And she was 16 when all of this was happening… starting the group, with an unknown (and terrible) company, and her dad wouldn’t provide support. She’s a trooper and an ace.
Younger if it was 2016 and it was October (her birth month). Definitely 15 at most. So like barely in high school. Since 17 Korean age (year you turn 16) is the year high school starts, she was only a first year back then.
For even more context, Heejin’s older sisters also went down the path of trying to become idols and weren’t successful in their journey. Heejin used to literally travel HOURS when she was younger to training studios just to practice. She also used to audition a lot and was rejected a whole bunch before BBC took her in on a start up project. She was putting herself thru the ringer and going against the grain forging her own path with not a lot of support before she was even 16. This woman is one of the hardest workers in the business and I have such a deep level of respect for her that’s hard to put into words. Seeing where she started to now makes me feel so proud even though we’re the same age 😂.
@LiveConcertJunkie She is not really going against the grain as you said her two older sisters were also trying to be idols. She was just going against her fathers advice. And I would say that he wasn't wrong in opposing her career choice. She seems to have suffered a lot in the entertainment field.
@@sss-pw3rt but she tried and she made her own path and didn't end up wondering "what if". she was brave, is brave, and strong. and even if she didn't end up rich and famous (like, how many idols can say that for themselves, really?) she followed her dream, and became an artist, and nourished her talents. she has experience, in the business and as a person, and she persevered. what's so wrong about that? i don't think that deserves pity or making fun of, i think that's amazing AF.
I can understand him. Its painful for parents to let their child go on a risky path (especially its Blockberry Creative, son of Scandalous Company "Polaris"). Even though Heejin is now the ace, successful and has millions of loving fans.. Still, I respect her dad for caring about her...
Yes it comes from a place of loving them and worrying about them having enough money to have a good life. But now she proved she can make it, so he's so happy and proud
It's still wrong to not support your kids on what they want to do with their own lives, if it's a difficult path, the more support and love they will need to go through it, but I'm glad he said sorry and she knows she made her dad proud ❤
@@finnrogue9435nope, the dad was trying to protect her. Becoming an idol is not gonna work most of the time, it’s a really demanding and stressful job and most don’t even make it. Only the lucky few do.
It's understandable that a parent would not want their daughter to go into the idol business. It's super risky. For every success like Heejin, there are a dozen girls that don't make it. And it's tough even when you do make success. But heejin knew what she wanted, and it sounds like her father accepted it once heejin made it work.
I think parents need to stop constantly thinking they know what's best for their kids. Even when your kid fails, it's often better that way. Who says failure is necessarily bad? It can be one of the best experiences in life. It can lead to great happiness down the line. Be honest with your kid about the risks of their dreams, but don't break their dreams. Let them pursue their dreams even if you see them fail.
@ETBrooD The idea that it's always good to try to follow your dreams and that you will keep learning from your failures until you reach happiness is nice, but it's also an empty platitude. Some people have the wrong dreams, and they fail their whole life because no one gave them a reality check. Sometimes, parents do know better. Sometimes, listening to wisdom and playing it safe is the right path.
@@qersy127 I had the wrong dreams, too. But they've led me to the right ones. I would've never found the right path if I hadn't first gone down the wrong path. Trust me when I say this, it's more important to keep the emotional bond to your child alive than to force them into a certain future. They'll always thank you for the former, but not necessarily for the latter.
@@ETBrooD Being a good parent isn't about thanks. It's helping the child flourish. The important key is getting your child to respect your judgment without force. That way, they won't ignore you when you tell them something they won't be happy to hear.
@@ETBrooD I understand what you're getting at, but I 100% assure you that a parent would prefer that their sons resent them but get a stable job and can have a future rather than have their love and be poor and not have a cent. They will always want their best for the kids, that they can have a decent life. Idol busines it's risky, and like the other user said, sometimes they need a reality check, there are a lot of people trying so hard to become idols but they seriously lack the skills... just try something else.
I’m literally tearing up 😪💘seeing her pretty face in tears rips me apart. She’s been through some shit and you can hear it & feel it when she talks 😭💘 I hope ARTMS goes far and gets recognition for being as talented as they are. My only concern (other than the brutal industry itself) is the occult vibes ARTMS has going on in their MV’s. wtf is that??? What are these girls getting into??? I couldn’t even watch birth. Creepy. Anyways I hope she’ll be okay and continue to succeed 💘💘💘
The amount of effort Heejin has put onto her dream of being an idol is astonishing. From having to travel hours just to go to practice, to being patient zero and delving into an unknown project and taken to Paris out of nowhere without even knowing who was taking her or if the project was going to be successful, to basically having to carry LOONAs popularity on her back with CFs before Chuu became the juggernaut she's today, to put so much effort into training her vocal and dancing abilities the latter making her one of the best dancers in the industry, to fight a lawsuit and having to redebut. She did it all. She's one of the strongest idols in the kpop Industry as of now. I always got so mad when Orbits would shit on her for having so much screentime and lines, constantly going as far as to questioning her talent, her popularity, and her place in Loona just because of how BBC would treat other members. Being a Heejin stan in 2018-2020 was horrible tbh. She never deserved the way the fandom treated her and no other LOONA member received as much scrutiny from Orbits than her. I hope in ARTMS her talent gets more celebrated
If heejin had debuted in a proper company she would’ve been one of the 4th gen it girls for sure so sad so much of her potential was wasted away in BBC
even if the views and streams and sells don't match she's still 4th gen it girl, believe it or not. she's been part of one of the most influential ggs, without loona kpop wouldn't have been the same, so she's still very remarkable in scene nowadays
She was one of the main members that shined in LOONA, she had her own solo debut with her incredible voice and talent, she always made LOONA’s concepts fit together and she is the one that shines most in ARTMS. She is so incredible and has a unique beauty as well
Heejin is gifted, in the truest sense of the word. She’s extremely smart and talented. It’s easy to understand why her father had doubts about her choosing the path she did. She has all the potential to choose any path she wants.
it's really moving when a parent says they are proud of you bc it means all the hard parts in our paths were worth it. heejin, orbit and ouriis are super proud of you!!!! we will always be with you and support you!!💗🐰
I just imagined if A very talented and gorgeous girl like her had debuted in big companies such sm or yg she would be a huge hit, this talent and theses visuals would blow up the whole industry but she wasn’t lucky enough with the company neither her dad in such young age , she deserves better, but now she’s didn’t give up and debuted again hope she always be happy and stronger and successful ❤
I've loved Heejin from the beginning and seeing her always move forward earnestly inspires me. Heejin, this is a step forward, having the convos you couldn't have before
To hear those words from her dad no doubt began some healing to her battered heart. The words every child wants to hear from dad. "I'm so proud of you."🎉❤
It must be hard for you right?...Good work for enduring and finally achieved your dreams. Keep working hard and i believe everything is gonna be okay. I believe in you Heejin. Fighting!!!
It's understandable tho, idol industry is too harsh. If anything her dad just trying to protect her. It's the parents who let their underage kids (like 13-15 y.o) to debut that's questionable actually
I'm so grateful for now she regrup again with half member, and new name of his group, Hopefully she Get more popularity and keep fight ARTMS don't forget listen virtual angel guys❤ don't cry again my anime lover girl❤

any sane parent would oppose it. 99.9999% of kids who go into it fail or come out of it with massive debt and those that succeed live the rest of their lives under a microcope. What parent in their right mind would not be worried
