    Cool retro piece. I think Fossil are one of the few fashion brands that kinda get a pass amongst collectors mainly I think because they're not ridiculously overpriced & you hear a lot of stories of people having had them for many years. & they also seem to be a bit of a gateway into collecting.
    Personally I don't mind the brand.

    Cool piece AJ. I’ve reviewed (but not owned) two fossil watches. I found them to be ok watches esp for around the 100-125 dollar range. The last one I reviewed my pal Timmie paid 185 dollars for it, a cool chronograph watch with a rotating bezel that looked great but not quite worth the 180-185 dollars that he paid for it. At end of the day it was a nice looking watch (not fashion style at all) and he was very happy with it, and for the right price I would have bought it as well just not what he paid.

    • @AvgJoeWatchReviews
      @AvgJoeWatchReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that they have some overpriced prices indeed. I think we can say that about most brands actually. There’s always that line we are scratching our head and saying really? Then we buy the more affordable watch in the lineup. 😂

    I have an automatic fossil watch I got in the 1990’s. It is really great -it’s a skeleton watch in the front with a metal back. It’s all gunmetal black- not grey, and reminds me of a propeller plane straight on. It’s second hand dial works but the hands don’t move. I brought it to an actual Fossil store, hoping they could repair it. They said fossil wouldn’t touch it if anyone else tried to service it, and they didn’t have a tool to open the back. Googling tells me to either tighten the screws or blow compressed air in and around the inner workings. I’m frustrated that I can’t fix it myself. But I may try to use the air on it and check if I have any loose screws on it. I might not have any screwdrivers small enough. Btw I got a Big Tic when they first ran out, which was stolen by housekeepers at a hotel as well as some other choice items. But I loved it at the time!

      Personally I would buy the same watch on eBay and either use that watch OR if the watch is sentimental, swap the movement. That would be cheaper than buying a new movement. For instance this watch I featured today, I’ve seen it as low as 10.00! A movement would be at least 30.00 IF I could even find one. Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. Hope that helps.

    I was so hyped that I finally found a video for this until 3:33 when I noticed it was already unscrewed and moved to the side. I'm having a hell of a time trying to loosen that little screw so that I can move that piece over to then put a new battery in. It just won't turn for me and I feel like I'm gonna slip one of these times with the small flat head screwdriver and mess something up. Please help if possible.
    See I thought there was something wrong with my watch because i didnt know there was 2 batteries. I just changed the one big ass one and noticed that the digital seconds worked fine but the hands weren't moving. Had no clue the Big Tic has 2 batteries. 1 huge one and then underneath that is the small one and that fn small screw is giving me all sorts of trouble. I can just about Flippin scream. I hope you reply back man I'd really appreciate it. Also great video

    • @AvgJoeWatchReviews
      @AvgJoeWatchReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you. 🙏 Without seeing the issue you’re having, I can only speculate. First, I would change the size of the screw driver. You’ll be amazed how a size up or down can make a difference gripping a screw. If that doesn’t work, you can take WD 40 and put a drop on a Q-Tip and attempt to get a little under the screw. Hope this helps.

    Hi Joe. Just for info: Zodiac is not a Microbrand at all. It was founded in 1882 in Switzerland. One of my - old time - favorites is the Zodiac "Sea Wolf" a diver from the 50ties ,60ties and 70ties. I like that you still own this watch. Many things that I bought in the past simply got lost over the time with all those moves to other places and cities. Regarding longevity I can say: I´m just wearing my old father´s 1969, Bulova Accutron Deep Sea 666 and after a service + new batterie it is now running strong and keeps time just like it was new...............I love it !

    Hi, Joe! I've always been a huge watch fan and was digging through an old jewelry case when I came across my Big Tic. I've worn it on and off the entire time, however today I noticed a large sliver glob on one side of the screen. I wonder if this is a failure of the glue holding down the the LCD component or if it will clear up with a battery change? Previously, it's always just displayed the fully black screen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) (PS - My original Movado Museum was in the same box! Even the band is still supple. Oh, the 90s!)

    • @AvgJoeWatchReviews
      @AvgJoeWatchReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Tanya! Thanks for watching. My advice would be to find one on eBay as it would be much cheaper to replace it than getting it fixed. Sounds like the LCD screen is toast and no parts for this watch would be available through Fossil. Nice find with the Movado as well! Sorry I don’t have better news.

    Gosh I didn't even realise it was some 30 years old. The interesting thing is that I recently had the batteries changed after a having it stored for years in my drawer because the batteries were dead. Now it runs again but the digital numbers change every minute instead of every second, like they used to do. What I don't like is that it doesn't run simultaneously with the big (minute) hand. Any thoughts on this, Joe?

    • @AvgJoeWatchReviews
      @AvgJoeWatchReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s because it is, essentially two different watches in one. You could keep the tweezers over the 2 points and attempt to reset as the analog hands changes but that would be a difficult task. Not impossible but difficult.

  • @Flint_Westwood
    @Flint_Westwood 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yep. I have a Fossil Big Tic that I've had for about 30 years. I recently replaced both batteries but unlike yours, mine has a larger battery and a smaller one mounted in the movement one on top of the other.
    I used to wear mine constantly for years so regrettably it's pretty scratched up - particularly the crystal.
    Still wear it though as it's a unique piece I've had for so long.

I also opened it up and replaced the batteries about a year ago and it still worked. It did however stop at some point as its not running anymore but it could have been bad batteries.
