This is absolutely my favorite comic book channel because of the way you offer significant and historical facts about your books, while doing so in a comfortable and layman's manner. Allen The Comic Collector Geek is my #2 😁
Love all those books, especially the Spider-Man! No surprise, since i am a big Spider-Man fan, right? I just put this in my want list last week when i went through my Spectacular boxes. I really enjoyed the Cloak and Dagger show! Lived rhe historic significance and infobon the books! Thanks for another great video. I hope to make it back down to Greenfield before winter!
Ed Hannigan's Spidey work is underappreciated by fans, he really brought a fresh feel and look to the characters and their settings. Great to see piles of Treasury Editions in the opening of the video, and an Epic Illustrated issue too, Marvel's answer to Heavy Metal with some stunning stories and art, many of which have never been reprinted and one, Byrne's "The Last Galactus Story", which has notoriously never been finished.
"I have some 4.5's behind me, and this one looks better than all of them." - no joke. I have a 5.5 of that book, and yours looks better than mine. Nice grabs!
The origin of Cloak and Dagger where you find out their names and where they are from is in the first Limited Series. I too would love to own that first appearance.
Love all 3 books! I have the Peter Parker book in mint condition from waaaay back in the day. Great story, great art, great NEW characters. Well done, Mike!
I also just picked up Captain America 117. Mine is a CGC 7.0. Like yours, the main flaw was a detached bottom staple. Although, I don’t see that. Nice grabs! Luke Cage is on my list to get.
I was on that MagicGeeks stream you recorded at and you did a great job selling! I love that Luke Cage book and bought a graded copy a few years ago. That 4.5 grade seems low and further maks me question these graders. Grader had a bad day, yelled at for being late - tough grade. Great pickups!
I've always loved Cloak & Dagger. They're a very underrated street-level super-hero tandem. Despite being canceled for low viewership, I enjoyed their brief live-action series on Freeform.
Great deal Mike! I'd clean/press both of them. The LCHFH looks to be a 6.0 as is to me. But I'm not getting a super close look at it on TH-cam either. Congrats!
@10:00-A young actor named Nicholas Coppola wanted to distance himself from his famous uncle, film director Francis Ford Coppola, in order to make a name for himself. He decided to change his last name to one of his favorite comic book characters, "Cage." Now, some people would say "Nicholas Cage" is a comic book character himself!
The only concern that I have is that those black characters, Sam Wilson and Luke Cage were created by European Caucasian men and not by African American people. I would like to see black characters created by black creators, black writers. As a mixed person. half-Asian man (my dad's Asian and my mom's white) I would also like to see more Asian American creators create Asian characters. I only know a handful: in the past there's Jim Lee, Whilce Portacio, Larry Hama, Stan Sakai...but these days, Asian creators are booming: Peach Momoko, David Nakayama, Lan Medina, Artgerm, etc. but only a few create Asian characters. This is why I collect and I dont hate on modern comics like a lot of old collectors do where they snub modern comics and say they only collect golden-copper age comics where the majority of creators are white men. The USA is the land of the free and the land of opportunity for everyone. I hope Marvel and DC will give more opportunities for EVERYONE. Especially writers. Majority of American comics writers are still white and they gate keep other races from becoming writers. For artists, it's changing.
@@njmdromanah122So that's one. There should be more black characters as equal to euro centric characters. I did realize too that in the spectrum of whiteness there is a hierarchy. Blondes are on top, then brunettes, gingers, and eastern euroeans are In the bottom.
I can get why you would get turned off when collectors say they don't collect modern age comics. It's like saying I don't stand for diversity. This is why I really love watching The Comics Den channel. Not only does Sara and Angelo love modern age comics but look at the people they interact with on their channel: Latinos, black people and Asians.
@@DareSB7 Well at least they have powerful characters like Icon and Blue Marvel, Meanwhile the Filipinos have the triumph Division who died in there first appearance, And before I go I'm just gonna say this you don't need to mention the so called whiteness hierarchy to me because I'm way too brown to think of that bs hierarchy that I have nothing to do with

Agreed! I love this channel, as Mike does an absolute solid job with this channel. My second favorite youtube comic channel is the Comics Den.
Talk about a wall! Geez! Congrats on the Cloak, Dagger, Falcon and Luke Cage find!
Mike, congrats on making the Finalists on the Comic Book Community Awards...!! Cool...!!
Great video Mike. All great books.
I just learned about Dell's Lobo character from another collector's channel days before watching this.

Wow! At 2:57. I saw they had the guide to collecting comics. I had that as a teen in 80s great and informative book for the time.
The origin of Cloak and Dagger where you find out their names and where they are from is in the first Limited Series. I too would love to own that first appearance.
Great pickups!
The Luke Cage is my favorite. He doesn't get talked about as much as he should in my opinion.

Oh man ive been looking for the 1st app of cloak and dagger for awhile. Great find man. Keep up with these awesome videos. Excelsior!

There is a similar story in Captain America (exploitation of teens) . Speaking of Cap, good shirt.

I think I have every Cloak and Dagger book, but I don't have the first appearance yet. Very cool pick up.
Congrats on the purchase

I thought there were comics marketed specifically at African Americans back in the 50s. maybe they don't count as mainstream releases?
@@richardhunter132 I’m not sure but I’m guessing they weren’t “superheroes” or lead characters
They are mutants
