Nice carving. I made two spoons once with my pocket knife when my wife and I camped out and had to made two spoons to eat our beans with. I cooked our steak on a flat rock place on the coals in a camp fire. Had to be the best meal ever.
I carve 12 to 14" cowboy caricatures from basswood and have been for many years but I think I will try some cotton wood bark. After all these years you would think I would have tried it by now. Jim I sincerely thank you for this video. Gene C

Great video, you make it look easy. I have a walking stick that curves into a plane that is similar to the starting piece of this. Even though it's into a knot, I'm hoping to follow this video to make my eagle head!

mtn1945, I do have sharp tools but cottonwood bark is real easy to carve. This is the only wood I carve in now. Basswood would probably be better for a walking stick top.
