I was listening to this episode in the car with my wife who is from Russia. When you started talking about "Babushka dolls" she got interested for the slightest of moments and then laughed that a soccer card podcast would be talking about "Russian nesting dolls" (matroshki, "матрёшки") as they are known. Soccer Cards United is evolving into the go-to podcast for all things cards AND international culture! 😁⚽
😂 that is brilliant! Yeah I believe the work I was looking for was Matryoshka not Babushka but my Russian is obviously a bit rusty 😅
Classic SCU content! Card design and checklist critique, prospect follow up and awkward silence while searching the interwebs. Also addressing who/how does the hobby collect in the post-Messi/CR7 era? Club/nationality seems to be a stronger factor in hobby interest than absolute performance with a few exceptions.
Without that dead air what even is the show?!
Soccer is such a partisan sport. The kind of vindictiveness and spite we have towards players because of their club/country isn’t seen as much in American sports I don’t think, outside of the major rivalries.
Another great pod boys! So interesting to see what will happen in the hobby as Messi and cr7 fade out! WHO WILL EMERGE!!!
Jude and Vini giving Mbappe and Haaland a run for their money right now!
Kendry Páez does feature in the sticker album. And so does Endrick. So there is hope !
Top quality content my guys ❤ & what u said about Topps & Panini case hits, for some reason I love panini’s case hits but I do prefer Topps auto weird that
The hobby is weird and people’s combination of preferences are endless! That’s what keeps us in it I suppose
Thanks guys, exciting news! Going into this year of soccer card collecting, I was worried that the post pandemic crash would lead to a loss of lots of products, but have been pleasantly surprised and excited the last two weeks or so to see all the announcements for the season’s sets
Oh don’t you worry… there’s going to be sets on sets of sets 😅
