    Thank you for this. Evensong is always beautiful whether it is sung or said.

      Old name for Evening Prayer, whether there's music or not. But nowadays, it tends to be called Evening Prayer if spoken without music, and Evensong when sung. Choral Evensong if most or all of the singing is done by a choir.

    The priestess here leads this lovely service with calmness and reverence. I'd very much like to see her lead a full length communion with a sermon. I see no reason whatsoever why women shouldn't be members of the anglican clergy at all levels. My experience in a number of different churches, including other denominations, is that women clergy are every bit as good as men in all aspects of church life, and as such make an important contribution to glorifying God.

    • @PrenticeBoy1688

      Exactly. Unless, of course, you want to be faithful to the clear and inerrant Word of God. That pesky Bible does tend to get in the way of progress.

      @@louisfriend6924 I agree. Going to a church without sound doctrine is like going to a restaurant that serves terrible food prepared in unsanitary conditions. • @PrenticeBoy1688
      @PrenticeBoy1688 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@coro35 Holy Scripture doesn't permit women to lead the church in a pastoral role. Sacraments are understood to require 'proper matter'. Bread and wine are required for Holy Communion. One man and one woman are required for Holy Matrimony. Likewise, only a man can receive Holy Orders. Following this line of reasoning, not only should women not be admitted to Holy Orders, but they *cannot* be admitted to Holy Orders. Whatever this woman is, she is not a priest in Christ's Church.

    I feel that many people watched this video simply to comment on and decry the fact that a female priest was involved.
    She isn't the best priest; her delivery is rather slow, monotonous, and lacks emotion. However, many of the female priests I have met have been better than many of them that were male!

    • @randalljackson4574
      @randalljackson4574 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I personally really liked her delivery; it was humble, deliberately slow, reverential and had a solemn gravitas.

    • @sameash3153
      @sameash3153 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have felt that way too. My male priests often can't sing, can't chant, have no reverence, give pop culture sermons.
      The best sermon I have ever heard, that moved me to tears, was not from a man.
