  • On this session of Counsel Culture, Nick sits down with Dr. Umar Johnson for a thought-provoking conversation about love, identity, spirituality, and the Black community. Together, they explore the complexities of relationships, with Dr. Johnson sharing his views on polygamy and the political motivations behind his desire for two wives. The discussion delves into the roles Black men should play in the lives of Black women, the need to reinvent appreciation for Black women, and advice for men striving to improve their relationships.

The “realest” said, “ I didn’t want to make a lifelong decision just because they were pregnant.” When is having children with someone not a lifelong decision?
“We need to learn more about each other before we get together.” But didn’t need to know about them before you made them the mother of your children?
It’s not even that he made this mistake. It’s the fact that at this point in his life, he still doesn’t realize it was a mistake.

Dr umar love you but I’m CALLING you out! Pregnancy is *enough* to be married. You talk about community… you should have prioritized the kids over your own selfish desires (I heard you blaming the mothers for not being patient). I am a priestess in Santeria and my life destiny strictly forbids me from being in any kind of “love triangle.” Any relationship I decide to be in MUST be monogamous, and I was actually open to polygamy.

See!!!!! I’m in a similar practice and these men think they can just go around and do this. Especially unknowingly to other women involved. My friend was told no love triangle bc they would off one another. Let these BM think what they want and believe what they want. The outcome may never work how they feel. I know a man told the same thing he can’t cheat bc of his wife spirit will well. I’ll leave it alone.

@ Yes, in my religion, when u initiate u have your life destiny revealed to u through ritual. It was specifically stated that I can never be in a non-monogamous relationship arrangement of any kind. I can’t be in “groups of 3” or anything of the sort. There’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to relationships. So ignore ppl that try to argue that polygamy “is the way it should be” etc. Everyone’s destiny is different.

Not saying it's ok but how many people actually plan their children? A lot of people have children that were not a sit down discussion, it just happened. Again not saying it's right but it happens and happens often. Myself included. So I can understand the having a kid but not being married to that person. In a perfect world I would have loved that but my child's father would never have been husband material for me. I am financially capable of taking care of my child on my own with or without help from the father so as long as he is physically present in a positive way then it works. But marriage would've never been on the table he is absolutely insane 😭🤣

Children aren't lifelong to a deadbeat father like Umar. His baby mothers raise his daughters while he gives you advice on relationships and parenting. When do you ever hear him making off-hand comments like I'm getting gifts for my children. I attended my child's birthday party recently. My children and I went on a trip together.

    ideology is some
    bull!😂😂
This also goes against his claims of valuing and respecting our "black queens".
How about you hire a male assistant? why does a woman have to accept sharing you emotionally and physically because you can't find or don't want to invent other ideas to Keep you committed to 1 Queen 7:20 1
2 wives sounds very convenient, SMH...
