The power of this song is not to be underestimated. It's heavenly, it can take you right up there and sit you over the clouds very close to the source of everything, I like to call it sun.
Milk and Kisses , was one of their best albums I think. Its been awhile since I've listened to the entirety of it. Though it still brings me back to the first time i heard it when I bought it, so many years ago. I've always loved The Cocteau Twins and they always bring me back to that same feeling of harmony.
Their music transcends all time and space bringing a deeper reality into being revealing ultimate beauty, bliss and the harmony which is inevitable as a result of listening to the Cocteau Twins
This song is like pure sunshine for the soul. Definitely one of CTs "happiest" tracks, along with Ivo and Carolyn's Fingers. What a joy :-) Love those ooooh lalalalala harmonies!
"Robin Guthrie's guitar just exudes beauty, not to mention Liz's vocalizations." - absolutely! this song, especially in headphones and in the context of the album after "Half-Gifts" - ooooh lalalala soooo perfect!
thanks again mr shum for another brilliant video to a beautiful song, truly lifts my spirit, you are a god of art and soul. This video! your colors and playing with speeding and slowing time make this one really awesome, and Liz's voice continues to help me to love life, thank you Liz!!! now, some griffith park sunshine to replay this in my head. Have a great day my friend! namaste
2:54 This song makes me want to cry so much because it reminds me of all of those joyful moments with my family. I had the few and all I needed. I was just happy and satisfied. But now, anytime I think about those little moments, I just want to cry so much.
Shum, once again I find a lovely, inspired new work of yours at the right moment, to end the day in a better state than I found it. I just hope no calves were harmed in the filming of this vid! Meanwhile, someone stole mein spectacles! Please return, no questions asked!
NOT A BAD CLOSING ACT FOR ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE, BEAUTIFUL, ANGELIC ETHEREAL BANDS TO EVER RECORD.. I PRAY THEY GET BACK TOGETHER AT LEAST TO TOUR; THEY WERE GREAT IN CONCERT WHEN I SAW THEM IN I BELIEVE WAS 1987 IN NYC
Whilst Elizabeth's and Robin's artistry is rightly acknowledged I think Simon's and Will's deserve to also be lauded. Simon brought a new dimension with his bass and keyboard playing whilst Will's darker style suited their earlier tracks IMHO.
So right. The live BBC version of this, and really everything, IMHO, very clearly depict how important, specifically Simon's work was to the whole sound and energy of everything they did. And this song's bassline in particular is truly magnificent. Well said and done, Sir.
Shannmeister Completely agree, but don't forget the transitional phase. Sunburst and Snowblind/Head over Heels was all Guthrie & has some of the best CT basslines (imo) period.
Heard the name of the band years ago but never listened to them. Retired now & listen to music all the time. I love her voice but it's like a different language! I'm not alone. From Wikipedia..."The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often eschew any recognisable language.[1] They pioneered the 1980s alternative subgenre of dream pop.[2][3]"
So good that you have pink/violet in this video, because this song is so violet/pink. It feels like Liz is singing this for us from a violet cloud made of marshmallows. Every CT song gives me a certain feeling.. this gives me Oo00hlalala-lala
Hermosa canción, muy angelical recuerdo que escuche mucho Cocteau Twins durante todo mi embarazo de mi hija, hoy mi pequeña ya tiene casi 8 años y con esta canción en especial se me vinieron muchos recuerdos!!! 💞🌻🌾✨✨✨✨
Had anybody felt this is the kind of things that makes You quit to pull the trigger and let You know it is worthy to keep on going with your life??? Because there is still a hope and there is a reason to be here? When I listen to this song... I feel like if God himself touches my shoulder telling me: Ey... You are going to be fine...
Being the Cocteau's, this of course is completely gorgeous - but fans, check out the "Live at the BBC" version. It is both sublimely beautiful, but also rocks out in memorable style. How I miss this band!
@777pusher...BBC disc seems specially copyright restricted. You can find the whole disc as 1 track on youtube music. I just discovered it for the closer violane. Warning no track listing!❤
Hi shum65! Have you ever noticed that most of your videos have 0 dislikes? An amazing thing in comparison to other users sites...need I say more? We love you!!
I am not going to take out merits for that.. but uploading videos and songs from Cocteau twins that is a given :) I do appreciate the quality of the upload .. it looks and hears great... doing right to the most unique music ever made. I dont know if the best... but the most unique (to me) yes!
Liz's voice is nothing short of a wonder!.... The group all fit like a warm pair of gloves on a cold night! They were getting close to being well known, improving and changing with every album they made. .I guess, in hindsight, they are, as they garner more fans having dis-banded. What could have been.....
@MisAnnThorpe Hi MisAnnThorpe! Thanks so much for your comment! I really appreciate your suggestionsI because I like to listen and discover new groups, and these people I didn't know them, well, except Björk. Best regards and have a nice day!!! ;D
Un homme qui soit réellement et profondément touché par l'intensité de cette musique, Est-ce possible? Certainement ...rarement...mais ou es-tu? Pour maintes raisons ....espoir ! Cocteau twins Ouf!
@nemmjenba I know what you mean but there is a lot of other stuff that has a similar effect; "De profundis" by Arvo Part "Boy child" by Scott Walker, "Waterfront" by David Sylvian and Bjork's "Generous palmstroke" to name but a few. Although, come to think of it you might be right. Despite the beauty of the aforesaid tracks, you might still end up pulling that trigger! So yeah, it probably is only Cocteau Twins and Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden" & "Laughing stock" LP's that can do this!
@shum65 Hi Shum65! Thanks so much for your comment. I'm doing right so far... it's just that ...there are times in you're life when you just feel all fucked up... and it seems that everything sucks... until you find these kind of things... among others of course, that push you to go on and stop thinking bullshit. Greetings and thanks for the video!!! :D

such a brilliant song, it's milk and kisses at one of its finest moments

The same with Ella Megalast Burls Forever. I keep hearing “be joyful now and let those feelings drop”
Elizabeth’s voice sounds like a beautiful symphonic musical instrument. My favourite CT song.
"Robin Guthrie's guitar just exudes beauty, not to mention Liz's vocalizations." - absolutely! this song, especially in headphones and in the context of the album after "Half-Gifts" - ooooh lalalala soooo perfect!
Karel Zich On behalf of Shum...I thank thee :)
If this was a gift to the world from their final album well then what a legacy. We should all be very grateful. Thank you CT. ❤
Superb music with a heavenly voice. Delicious for my soul...
This song is like Heaven!!!
or maybe Las Vegas.
The word like is superfluous ❤

in love with every syllable and note on this cd from the first time I heard it. still can't decide if this or "treasure hiding" is my favorite.
Beautiful song
Agreed! Shum65 - your videos are visually mesmerizing, and I think capture the enchanting essence of the Cocteau Twins' songs.

the reason CT dominate every other band with similar music is the quality of liz's melodies and singing.. nobody remotely comes close

hi there, real nice to see these vids again, xxxmartine
Absolutely, Simon's influence is underrated. Nevertheless, listen to Robin's "Bordertown". Is seems the instrumental extension of this great song!

I first heard this track almost 18 years ago. It's now 2017, and I still don't know what a Calfskin Smack is :D
check the lyrics. its all very succinctly laid out.
it's a slang for swearing on a bible.

There is no band I miss more than this.
Their website is down/gone.
SPEECHLESS
I wonder if Liz did her own arrangement of her voices, or did Simon, or Robin have imput in where she did so...

I have to follow my pride
Life, is, it just seems right, now
(Ouh la la la la la)
And when I had you
I didn't always want you, baby
I'd cry myself out
But you survived and this amazed me
Sleep, sleep, God made it cry
(Even into)
Call, call, calling to yourself
(Calling to find)
Then find anger's in a part of me
(Anger's a cannibal)
You won, those flawless, little flaws

For fans of Cocteau Twins who want something similar which is new, try out Beach Houses "Bloom" and their "Teen Dream" Album.
Who needs something new when the best music already has been made and is available! Thanks but I’ll stick to the originals and classics 😁❤️
@@Silvia-jy8zc yes but you should also continue to look for new music and broaden your horizons
Beach House are rubbish compared to Cocteau Twins. There is absolutely nothing moving about their music.
Not even close! Rubbish by comparison.
Did I read that Prince liked them?
