Beckett is now using Palantir Foundry software to address this shared customer experience. Beckett has already begun integrating legacy systems into Palantir Foundry, allowing customers to more rapidly and easily access decades of data about cards, comics, and other collectibles, as well as automating the process of grading and authenticating. Beckett aims to eventually have the most comprehensive data set in the collectibles space and the hobby community, across comics, cards, VHS, and other assets
PSA was run by a publicly traded company before the company was sold and went private, Beckett is run like a mom and pop shop with an outdated website and system put together by interns over a summer.
They did you dirty on that. Definitely should have discounted to a slower service rate. I’m still laughing when I told ya how fast BGS graded my French Zard and you were ranted about this Lugia. LMAOOOOOOOOO. But yeah sucks because I like those BGS slabs. Maybe in the distance future ya use them again when they fix their shit.
You’re not alone. Ive also had a similar bad experience with BGS and had the same phone tag email convo with them too. Finally got my card back and there was a piece of brown bag in the case 😐😐
That's insanely bad customer service. I've been waiting for things to return to normal before sending in cards to get graded but definitely afraid of using Beckett now. Who knows maybe these cards I pulled in 2019/2020 will finally get graded when things return to normal this year but I probably won't get the cards back until like 2024 no matter who I use
I’m very scared to use BGS, especially after hearing all of the horror stories. If anything, I’ll just do the walk-in grading service and sit there for 2 hours to make sure they don’t lose my cards somehow😂
This type of stuff happens all the time....with every company. Things get lost in the system. And I found that the 10-15 day time frame, is 10-15 business days, so 2-3 weeks, minimum. If his friends are getting them back in 7 days? I’ll be honest, I don’t buy it. The fastest I have received an order from BGS lately, express or premium, was 12 business days. Not including the ship time out there, from when it arrived at BGS. Usually entered 1-2 days later. I put a paper copy of my order right inside the box, and 1 under the rubber bands around the cards. I’ve found it gets scanned in faster that way. I’m sure there are horror stories like this for every grading company.
Yah I sent in 4 zards (two each of the champions path ones) to bgs in what I believe was last October, for the 20 day turnaround time... idk what's going on but to this day the only thing I've heard is that the grading process has begun (that was in January) and nothing since then. I had the money I needed available at one point but bills came up and now I need to try saving that money again. Really wish I could tell when I'm going to get charged.
For those saying that you should fight the charge, are fighting a battle that they will not win. My PSA express submission has been there since March 3rd, It hasn’t been graded yet. Every company is experiencing this problem. I do agree with Rhyme when it comes to the tracking. They need a better system, or a system in general where it tells you where you are with your submission. Thats bad on their end.
They for sure lost the card and just didn't bother telling you that it was currently lost. I know things are crazy when it comes to submissions but jeez, and the fact that they still charged you the $300 is just super scummy tbh. If it was delayed maybe 2 weeks I would still be fine paying the $300 but 3 months? Nah, charge me less because this is not the service I paid for.
Damn this is an eye opening review. Sorry you had to go through that Rhyme. Been following you for quite some time and love the videos and openings. If I went through the same thing you did I would go crazy from anxiety. Luckily enough I was on the side of great customer service - shipping from Canada I came to the conclusion that If I wanted to get my cards within a month BGS would be better than PSA. They updated me throughout the whole process and I ended up getting the cards on time with a slight delay to due the pandemic. In fairness, I haven't graded since last year just because I don't want my cards in limbo and I don't trust the timelines - like in this case they'll charge you no matter happens and how long it takes.
Just used them and process was incredibly simple. I was notified when they received it and when they shipped it back to me. Took the exact amount of days advertised for turnaround time. Email with the tracking info had the grade and sub grades, ended up getting a black label DA VMAX Charizard. Safe to say I am very happy with the process.
Sent a charizard vmax shiny in and it went "missing en route" to them and I had to start an insurance claim....it is possible someone in the mail room at bgs or the mail person stole it, be careful folks and definitely don't send anything without insurance
My best friend and I talked about our terrible service with Beckett on our Podcast, we submitted six cards that cost over $2k altogether in January for express grading and they haven't sent anything back, not in system and their customer support lines have full mailboxes, no one picks up even after calling every day from March to May. Their Sales manager for my area was on vacation for a while, got back to me asking about details and then never got back to me despite several follow-ups. Never using their service again unless they can find our cards or reimburse us because we did have the insurance on them... But since our order is not in their system we can't claim it? Absolutely frustrating. We lost three Evolutions Charizards, a Shining Gyarados, a Secret Rare Pikachu VMAX, and an Umbreon EX (first printing).
Before the pandemic, I went on like a $45 submission. It came back pretty fast but I recall there being some issue where it couldn’t get dropped off at my apartment, had to pick it up at Walgreen’s FedEx queue. There was a big like broad scrape on the bottom of the case. They said they’d recase it for free on my next sub, but I wasn’t planning on subbing again. So, that was disappointing to have a medium tier and get a banged case for my first experience. I guess my expectation was to treat first time customers really well so they come back, as well as to make sure cases aren’t damaged.
Mailing cards for grading was already a bitch and a half before COVID, but now? Oh my God, forget it. These grading companies need to step their game up. Last thing you want is to lose a card that insurance wont fully cover(after potential grade) after waiting forever for your submission.
This is my biggest problem with Beckett, even though I am a big fan of their slabs and chasing the Black Label. They have to fix their processing for cards for their customers. They don't update you at all when they received them. They only update you when cards are being graded and shipping it off to you. Everyone has some bad experience with every grading service.
I’ve had the worst experience with them.. I sent in 4 cards. All 4 cards got damaged in shipping on the way back to me. One of those cards graded a 10...to make it up they gave me a free submission.. yea I know right . My 1000 dollar card is now ruined and I’m still waiting for that second sub.. I like there slabs but fuck them
I recently received back from Beckett approx. 40 cards of the 700+ cards of a new boxed 1970 Topps Baseball set for grading as a representative sample of the entire set. Couldn't afford to have the entire set graded for sure. Heard nothing during the 5 months of waiting other than when the cards went from one step to another. No signs of trouble. Then after paying close to $800 for the grading, all cards returned as "altered". New set and all were enclosed in single case with the "Authentic Altered" stamp. They didn't stop to think that maybe someone else ought to look at a unopened set and see if there might be a mistake by the grader. Or, maybe we should contact this person and ask if he wants to pay to put all these cards in cases marked incorrectly. No, they graded every single card as altered and took the money. I've contacted them but they see no problem with how they handled this order. Be very hard to go back to Beckett in the future. J.K. Lockridge NC
18 months later and this is STILL EXACTLY THE SAME. Described turnaround times of 10-15 days, they took months. Customer service is slow and RUDE af, will never use them again, never experienced anything like it. Quite literally exact same experience as yourself.... soooo frustrated and has tainted those cards for me now.
It’s great that you pointed out their flaws. Sure mistakes are made but if you want customers to continue using your services, make sure to take care of them when those mistakes occur. It’s that simple.
So as for the population report, I actually emailed them asking about the Secret Rare GBI God Cards, because I wanted to know what BGS's pop report for those 3 were. I could find them on PSA, but when I tried to research it in BGS I could not find any report. So I reached out to them, and they replied basically with, "We do not currently catalog this card that is why it does not show up. We just do not grade enough of them to catalog it." Which I find verrryyyy interesting.
@@Rhymechan The same thing is happening with Ghosts From The Past. You can see all the PSA ones being graded, but search GFTP in BGS, nothing. And considering I saw a Dark Magician Mint 9 on Ebay like last week I think..they're being graded! But it's also weird that I can see my Gem Mint Rainbow Articuno, which only has 3 total graded in BGS. I guess because Celestial Storm has a lot more cards graded from that set in general? Regardless it's really weird...
Been watching you for years and started to get back in to collecting cards and I'm glad you shared this info. Sorry about your experience but I know I won't be using BGS. keep up the amazing content Rhyme
For a leader in the industry that is absolutely unacceptable.. how do they expect anyone to submit super rare items if they don’t even let u know if they received it until they begin the grading process.. because by that point it’s almost too late to start looking for it. In your case specifically Rhyme, if they didn’t give u the customer service u deserved then they probably get this all the time.. As a big name grading service and especially if u pay a lot of money for a faster service level, they should charge according to how long it actually took.. obviously bulk submissions make take as long as it takes but if u pay a huge fee for a 5 day turnaround and it takes a few months then they clearly didn’t provide the service that you paid extra for. Absolutely defeats the purpose... I have cards that could be black labels and was excited try BGS but idk if I can trust them enough to use their service at least until they get their shit together. Man they made little to no attempt to make things right
I have a few cards that probably worth a good chunk of cash and ive been wanting to send them in to get graded. After learning about leonhart and his charizard fiasco he had. I was scared, this video makes me even more worried to send stuff in 😱😱😱
@@Rhymechan might be true but those were very poor choice of words 😂. This guy is probably already stressed and then you say " they lost it probably" definitely doesn't help this guy feel better 😂.
Honestly man, I would take this to such an extreme level, that no one wants to send to BGS, and hopefully they might fix their issue, because NO company should work this way, I'm NEVER going to use BGS I guess, because I was gonna send some zards to them, but I DONT wanna lose them
Yeah this is awful. I sent a standard submission last OCTOBER and radio silence since then. All I know is there's an empty invoice in my orders page. Definitely not using BGS again either.
BGS’s favorite grade is the 8.5. Every card I ever send them gets An 8.5, even cards that came factory sealed from Panini and were never held by a human hand. This is why I will never use them again.
Bgs needs a class action lawsuit for falsely advertising their services. They, do warn you about delays, but they are way off with their estimates that it makes me think they bull s everyone to secure profits.
I'm surprised that between BGS's poor customer service, and PSA's inconsistent grading, that CGC isn't the instant pick for a lot of people. Granted all three companies can have their issues, but I hear less stories like this one from CGC.
I got a submission back from CGC a few days into May that I sent off before the recent price increase, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I got my cards back in a reasonable amount of time (about a month with the Express option), and all five cards came back with fair but strict grades. And I like how their slabs look...if only they would center the text in the white box where they put the grade 😬
Thanks for this video! My mates have all had problems with BGS too, pretty much same thing on terrible services and the insane waits, even having their cards returned with smashed cases... I myself am starting to get into grading and now know NOT to send my stuff to BGS! I think ill go with PSA
I heard of horror stories of PSA where customers received wrong card or it was damaged. At least PSA compensate them for their mistakes, and they’re a bit more transparent on their complete through dates.
I’ve actually had a similar issue with psa where I sent in like 14 cards, one of which goes for like 300 bucks, and nothing. At first I thought “oh it’s just stuck on the site” wait a week and nothing. So I email them, nothing. Finally three months go by and I’m like where the hell is my stuff. I’m really insecure sending stuff I own cause of my family stealing my stuff all the time so I’m in lowkey freak out mode. Finally I call them and we get it sorted out and everything is set right so I’m not too mad and i get it things get rough in the pandemic so I was more than willing to be patient. Within three days after my call I had all my cards back. And good news my 300 dollar card is now worth 4K cause psa10 but my thing was that it was all set right and instead of being charged the amount I was originally going to be for “express” I got charged for the tier below. It was an experience made right and it’s wrong that at the very least bgs didn’t reduce the charge since you didn’t get the service you paid for.
thank you i was debating which company i should use and cannot afford to send it in 300$but have major collection pieces i want to get graded and preserve. PSA is where im going now
One mistake I think you made is asking them are they still going to charge for premium, I would have just told them I'm not paying for premium and if they refuse let them return it.
The rants begin!!! I've been waiting for this! Also, I've also been waiting for when the grading climate normalizes. I am not about to send out my DBS SCRs and modern PKMN hits just to pray I get them in half a decade.
I've been doing CGC and love them. Reasonable prices, turnaround time. Entered in system when they open your package, they update steps. And I've been warming up to their slabs. They also grade pretty strict so the encapsulated cards are high quality.
Unacceptable customer service. We can understand that things happen and get lost and what not but the fact that they didn't try to remedy the situation makes even me mad. It costs them probably no more than $2-$3 to even a grade a card and they didn't lower your grading price when it was their fault is disgusting. They know they can get away with this level of customer service because PSA is shut down and other grading companies are just as backed up. Someone needs to give them a swift kick in the ass, won't be using Beckett ever in my life after this story.
This is a real shame. I had plans to send a boatload of cards to them for grading since they still have the Economy Option that PSA now reserves for their Silver and up members. However, if this is how they treat a premium package customer, there's no way I'll be sending my cards to them. Might just have to bite the bullet and buy the PSA Membership so I can send cards in for cheaper than $100 apiece.
I am waiting on them to find my first order I sent them, they sent an email saying they received it but now 2 months later, nothing and my order says they are still waiting to receive it. I will not do business with them again, I have sent 4 emails and I have not heard from them at all. I’m not done but I see this is going to be a long process. Goodbye BGS.
Damn, I was always hesitant to use BGS because of some of these flaws in the system you mention and some BGS horror stories where they damage cards. This just reaffirms why I will stick to using PSA.
Recently sent some cards in through a friend to try out BGS, was through one of their specials a few months ago. Prior to this I'd only submitted to PSA and each experience with them was positive, and I was expecting similar from BGS. Fast forward to today - STILL haven't heard back from BGS regarding the sub, NO status updates whatsoever, no tracker to see what stage of the grading our sub was in, it's already well past the latest estimated delivery date, and it's actually super disappointing. I've been a fan of BGS slabs for a while. I love their labels, and the idea of getting a card back in a Black Label is super tantalizing, but man after this first sub I'm not confident I'd go back and try to submit with them again. Best looking slabs on the market by far and I refuse to take any arguments for the contrary, but so far it seems they offer shit service. Sad.
Beckett is a viable option, I have and will use them for the sturdy protective cases, subgrading and general acceptance to grading authenticity. One biggest knock on them is the customer service. They will play the pass it on game and never really step up... we will get back to you o thanks for your question and patience we will get back to you broken record response...No they will not. Wish they would hire a collector that has been through the process and understands our side of it.

Good to know, I almost sent cards into them! I'm a new collector & they were the one I had heard the most about, thank you SO much for the warning!
Every grading company has this stuff that happens. U will get more stories from psa than anyone because they are the biggest. So... yea
Bgs Will show you all process on the Beckett app. Also populations can be found inside the app.
They deserve it for charging premium but doing regular service
and no excuse. Never used bgs and will never use it.
Facts
Leonhart says hi. He loves BGS. And gets cards back in no time. Though I believe he lives nearby to their facility.
It’s easier to buy the grade and card you want these days lol
facts
I’d raise so much hell and create such a PR nightmare for them that they’d have no choice but to address the issue and remedy it in some way.
Thanks. I might wait till next year before I submit any card.
Exactly. If they would've charged me $150, I would've been like whatever about it.
Yep BGS always messing people orders up. Happened to casualyugistuff they messed up his order
Yeah like I said, I probably just had a terrible experience and everyone experiences smooth grading like you did!
My cards worth 450 all together got jacked by Beckett or usps
I feel bad for the people who actually lost rare cards in this process. When a company is sketchy and unprofessional like that, don’t deal with them.
Yes they do, they update it through the app.
That lugia card is so sick
I paid $20 at a local comic book store for a sealed pack and pulled the ghost Lugia out of it
I’ve had the worst experience with them.. I sent in 4 cards. All 4 cards got damaged in shipping on the way back to me. One of those cards graded a 10...to make it up they gave me a free submission.. yea I know right . My 1000 dollar card is now ruined and I’m still waiting for that second sub.. I like there slabs but fuck them
OH GOD THATS MY NIGHTMARE

"I'd like to take the time to thank this videos sponsor: PSA Grading"
18 months later and this is STILL EXACTLY THE SAME. Described turnaround times of 10-15 days, they took months. Customer service is slow and RUDE af, will never use them again, never experienced anything like it. Quite literally exact same experience as yourself.... soooo frustrated and has tainted those cards for me now.
It’s great that you pointed out their flaws. Sure mistakes are made but if you want customers to continue using your services, make sure to take care of them when those mistakes occur. It’s that simple.
the c ard looks nice with a silver label at least
So as for the population report, I actually emailed them asking about the Secret Rare GBI God Cards, because I wanted to know what BGS's pop report for those 3 were. I could find them on PSA, but when I tried to research it in BGS I could not find any report. So I reached out to them, and they replied basically with, "We do not currently catalog this card that is why it does not show up. We just do not grade enough of them to catalog it." Which I find verrryyyy interesting.
WHAT KIND OF ANSWER EVEN IS THIS!?
I know random but just realized he has a liger zero in the background on top of the glass case
indeed!
Man they made little to no attempt to make things right
Nah forget that, they better pay YOU for that service since it took 2+ months.
I have a few cards that probably worth a good chunk of cash and ive been wanting to send them in to get graded. After learning about leonhart and his charizard fiasco he had. I was scared, this video makes me even more worried to send stuff in 😱😱😱
well his situation was USPS losing his card.
This entitled corporate behavior is really troubling to not support that entitled business malpractice
I submitted 4 Charizards for the 5 day walk through price 2 MONTHS AGO... still haven’t even started grading. I feel your pain bro.
probably lost it somewhere in their warehouse
@@Rhymechan might be true but those were very poor choice of words 😂. This guy is probably already stressed and then you say " they lost it probably" definitely doesn't help this guy feel better 😂.
You should be able to walk into a card store and pay $5 to have the card put inside of a plastic case with a number on it graded
Honestly man, I would take this to such an extreme level, that no one wants to send to BGS, and hopefully they might fix their issue, because NO company should work this way, I'm NEVER going to use BGS I guess, because I was gonna send some zards to them, but I DONT wanna lose them
you are way more calm than i would be
Yeah this is awful.
They, do warn you about delays, but they are way off with their estimates that it makes me think they bull s everyone to secure profits.
they're covered cuz all their submissions say someting like 10-15+ days
I would fight that charge
It's not worth it. $300 dollars is nothing to him, he was just bummed he was still charged.
Cool. Won’t be using BGS now. Thanks for the heads up.
I only trust PSA sorry that happened to you man especially to that card... holy grail sleeper card
Oh man I'm so sorry what happened Rhyme. That sucks badly! Sorry to hear that.
I heard of horror stories of PSA where customers received wrong card or it was damaged. At least PSA compensate them for their mistakes, and they’re a bit more transparent on their complete through dates.
I saw a PSA card on Tiktok this past week that was crushed in half
@@Rhymechan Oof that’s rough
I don't blame you one bit, man. I would never do business with them again either if this happened to me. 🤨
thank you i was debating which company i should use and cannot afford to send it in 300$but have major collection pieces i want to get graded and preserve. PSA is where im going now
How are they now 3 years later??
I would’ve told them send the card back and give me a full refund
One mistake I think you made is asking them are they still going to charge for premium, I would have just told them I'm not paying for premium and if they refuse let them return it.
Sad truth is that at this point the card craze is so bad, no matter how bad they are BGS is still slammed.
The rants begin!!! I've been waiting for this!
Also, I've also been waiting for when the grading climate normalizes. I am not about to send out my DBS SCRs and modern PKMN hits just to pray I get them in half a decade.
Nice Conker's Bad Fur Day in the Background. ♥
The only reason I would chose BGS over PSA is the Pristine 10 and the back label 10 that you cannot get with PSA
Been waiting 9 months so far on a 20 day turn around, when I sent them in back in October it said 6 month waiting time.
Same here!
Yeah I was going to try BGS but I decided to just go with CGC. Much better choice. I think they will over take BGS as well
Thanks for the heads up! Definitely won’t be using BGS. I won’t be able to handle that type of stress
I had a bad experience at chick-fil-a and people dont believe me I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN
And btw same here.. no apology or anything.
I would be pissed too, 315$ and didn’t even get the service you paid for. Sheesh. You have every right to tell us your experience. I definitely wouldn’t use their services again
Least I got a really good grade! :D
still never using them again
I can't believe you had to pay 300 for that. BGS did you dirty.
Agreed I will never use BGS again. My experience was bad also. Bad customer service, charged me upfront and Bebe theses from them unless I emailed them
That is terrible customer service. They owe you a discount refund. Take it to corporate!
Prefer PSA and then BGS but after seeing this I may reconsider this.
Every Legitimate company is usually required to have a business bond. If you paid for a service and did not receive it I would send them a polite message letting them know that you're going to Sue their bond company. They're bound and company usually is public information. If it's worth it to you, idk but that's how you get your money back.
