She says 'please don't look too closely at the curtains, they're very badly sewn.
Videographer: slowly and very closely pans down curtains intently
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 But truly, what a fun build!! A lot of truth spoken here ❤️ I love it!

I've watched a lot of bus tours. The interview with them talking about changing your lifestyle and not being trapped in a soul sucking "supposed to" box is the best way I've ever heard it put. So inspiring!

I heard a lot of other van life people talk about the shower thing, but honestly as long as you have soap and water your good to go!!! 👍 I love your bus layout, it looks really homey, and good for you guys living your best life!!! ❤️

Stop and think about the millenia people didn't have showers. Was nobody clean? Maybe not like modern clean, but healthy. They just washed with soap and water.

@@baskervillebee6097 I remember staying at my great grandma's place as a child, there was no indoor bathroom, but there were big metal washtubs for bathing in. I feel so old for just saying that!!! Lol I remember her heating up the water on the wood stove. She would put some cold water in first of course. Lol

I’ve never seen the solar panels mounted like that on the side of the vehicle. A+ creativity when faced with the desire to keep the existing storage space on the roof. They do face a greater risk of either vandalism to the panels or damage from road debris, so it’s a trade-off which I’m sure they must have evaluated.

Love your bus and think you are smart to "seize the day" and live life now. I about worked myself to death--very stressful management position--for ten years, before I took early retirement on my 60th birthday. I make a fraction of what I would have earned if I had worked 4 more years, but who's to say you'll have them? Also as I hope to live to ancient, like most of my relatives, I'll get that money back and then some over the years. Your philosophy on life is also mine. Well met.

👍 great video. Was great that it addressed some of my concerns about beginning bus life. Right now Eric & Robyn are at my place building out my bus. Eric is AWESOME ! CARPENTER ! Originally we discussed building out my galley. I figured I could rough out the majority of the build and didn’t need perfect. But I didn’t want my cabinets and counter tops to look “cobbled “ together so I reached out to them. Eric has jumped right in to the whole bus build (though he said preferred smaller projects) and is a blessing of information and decision help. Robyn has become a wonderful friend who is a joy to be around and she and my brother are having cooking contests. Happy crew 👍🏻😁
As Wanderboom he is posting videos of my big bus build so pop over to their channel and check it out. I’m looking forward to beginning my nomad adventure. But absolutely best of all is knowing I have the excellent enjoyable friendship of Robyn & Eric out there, no matter if we’re traveling together or not. A meet up in the desert is definitely in the future. If they are any indication of the caliber and quality of people you’re going to meet out there ….. I agree with Robyn ….. “Let’s go !” 👍🏻😁❤️

What’s the long term plans … like when you’re 10, 20 years older ? When you physically can’t live in that ?
We traveled for a few years in a class C. Loved it. We miss it, but we bought some cheap land and my husband has built our house. No mortgage … we pay as we go. So, that is also very freeing. The thing with traveling in a motor home, is you most always have to pay to park it somewhere.
But I do love the traveling lifestyle. We plan on traveling again when my husband retires in a few years.

And watching you both living your best life is so satisfying. I’m so happy for you for breaking out of the conventional life and living the life you love. I hope I run into you when it’s my turn. Just to hug you and say thank you. Much love. Have fun.

We soooo appreciate this video! Hubby and I just retired and are in the process of building out a 6 window shuttle bus. We are musicians and hope to play as we travel. We are creative souls and plan to carry his shop tools and my sewing/beading/macrame supplies.
All the topics you mentioned we have discussed. We have also come to the conclusion that simplicity gives you more variety in how you use your space and enjoy time. We hope to meet you on the road! Cheers!

Sounds like it's time to buy one and start building!

    • @juliescrazybuslife
      @juliescrazybuslife ปีที่แล้ว

If you think about where you can park the shuttle bus once you are envisioning living in it, perhaps renting a spot on a friend's property where there are no homeowners association regs or out in the country with the same thing where you rent or even work in lieu of your stay there. So once you have that part figured out, think of it like this... If you took 4 months rent or mortgage payment and add it together, you could probably buy a bus. Think about whether you would want to do a roof raise or buy something that is already taller. This is why I chose a shuttle bus. So once your first investment is buying the actual vehicle, you've just bought your house! Every cent that you put into it is an investment! Just like a home or dwelling there will always be maintenance and upgrades needed along the way. Once you realize this, then you realize that you can do this! Does it go as planned, hardly ever! Downsizing is the first important thing because you got to get rid of everything you don't need. It's excess weight. We've been taught to buy buy buy but when you are in any kind of a bus or nomadic life, you realize you have more than you really need. It's actually the beauty of it! Look at what you can use that you already have for your bus. Or if you're lucky enough to have materials available, got that sucker and start building your home! You're worth it! At that point you can pretty much live anywhere you want to! If you don't like your spot, turn the key and drive off :-)

I was impressed with your first walk thru video and had to laugh at all the comments about Eric saying he showered once a week. When my dad semi retired he finally turned his shower into a closet and just washed up at the sink. The tent is a cool option. You guys are so far ahead of the rat race. All the best!

Love all your doors and the openness of the interior of the van, it's connection to the outdoors. The outdoor shower sounds like fun. I've looked at them on Amazon and thought that would be great on a camping trip. This setup works well for you guys, go forth with God's blessings in good health and happiness!

This hit so close especially the part about the soul sucking corporate matrix. I'm 53, just got fired from a job I thought I would retire from, whole future just shot to shit and me nearly homeless contemplating my existence and researching peaceful ways to just check out of the whole thing. The opportunity to buy a shuttle bus or skoolie is on the table and before I rent another apartment I'll spend my unemployment lump sum on my new house on wheels. Invest in some starlink equipment and start scraping for interiors. Thank you for your tears ma'am, as I gather them with mine. This was inspirational and got me vision boarding to manifest my semi-retirement and forever home on wheels.

Wow...this really got to me when you talked about life expectancy...my sweet hubby is 14½years older than me. We've had our own HVAC/R company for 32cyears. He's 67 years old now. And still runs circles around out MUCH younger technicians. I've been BEGGING him to retire, sell our home and travel together in a van or schooling. We're both previously divorced and have a blended family. So we have never really been alone. All I want to do is be together and live a nomadic lifestyle. He was TOTALLY AGAINST it until the last 2 months. He doesn't want to get rid of our house (we own outright), and is nervous about leaving the business in someone else's hands. When you started crying and describing exactly why y'all decided to do this, I broke down. 💔 😔 Praying that he'll watch this video and SERIOUSLY CONSIDER doing this with the time we have left. I love your build and the woodwork. My husband is also a carpenter, and hand built beautiful solid maple cabinets for our kitchen and s huge beautiful table for our 8 person family. We were blessed with 6 children (3 girls & 3 boys). Now we have 13 amazing grandchildren!! My dream also includes building 2-4 loft bunks to be able to take our children and/or our grandchildren on trips as well. Thank you for sharing this personal information with us!! God bless you and keep you in your travels!! ✝️ ❤️ 🙏🏼 🕊

I really hope you two get to enjoy life in the fashion you desire. Travel, get some r & r. There is more to life than just working.
But not sell your home and business, especially the home.
It can be hard to walk away from something you built, invested so much in. And to trust someone else with it.
I pray God will send someone he can trust to run the business.

I felt like this at 30 years old, when 2017 before my cousin passed he the words that stuck with me was when he said I wish I had traveled more, cause he had been on a job for years missed no days perfect attendance. He said I wish i could've did things different instead of being a workaholic. 6 months later he passed. Him knowing he had 6 months to live he never mentioned it or complained. That implanted a seed in me live life, do what I want what makes me happy. I don't wanna be on my death bed wishing I had've..

My husband and I bought an acre of land 4 years ago and we converted a shuttle bus and live in that. Unfortunately, where I live you cant just life in a bus forever. You tove to have a house with a foundation. We are in the process of building our house and it should be done in 6 months. We have a small landscaping business and since we have such little expenses we can build littel by little as we make money from our business. When our house is done it will be worth 350k and we will have no mortgage and we're not even 50. Since we decided to live this way, we don't have to work that much. I'm so glad we made this decision. Living simple makes it easier to survive.

Oh, I LOVE this couple! They are so nice! I wonder if they have room for me? I'll sleep on the floor... And my husband won't mind, because he refuses to do vanlife or even travel with me!! 😂🥺😭🙄

They are absolutely correct. My husband kept working and died at 70 - over-worked and killing himself. I can't and won't do it on my own but living small and differently will work for me. Once I moved through most of the grief, I will make a decision.

I dig it. I've seen your bus on another channel. I like the solar panel idea. I was trying to figure out a way to put them on the side. That would work, and protect the windows to vent.
