actually can. Every artboard can have its own size. It also goes along nicely with the export persona, meaning you can export them all to your favourite output format in a single click!

    • @graziacavasino8884

      Imagine you're a designer who makes tutorials using their time and energy to make a good job and someone posts a comment like yours: would you find it respectful/gratifying/proper/kind/socially acceptable? I bet you wouldn't. It's a free world, so, if you're not happy and want more, go find more in-depth tutorials somewhere else and pay for them, so maybe you'll start to learn what you had for free on YT.

    • @GrantSR
      @GrantSR ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@graziacavasino8884 These are produced by the company that makes the product. All of their videos barely touch on the subject at hand. The "help files" are a long list of what you "can do" with almost no detail at all. I am forced to figure out almost everything, other than the very top-surface gist, through hours of trial and error. It is entirely reasonable to expect a product manufacturer to actually explain how to use the product.

    For me, it was not a very good written script: too many secondary and tertiary subtopics, in what I was hoping would be a video on the basic topic of "Artboard", just as the title states. All the subtopics are simply distracting.
