I was visiting from NJ specifically to go to the old Comiskey and Wrigley. It was at the height of the push to replace Comiskey. I saw the Cubbies in the afternoon and my Yanks were playing the Sox that night. The Sox came back in the 9th to win the game. It was probably the only time I was glad they lost because the Na Na Hey Hey came roaring from the crowd.
I was only 4 and I was with my mom and dad at the blackout game and it was amazing. We were sitting in the right center seats right next to where Thome hit his homer
2008 one game playoff vs Twins aka The Blackout Game. When Thome hit the bomb in the bottom of the 8th to take a 1-0 lead, it was so loud I thought my brain was going to explode.
Man those were some moments and i'm proud to say that I was at some of those special games that had those loud crowds: The ALCS game 2 vs the Angels (AJ's drop ball call) '05 World Series game 1, the '06 sox vs cubs game at home (AJ getting punched 'in the grill' at home plate by Barrett) and the '08 blackout game.
As long as Jerry Reinsdorf owns the Sox, there won't be very many World Series moments to cheer about, as he DOES NOT want a World Series winner for the Sox, else he'd be spending money necessary on quality players to make it happen. Same thing with his other team, the Chicago Bulls. When they won their 6th NBA championship of the 90s, he made sure to dismantle the team, so as not to bring anymore championships home. That's what kind of a person he is. Reinsdorf needs to be made to sell both teams, and get out of the ownership business if he doesn't care about winning championships.
I realize that the new ballpark could have been designed better. Yes, it has the "cookie cutter " feel to it. But when that stadium is filled and something good happens for the White Sox, that place can rock with the best of them.
@@smithsthoughts There is one Thomas HR that was deafening at Comiskey. Mid summer...1993...Saturday night against Kansas City. Both the Sox and the Royals were taking turns leading the division. I think Kevin Appier started for KC against Jack McDowell. I believe it was 1-0 KC in the bottom of the 8th. Thomas came up with Warren Newsome on and hit a Home Run to left centre that ended up in the back row of the bleachers. Place went berserk and the high 5 Thomas gave to Newsome ( who was about 5'5") almost crushed him...Roberto Hernandez came in to close it out and the Sox went on to win the division.
I mean, measured from where? If some dork screams into a microphone from one foot away (like in the first clip, yeesh), it's going to sound "loud." For my money, the Konerko WS grand slam was easily the loudest reaction I personally experienced, followed by Carlos Lee's walk-off slam to beat the Cubs. I was present for both.
I was at game 3 in ‘21 , it was the loudest crowd I’ve ever heard in my life and I lost my voice. Best night of my life.
biggest regret ever was not going to that game when i had a chance
Me too 😢 That game was the best game I’ve ever been to 💯
And now they are 3 and 21 as of this comment
I was there too! Unforgettable
I had Hawks season tickets during all of the cup runs. This absolutely rivaled the noise and energy level of those playoff games.
Early crosstown was electric. The novelty and pure hatred between those two fan bases makes it such an underrated rivalry at the time
Yeah those early mid 2000 match ups nearly ruined friendships

In terms of decibel level, the loudest moment was Crede walk off double vs angels
I have never been anywhere else where I felt that kind of buzz. Absolutely unreal.
@@billiam247 The Konerko slam and Pods homer vs Houston were higher.
@@chibearsfan313 I wasn't present for those. I wasn't talking about anything I didn't personally experience.
100% what an awful call by Buck too

Man I miss that ear splitting air raid siren!!!
Bring it back!
Yet Cubs fans say our crowd is boring
White Sox fans are more energetic than cubs fans no doubt about it
Recency factor. 1978 doubleheader versus Twins was wild. Jim Spencer hit HR and Comiskey was rocking!
The whole weekend series vs KC in late July 1977.
Boy i miss those days
Looking back at the "Blackout" game. Three players had their most memorable moments with the Sox. Griffey, Danks and Thome.
The catch by Dewayne Wise to save Mark Buehrle's perfecto should have been on there. Great, loud moments, but Dewayne should be there.
Add Thome’s walkoff 500th HR and The Catch by Wise for Buehrle’s perfect game to the next one you do. The crowd lost it for both of those.
0:52 - Casual nap taking on the track next to the wall.

Gaurenteed rate field is such a lit ballpark and the fans are the greatest in Sports!
Wish I could hear the 05 world series on radio instead of Joe buck
The creed walk off and leury Homer we’re neck and neck as I was at both.

I miss Gio. Clubhouse is missing a guy like him.
I was at game 1. 🎉 That's all that needs to be said.
@Connor Smith any more 49ers highlight films????
I'm surprised Mark Burley's no-hitter didn't take this list because the fans went insane
It was a perfect game
No Big Hurt and only one Ventura walkoff? That's south side blasphemy.
Is that a young Sweaty Freddie appearance on Seattle??
Yep, 2000 ALDS Game 1. He gave up more runs in 3+ innings (4) than the Sox would score the rest of the series (3).
4:20. Kid covering his ears.
I wuz ina park '83 to see 3 back-to-back 1st inning homers (not 3 consec pitchs); name those hitters
Frank Thomas walk offs and Grand Slams not included?

3.9k views that's about the number of people per sox game...
Nah, it's the average number of people at Chewing Gum Field following the on-field action.
