My Dying Bride saved my life. I have depressions since is was a child. And suddenly there was this soundtrack for my pain. I was 15 and now Im 44. Thank you Aaron!
Aaron seems to be very enthusiastic about MDB music after all these years. And this is great, waiting for their new stuff
The new album is on you tube
He sells himself short on his vocal abilities, he has a ton of range and he's one of my favorite for both death vocals and clean singing...
Aaron's clean, mournful vocals are unmatched and amazing
He does a fantastic job of selling his more melodic, clean gothic-esque singing in High Parasite, as well! He sounds really good on that track & I'm very excited for the upcoming album.
I can listen to Aaron talk all day. Such a awesome guy! Great interview
One of the best interviews in the series.
I agree. I was also happy how it turned out. 😊
I agree, it was brilliant.
One of the best clean/death metal vocals.
I agree, of course, but I would say Amorphis' Tomi Joutsen is a notch above. Love MDB though.
I was so fortunate to have seen My Dying Bride here in my hometown of North Canton Ohio USA. They played at a place long closed now called Sadie Rene's. That day was May 10th 1997 and I will never forget it. Thank you so much Mr. Stainthorpe and MDB for a lifetime memory.
Aaron's death metal vocals are brilliant! One of the greatest ever in fact.😎🤘
I was 16 when I heard them for the first time. Fell in love with the people able to express my pain. I'm 46 now and I realize no week goes by without listening to their music. I doubt this will change soon.
What a terrific character, great British eccentric.
I'm 45 and I used to be a death metal vocalist. Learned how to roar from listening to old my dying bride. Aaron is great. He's continued to grow and evolve as a vocalist over the years. He has many voices. He's improved on the clean vocals a lot.
Aarons story about the microphone being quite hard and the elderly friends seeing him live was just brilliant. That are stories that stick and as a frontman myself for Metal and Rock bands I can totally relate to both
Fantastic.
Aaron is definitely the gentleman of doom metal. Hope they can somehow appreciate what they mean for the fans. What would the life be like without ever having heard Catherine Blake !!
I really like that you, Arto, allow your guests to speak instead of interrupting them, like some interviewers sadly do.
This was an amazing interview! Great questions!
I have been a huge fan of My Dying Bride for over 20 years, and it’s fun to see Aaron so enthusiastic about their music.
Keep up the amazing work! 🤘😃👍
Well it really depends also about the guest. Sometimes you dont really know if they are ending their answer or continuing after a short pause and those kind of interviews are very difficult from the journalist point of view. :D This one was very easy. :)

Yeah, I can understand that. Once again, this was a great interview and it’s fun to see My Dying Bride get attention.
They are, I think, one of those bands that are known by (almost) everyone that listens to Doom Metal, but in my experience, people who don’t listen to Doom specifically, have rarely heard of them. At least here in Sweden. So ot’s great that you give them some attention, and hopefully this interview will lead to more people discovering them, and getting a chance to experience their amazing music. Thank you, Chaoszine!
@Wolfman_Gaming Oddly enough, I think the first time I ever heard about them was in a Frenzal Rhomb song. Good bands, though both very, very different. I don't think I got around to truly giving My Dying Bride a chance until around 2014 or so, I'm pretty late to the game but I've loved 'em ever since!
@@Phantom_Mountain_Art That’s great to hear! I was introduced to them by a friend of mine.
I was a visiting him, and he said: ”I have a band here you might like”, it was MDB and I was instantly hooked. 🤘
I’ve never heard of Frenzal Rhomb. In what song do they mention MDB?
Rock on!
@Wolfman_Gaming Frenzal Rhomb is an irreverent Australian punk band. The song is "Edward Sausage Fangs"
The bit where they mention MDB, the lyrics read: 'I see your black eyes
through the shimmering heat,
you look like My Dying Bride
with a nametag that says
"Hi, I'm Steve".
The only goth in the pizza shop'
Which is to say, they're not often the most serious band in the world.
I'm looking forward to Aaron's new bands upcoming full length. It sounds a lot like Paradise Lost and really shows off his voice in a nice way. Have you checked that out yet?
Excellent interview with Aaron.
Been a fan of MDB since around '95 and I may be the only one on the planet who thinks The Ghost of Orion is a pure masterpiece across the board.
I see quite often fans of the band say they don't care for that album for one reason or another. And now hearing Aaron say he feels the constant layered vocals may have been a mistake, breaks my heart a little.
In my humble opinion, as a long-time fan, nothing is out of place on that album. It's perfect as is.
Bought the new album A Mortal Binding and I absolutely love it as well. Between Ghost of Orion and Mortal Binding, I'm loving the more mature sound the band has been going in.
It's just a shame that last week it came to light that the band have been in some type of discord with each other. I sincerely hope they don't break up. But if they happen to break up, they have left us a brilliant discography.
Brilliant interview, Arto! One of your best. Aaron is a treasure.
Love Aaron what a great personality and metal legend..I was watching some of those 70 tonnes cruise videos online and the first thing I noticed was his death metal vocals sounded great 55 and sounding as good as ever
Awesome interview. Aaron is such a likeable gentleman.
Great interview, Aaron is in top form here, you've done a great job again Arto !..! !..!
Thanks. Aaron's answers were really good so big thanks for him being so great! 😊👍
@@chaoszine He's so enthusiastic and humble, you wouldn't know that he's been in the music industry for over 30 years!!!
Aaron keeps saying he is not a great singer, but his voice is actually one of my favorite voices i've ever heard, especially with the British accent, it kinda reminds me of Davy Jones from pirates of the caribbean. I personally think almost everyone can sing, unless you're completely tone deaf, the difficult part is finding out which style best suits your voice. I've always loved belting out the high notes like in phantom of the opera, but i've noticed my voice is more comfortable with singing really low, like the version of sound of silence by Disturbed. I am a heavy smoker though and i pretty much only drink coffee, so some days i can sing with a clear voice, but other days i can only do the extreme vocals, i might try drinking more milk.
Enjoyed so much, how did it go so fast, could've listened for longer! 🎸
I did listen the friday rock show here in Portugal
Fantastic interview! I lost track of MDB after The Dreadful Hours because that album just gave me everything I always wanted from that band. The classic albums get regular rotations in the wildmanfisher household. It's great to see and hear Aaron still have so much passion and drive in his art.
You should investigate the releases that followed it. A few have topped it and are even stronger.
Thanks for doing the interview from Australia great stuff & looking forward to their new album
Всем привет из Беларуси! С помощью суббтитров посмотрел интервью. Очень интересно! Да,Аарон прав,надо разнообразие в пении,особенно на концертах. P.S. И наслаждаемся новым шедевром от My Dying Bride! 🇬🇧🤘👍🍷
Awesome. Been a fan since their first album.
New album is excellent!!
To me Aaron Stainthorpe had the best death metal grunt out there. Just so incredibly powerful and with the best lyrical delivery.
I remember seeing him walking to their tourbus when Maiden played at Cirkus in Stockholm (during the X Factour). He's still the only rockstar I have seen remotely up close. It must have been him at least. They were great that evening.
Great interview 🤘🤘
Love how he just learned how to sing with a clean voice when they already formed a band without any prior experiences holding the mic before. Guy is really a legend, and honestly, they are the only doom metal band I listen to.
Aaron you’re so humble man!!!!!
I could listen to Aaron talking all day! He's a real gentleman and a very well-spoken, intelligent person. ❤ He even swears with grace! Lol
The angel and the dark river had no death vocals and the album after like gods of the sun also.
Amazing interview
❤❤
Aaron is def smart enough he could have been a lawyer or doctor, a brilliant man!
We don't just get on stage and put our sunglasses on top of our heads and drink Jack Daniels 😂
20:18 - Aaron makes a funny.
20:23 - Aaron smiles, Arto is unphased.
20:24 - Aaron turns away, realizing it didn't land.
it's okay Aaron, I chuckled.
wow milk. that's new, most vocalists avoid dairy
