Created by Howard Mackie and Javier Saltares, this version of Ghost Rider first appeared back in 1990 in Ghost Rider Volume 3, issue #1.
To know the origin of Dan Ketch as the Ghost Rider means to know the origin of the Ghost Rider. The history of the Ghost Rider dates back to well over a millennia ago. During this time there was a Great War between the demon, Zarathos and a group of immortals known as the Blood. To win the war, the Blood aligned themselves with the Spirits of Vengeance. However, to harness the power of the Spirits of Vengeance, the Blood created the Mythical Medallion of Power. At the conclusion of the war, not only had the Blood won, but they also managed to trap part of Zarathos inside their medallion. With both the Spirits of Vengeance and Zarathos trapped, they split the medallion and passed it down into the spiritual bloodlines of two different families.
After the medallion had been split, nothing was heard from the Spirits of Vengeance for many years. As with most things, however, this wouldn’t last...

I want Danny Ketch to be the Ghost Rider of the MCU. We have seen Blaze, we have seen Reyes, now I think it is time for Danny Ketch to take the stage. Ketch's Ghost Rider was the one to first use the iconic chains, the first to use the penance stare, the first to ware the spiked leather jacket, and the first to be known as the Spirit of Vengeance seeking retribution to those who spilled innocent blood as that was his whole motif. Also, his story would be easier to tweak to fit within the MCU yet still stay true to the comics. Finally, I loved his story growing up because it dealt with the morality of vengeance despite intentions (the good, the evil, and the worse), and how vengeance can be the user's own executioner since the need for vengeance might destroy them in the end. In the middle of the run, Danny asks the question if vengeance really is justice or if it's just a dark, twisted imposter. It was such a good story

Yeah. I think they go to Johnny because he’s well-known. But they’ve proven more than enough times that lesser known characters do extremely well
@@ComicBasics Johnny and Zarathos`s appearance, powerset, allies and enemies were basically stolen from Danny and Noble anyways in the Later Comics and Films anyways.
The wikipedia entry for Zarathos is missing all of this information - even the bits that are very Zarathos heavy (no mention of a battle with the Blood or the Spirits of Vengeance taking place prior to Zarathos's interactions with the native American tribe that resurected him). Being that a part of him was broken off during this conflict and was strong enough to create a medallian that would eventually lead to the creation of a being that was as strong as the Zarathos Ghost Rider (I think, at least) seems like information that was relevant enough to include. Either way, the Ghost Rider mythos is pretty hard to follow and I really appreciate this video that helps explain it a bit better.

I like Danny ketch cause his fire is blue. He is a very underrated version of Ghost Rider. I think he looks more bad ass than JB due to the flames being blue.
