Sure he could be the saviour of the world from his own, MADE UP villains. But if he becomes an avenger and the new ironman, what about real threats? What plan did he have to fight them, and if he was going to fight them anyway IDK I think there might have been some space for IDK negotiation for Fury Nick.

    Honestly I hated Far From Home and Homecoming when they first came out. Though I warmed up to them a bit I still felt like they weren’t true Spider-Man movies. They’re just movies who happen to have Spider-Man if that makes sense, as they don’t encompass the feeling or spirit of Spider-Man. No Way Home however I feel like encapsulates the spirit of Spider-Man perfectly, and slightly redeems the previous movies. It makes the previous movies feel like it gave Peter valuable lessons before he truly becomes the Spider-Man we know and love, Homecoming giving a sense of consequence and responsibility, and Far From Home giving a sense of power and who to trust with it. Overall the entire trilogy feels like an origin story, which though I partly don’t like as I feel like the movies should be able to stand up on their own, I still approve because it makes those movies better without removing what might’ve made it special to newer younger audiences.

    The fundamental fact is Homecoming and FFH are fun MCU flicks, no doubt, but they fundamentally miss the mark on who spiderman is. Everything came really easily to Peter in the Home series. It's not just about the tech and iron man jr stuff. This Peter Parker has a financially stable house hold and a lot of friends. Whenever him being spiderman comes in the way of him living his life the people around him sort just let him be without any consequences and on top of that by the end of far from home everyone who actually matters in peters life knows he is spiderman. The whole thing is they got the relationship between Peter Parker and Spiderman wrong. Peter Parker hates being spiderman(atleast when he started off and well into adult life before he fully accepted his role) and if there was anyone else who could do the job he would let them. What drives Peter to Spiderman with such disregard for his personal life isn't a sense of heroism but a sense of responsibility, the responsibility he feels for the death of his Uncle Ben. The core of Peter is him trying to live a normal life taking care of his family and finding love and a family while juggling this responsibility he feels for what he considers the biggest mistake in his life, a mistake he isn't willing to repeat. MCU Peter is heroic to a fault...almost to a Captain America level of heroism...but that isn't who Peter Parker is, atleast not in the beginning. He is just a cocky superpowered kid who made a mistake and because of it, started walking a path which lead him to grow into one the greatest heros of his time. Even the responsibility lesson in NWH is about how Peter was doing the right thing and he has to continue doing the right thing despite all the sacrifices. Now this is a core theme of spiderman which is why I fundamentally believe that NWH is the only real spiderman movie in the home series. But my main issue with Tom's Spiderman is he is a born hero where as Peter Parker was no hero but his story show that we can be better that what we suffer from.
    This has been my TED talk.

    • @godofthecripples1237
      @godofthecripples1237 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, they understand who Spider-Man is excellently. Homecoming is all about Peter Parker learning to take responsibility, choosing to do what's right over what's best for him. And it all works even better with No Way Home being out, and the way that everything sort of feels like an extended origin story now. What we were watching wasn't a Spider-Man written by people who didn't understand Spider-Man, it was a Spider-Man that was just still in the process of learning what it means to be Spider-Man. If things felt off, it's because they were supposed to be. He was still working up to becoming the Spider-Man we all know and love.

      @@shridharbiju7370 Ehh, fair enough I guess, I skimmed it. I read pretty much everything at the very beginning and in the second half, just not the stuff about how Peter Parker's personal life isn't really damaged by him being Spider-Man. I guess on that part you have a point, but what I said still entirely applies. That's not the part I was arguing against. And I still wouldn't entirely agree that it doesn't get in the way of his personal life. I mean, the entire ending part of Homecoming was him choosing to be Spider-Man even though it costed him the affection of Liz. Just because one particular aspect of Spider-Man and Peter Parker wasn't heavily explored doesn't make it fair to say that the movies don't understand Spider-Man. They understand Spider-Man, but he's a complex character, there's other aspects of him they can focus on.

    • @shridharbiju7370
      @shridharbiju7370 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@godofthecripples1237 In my opinion, there is 4 core aspects of Peter Parker that they got wrong.
      1. Peter always does the right thing(this they got right) and as a result always suffers for it( this they got wrong). Peter Parker's crusade as spiderman always pulls him away from his family. He isn't able to take care of aunt may, he isn't able to properly make friends and even with the friends he has he has to isolate himself from them. The first movie ruins this by almost immediately revealing his identity to Ned and then to Aunt May at the end because now Peter has a confidant for his vigilantism. A man in the chair if you will. They kinda introduced this issue in FFH with him being unable confess to MJ but instead of exploring it fully they just made MJ reveal Peter's Identity. So basically he has the role of spiderman but none of the consequences of it in his personal life.
      2. Why Peter chose to be the Spiderman? Peter Parker originally donned the webbed costume not to be a hero but to make a quick buck. In fact he didn't give two craps about anybody except himself and his aunt and uncle. That led him to not stop a thief who eventually ended up shooting Uncle Ben. This made Peter place the responsibility of his uncles death on himself and that is what drives him to be Spiderman. The personal guilt he feels towards his uncles death. In fact when Peter quit being spiderman what brought him back was seeing a man who looked liked his uncle being mugged. But MCU Peter is driven by a sort of righteous heroism (as shown in his introduction in Civil War) which is really not part of Spiderman's brand. Peter wants to be a hero and likes being spiderman. In fact he would willingly ditch everything in his life (not out of responsibility but because he wants to) to become spiderman.
      3. The common man's hero. Spiderman has always been the everyday man's hero. The reason he has never been an active participant in the Avengers or the F4 when he joined them(other than the fact that he is literally a pain in the ass to work with) is that they don't operate at the same speed. Spidey is always about the ground-level superheroism rather than the major world altering events and even in those world altering events he is always taking care of the little rather than fighting in the forefront. Now my problem with MCU is they try to establish this then immediately retract to by throwing him in the middle(quite willingly) into some major conflict. This is also diminished by giving him access to the arsenal of Tony Stark, a billionaire and making Peter's household financially stable.
      4. I always feel like it was criminal that they delegated Aunt May into the position of Hot Mom in the first 2 movies when she is literally the emotional center of Peter's life, the most important person in his life and the only remaining family he has left and him being the same for Aunt May. Only building up that relationship in the thrid movie was probably the biggest mistake the movie did and it really made the emotional climax of the film less impactful.
      Now the only film that addresses these(atleast most of them) core facets of Peter Parkers life in the home series is No Way Home and that why only consider NWH to be a proper spiderman film rather than just another MCU flick and even then it doesn't address these aspects of Peter as well as some of the other spiderman film especially spiderman 2 which addresses all these points very well(making it a almost perfect spiderman film) which I will give credit to Raimi for despite the fact that Andrew is my favourite spiderman. I am not saying that the Home Series isn't entertaining, just that they don't really seem like spiderman films.

    • @godofthecripples1237
      @godofthecripples1237 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shridharbiju7370 I have to disagree with you on a lot of this. I agree with the aspects you listed of Spider-Man, but these movies absolutely explore these.
      First off, like I said, we do see examples of his life being hindered by his decision to be Spider-Man. There's the obvious case of Liz, but that's also basically the plot of the entire second movie. He wants to enjoy his normal life as Peter Parker but can't because there's these grand expectations placed on him as a superhero when he just wants to be a kid.
      Second, I can't say that any of what you said about his selfishness or heroism is really applicable to the first two movies because we don't see his origin story, we don't know why he acts the way he does. That was intentionally skipped over because we had just seen it from two other versions of Spider-Man. Things do come full circle in the third film, but Peter Parker is very much an immature kid in the first two films. Yes, he does often want to do the right thing, but only as most people do. Homecoming showed him frequently going against a what was asked of him by Stark, doing things like hacking the suit to bypass protocols and blaming Tony for his actions because though he did want to do the right thing he was largely still an immature and selfish kid who wanted to be respected on the same level of the other Avengers. This is shown when he tells Ned that he's basically an Avenger as well, quite a while before he ever was.
      Your third point is the only one I can kind of agree with you on. Homecoming did a good job because it ended with Peter deciding to be a smaller-scale superhero, but as much as I enjoyed him in Infinity War, his presence in that film kind of cheapened that revelation by immediately shoving him into a massive cosmic scale battle just right after we had seen him say that he wanted to be a friendly neighborhood hero rather than some world-saving warrior.

      Also the moral wasn't not to trust anyone, if that was the case he wouldn't have told mj, the moral was to strive for independence from stark which is the whole point of Happy's monologue.
      And even If you do think that morals weak, let's look at old Spiderman movies morals
      Spiderman 1: with great power comes great responsibility
      Spiderman 2: Balance
      Spiderman 3: Don't be bad?
      Amazing Spiderman 1: with great power comes great responsibility

      @miraodkopu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Dylan-bc2po I'm not even trying to insult you or your opinion, I'm simply stating my feelings about this and what I think about these movies.
      And no I didn't mean FFH suit being better, I meant the iron spider suit. Like the first movie ended with him not accepting the better suit which made me appreciate it a little more. But then due to circumstances he gets it and then continues to use it in other movies. So what was even the point of not accepting the suit in the first place? But cool ok, I get they were fighting purple guy so whatever.
      Yeah I know it wasn't but that's how it felt sometimes. So if the moral was to strive for independence why did he continue to use the iron spider suit or just even the normal one. Why did he go to funny wizard for help instead of dealing with the consequences? If independence was the point I don't feel it worked out very well. I get why he went to Strange, I get his character, his actions and motivations. I just don't like it that's all.
      If you take it that way, sureee their morals aren't anything groundbreaking either. But they work, they make a story that pushes the characters forward and makes them feel the consequences of their actions. I wouldn't mention Spiderman 3 that was just a weird mess. But like all these movies accomplished (besides Spiderman 3) to deliver a story full of struggle that were still enjoyable even if you took out the Spiderman part. Meanwhile MCU Spiderman feels like a comedic character that just looks like he's developing but feels and acts the same.
      Take Andrew's Spidey for comparison: He starts off as an irresponsible teen who's lost and alone. He gains powers just to learn it comes with a price. He's angry at the world, he's taking it out on others, on muggers, on his bullies, on his aunt. He wasn't Spidey until he saved the father with his kid instead of beating down the bad guy. He realized it's not about hurting others but rather helping them. I could continue but I'll stop here. What I'm trying to say is there is a clear development of the character, a clear story where one even leads to another and changes his life drastically. I just don't feel that in the MCU. Plus the chemistry between Andrew and Emma are incredible, not just them but the emotions in these movies are far greater and real than anything from the whole MCU. It's down to earth and it's human, it doesn't feel like I'm watching it to see Spidey beat up the bad guys, it feels like I'm watching a story of a kid that is trying really hard to do right and find his place in his world.
      Even tho these movies flopped, they still carried more emotional impact than any of the MCU Spidey's flicks. They could have been great if not for some bad decisions and it's a pity they turned out the way they did, but I still enjoyed them way more than this interpretation.
      I like this Spidey only at the end of NWH, he finally feels like a Spiderman, not a 12yo in a costume of Spiderman.

      Have you even read the first 100 Spiderman issues written by Stan Lee? If so do you remember how these movies are actually more accurate to the character of Spiderman than the Rami trilogy, for example do you remember how Peter Parker idolised hero's such as the fantastic 4? Which Is similar to the relationship to the he has to iron man in the mcu. Oh wait you didn't know that did you? So shut the hell up and learn your facts before you start talking.

    • @arlwithac9285
      @arlwithac9285 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dylan_da_snake124 First off, no need to be rude. Secondly, Peter did like superheroes but he wasn’t essentially a sidekick to them. He worked alone and preferred doing things alone. Hell, he even got mad at the Fantastic Four when they weren’t paying for their services. Peter’s life sucked and he had to do and deal with everything on his own with almost no support from anybody. You don’t get that in the MCU until the final scenes. Peter was doing things alone with stuff created by him. No help from Iron Man (don’t hate Iron Man he’s legitimately my favorite character ever), Happy, no one. It was just one kid against the world.
