The topic of homosexuality is showing up more and more on all the Christian channels and blogs. The reason is because deviant sexuality is being pushed more and more by our institutions. As believers we need to be careful not to waiver in our morals regarding this topic. Just because it is being pushed and obsessed over by society, we don't need to change our stance on the sinfulness of sin. Even when it is socially uncomfortable, we must stand in the Truth.

I loved Dr. Christopher Yuan’s testimony. We have 8 kids adopted from backgrounds of abuse. Two became homosexuals. I did not reject them, nor did I compromise the truth of the gospel for them. I told them it is a sin which can be forgiven when confessed and repented.I still love them and had continued talking and visiting with them. The older one rejected me. He cut us off. He called and told me that since I would not support his life style, I was unloving and he wanted nothing more to do with me. I told him that this is his decision and that I would have to accept his decision. He said,” Well, I guess that answers my question”.I told him that he did not ask me a question, that he had delivered his judgement on me and that he is the one doing the rejecting, he is the one exhibiting an unloving, intolerant attitude. That God had given each person the individual right to make decisions whether He approved or not, and that I must accept his decisions even though I disagree with them. He has not had any communication since even though I wrote him twice.
The other is our youngest daughter. She is addicted to sex with either gender, and to drugs. She “ married” another woman then divorced a year later. I tried to talk with them both about sin and forgiveness. She lives with who ever will take her in. She still calls me and meets with me now and then.

I used to have a “sinometer”. I was easier on murder than homosexuality. Then, I went to work with an ex-air force lesbian. She could have been my daughter. God changed my heart. Sexual immorality has consequences. This is an objective truth and not opinion. As Christians we cannot turn a blind eye in hopes we don’t offend. It’s actually more caring to talk about this for what it is…. sin, then to withhold truth fully knowing the destruction it brings. Following Christ means putting others above ourselves and saying truths that could potentially save them from eternal damnation while knowing it may offend but praying it will shed light into darkness.
Leaving them alone is the least loving thing we can do.

What about people who already know what the Bible says about sexual immorality, but choose to ignore it as outdated and/or judgmental? How do we show love to our friends/family who know and reject God’s standards? I’m asking this seriously. I was this person years ago, but I had family who loved me anyway. I knew their beliefs, but felt they didn’t apply to me. The Lord saved me and is refining me. Very good answer!
Reminded of the late Dr. Adrian Rogers who taught that as human beings, we have fatal attractions and flawed appetites rooted in Original Sin. This also serves a great backdrop for understanding the uniqueness of Christ in his temptations and Incarnation; that He possessed no fatal attractions nor flawed appetites. The devil tempts us with evil-but Christ, he tempted with good. In Christ, there was no itch which the devil could scratch, save for His righteous desire to do God's will and produce the Father's glory.

I think most homosexuals who ask this question are really asking, "Do you love me?" Of course our view and God's view of sin is not related to the amount we love a person. But they don't understand that. And they won't understand that if they think acceptance of their lifestyle is equal to love. Homosexuals have to be open-minded enough to really have the conversation and not just jump to, "Oh you think homosexuality is a sin so you don't love me, so I don't want to have anything to do with you anymore."
What they don't realize is that our warning that something is a sin is the most loving thing we can do. Like you said, sin keeps us in bondage. Homosexuality keeps people in bondage.
Unfortunately, there are spirits of homosexuality (and all kinds of sins/bondage) and until it becomes mainstream that we can cast demons out of people, people are going to have a lot harder time going against those sins/temptations. I personally have been set free of perversion that I think was demonic because after going through deliverance in Jesus' name I am no longer able to think some of the disgusting things I used to think. It is really amazing. Jesus freed me. Thank you LORD!

You could be attracted to all kinds of people, but if you are not engaging in behavior with them you are not supporting and actively participating in that sin. You can ask the Lord to help you to not have those desires and thoughts, and that is a part of placing yourself within His will. Ask God to help you to not be tempted. The first well documented example of homosexuality we have is in Greek society where it was common (and got to the point where it was basically expected) for older male landowners to have young male consorts. But it wasn't a sexual identity for them, it was a temporary transition period that they viewed as the natural progression from a boy to a man. It's a very strange practice and it's kind of rooted in how the Greeks viewed the importance of male fertility and how that relates to power but anyway it's a good example that homosexual behavior was not an identity historically, and it didn't result in long term monogamous relationships between two people of the same sex. That's a modern thing.

An excellent short discussion on these issues and I respect Dr. Yuan and his journey. One point in temptation being rooted in original sin is that Jesus was tempted in all ways as us, yet did not sin. Temptation for Jesus was not rooted in original sin but in His humanity. Just wonder how Jesus' temptation fits in the discussion. I admit that I have not read his latest book on the subject.

    • @taaron5595
      @taaron5595 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Interesting point. Is temptation rooted in original sin? You bring up the point that Jesus was tempted in all ways we are, yet he was without sin and without “original sin.” But also, Adam and Eve were tempted prior to the fall, and so were without original sin, as well. We see both cases, Jesus and Adam/Eve, as having been tempted directly by Satan, that temptation came from outside of them. But it wasn’t sinful until they gave into it. Certainly without having sin nature, Adam and Eve could have resisted, but did not. So is it something else about our humanity besides the fall and original sin causing our temptations? Free will perhaps? I don’t know, but something to think about.

    • @thestraightroad305
      @thestraightroad305 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Good point! Also, the original temptation was not rooted in original sin. It was external. The choice to disobey was the sin. I think there should be more clarification here about “original sin”, what they mean by “sin nature” (wasn’t that crucified with Christ? Is he talking about the flesh?) What are the distinctions he’s making? because I think there are discussions around this depending on theological traditions here.

One issue that is prevalent is that the doctrines of sin vary from group to group (e.g., Calvinists and Wesleyans). Calvinists tend to lump all sin together (thought, word, and deed), while Wesleyans differentiate between intentional and unintentional sin--notice that Calvinists have Side B in their ranks. I really like the way in which Christopher Yuan explained it. People should know that struggling with homosexual attraction--not behavior, including the use of pornography--will not get them kicked out of a church or even out of church leadership if they are continually battling it, rather than allowing it space in their lives. We all have sin to mortify; this is one example of it. We must also constantly focus on 1 Corinthians 6 and the fact that any Christian struggling with said attraction has been washed clean and should never call him or herself gay.

Temptation is a transient notion to do something wrong probably whispered to you by the enemy and is not something you are acting on. However, by choosing to continue to toy with that sinful thought and choosing to dwell on that thought and then choosing to fantasize about it and then choosing to allow yourself to fall into circumstances where that sin might occur (i.e., choosing to hang out somewhere like a bar, or gym, or someone's house or home or a coffee shop where you know you might bump into that "sin" situation) these are all examples of choosing to desire that sin to actually occur. Making these choices ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILTY. Secretly continuing to choose to desire a sin to occur is promoting sin in your life and is in itself a sin.

If you read Genesis 3, you will see that Eve is tempted by false suggestions. Instead of immediately rejecting the temptatious falsehoods, she mentally entertained them. Only then did she see the fruit as desirable. Temptation is the false premise, evil desire takes place when we give it credence.
Technically desire itself isn't sin. We were created to desire good things, namely God. So that's why desire is such a compelling force. But, as demonstrated in the garden, temptation asserts that God isn't truly good while concurrently postulating that something else is. And so our desire, along with all the power it entails, transfers to something unworthy of it. What makes it sinful is that the mantle of desire is reserved for God alone, and we adulterously bestow it to another.

I've listened to Christopher twice now and it sounds like what I'm hearing unless I misinterpret, is that same sex attraction is a sin. I do not hear a distinction here between an attraction that is a temptation (and temptation is NOT sin), and an attraction that is lustful. I'm also hearing that we should not just define same sex behavior as sin, we should say that the attraction is also sin. I would like to point out that there is a big difference (and this goes to "defining your terms" as Christopher suggests we do), between attraction and lust. The difference is that lust is a behavior (although it may be in mind only and not physically acted out), and attraction is a temptation. As a married man, I can see a beautiful woman and feel an instant attraction. This does not mean I will dwell on thoughts that go beyond that initial "seeing" of the woman. I can be attracted to many women but not act on that attraction either mentally or physically. This is simply the way men are visually wired. Someone who is same sex attracted may experience the same thing without acting on their lust (either mentally or phsyically). Many of the gay people I meet will say the same thing, that they never chose to feel same sex attraction but felt that even as a young child. I think in particular, Christians who experience same sex attraction, are being done a great injustice by being told their attractions are sinful, when no lustful behavior is taking place (mentally or physically). I would ask Christopher, how heavy of a burden do you want to place upon these Christians. In the model I hear you presenting (again unless I'm misinterpreting), it is pushing these people into a no win situation. They are already facing a life of celibacy which is had enough, and now they're being told they're sinning when a passing attraction comes across their path. We're telling them that they'll never be good enough and that there is really no hope for them. I don't think this video is intended to do that but I did not hear any way out or way up proposed. There was nothing encouraging offered or alternatives for those who may be distressed about their same sex attraction. I don't think this model is well thought through as presented in this particular video.

Since John was an Israelite he was well versed in the Torah. In the Torah we find that there are sins that brought the punishment of death and there were sins that didn’t. So this is not a new concept for John’s original audience. In John’s day there was the death penalty for murder if one of the groups believers committed murder they would have to let the authorities deal with the sentencing, they could not just pull the murderer aside and pray for him. If however a believer was guilty of sin such as gossip or lying or drunkenness you would then lovingly confront them and pray for them etc. I hope this makes sense.
When we read the Old Testament we discover that there are sins that God especially hates and sins that need swift decisive decisions for the good of the community. Then there are sins of omission things we should have done etc. All sins are not equal but we are all equally sinners and sinful.

Christopher it’s true that people with same-sex attraction need to follow Jesus. But to add to that, what that means for someone with same-sex attraction - and the very same to a single heterosexual person who doesn’t want to be single - is that they have to deny themselves and take up their cross….and cut their right arm off it it causes them to sin. This means a life of chastity (or for same-sex attracted, celibacy), and it’s no doubt a shocking and sadness-provoking thing to say, since the sexual revolution made us think we NEED sex and physical intimacy to be happy. We have to be sober in knowing this will not initially be a consoling thing to tell many people, and it will not be popular.
But we know that Christ is faithful, and also just. Jesus was very clear that there is an eternal consequence to not living a chaste life, and that we will not be given the Crown of Life if we disobey God’s commands. If Christ allowed someone to suffer the cross of same-sex attraction or an unwanted single life, we can be 100% confident God will offer the grace of courage to live a chaste life to those who sincerely try to live it and ask humbly for it. And that GOD HIMSELF will provide the same love and intimacy that we’d fear we’d be missing out on - and probably a lot more as a reward for living a virtuous life when it cost something. And that’s just in this life…how much more in the next?

Maybe because they spend most of their time in their heads and know very little about the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts and manifestations, demonic activity and its enforcement of delusional ideation, the authority of the believer or new creation realities. Having prayed with people who had been bound in homosexuality and seen them set free by the power of God (vexed by unclean spirits) and even had one say afterwards "where have I been?" the whole thing can be seen for what it is, a very powerful delusion. Love the sinner, hate the sin, but also, don't cast your pearls before swine. There is nothing more needed but sticking with true Biblical terms and meaning. You will always get those who try to pervert it, twist it to their narrative, misdirection, etc. Those who do that are fooling themselves and that can lead someone straight to Hell if they try to claim that any kind of sin is "acceptable", when it is not.
Many people do not understand that our thoughts and desires need to be corrected as well, but it is a process. I like that they use the real terms of being held in bondage of sin, which is what the Bible states. Our "sin nature" but we have hope, and our goal being that we follow Jesus, deny ourselves of the flesh and other bad habits. This is what it means to pick up our cross daily.
We will never get it all 100% right, it is a constant struggle, but the more we turn to Jesus and learn and grow by studying Scripture, praying consistently and without ceasing daily, will help us become stronger in the spirit, and be able to resist temptation and thus, stop these thoughts and desires from manifesting into the act of sin itself.
Being a true Christian is not easy. Following Satan and following the world views and just accepting everything is by far the easy way, but it is also the sin way, which leads to eternal death.
This is why so many people get mad and upset when they hear anyone quote from the Bible, or street preach the Word of God, because the word of God is like a sword, it pierces our soul with truth, and riles up our spirit which convicts us of the sin.
Why do you think so many people in bondage to sin are seen on camera all the time cussing people out for bringing up the Bible in public? Many people get riled up, claim it is "hate speech" because Christians do not think and agree with the sinful nature and lifestyle others are trying to force upon everyone else to accept and support.

"You have heard that it was said; 'you shall not commit adultry.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. " Mathew 5:27,28. Jesus came to fulfill the law, and die in our place, but if we are unwilling to agree with God about our behavior being sin, when he declares it to be sin, then we are rejecting God, and Will not be covered by Christ's sacrifice.

I can tell you that the foremost thing is to witness to all people from the same standpoint. Namely, that we are all sinners equally in need of the Cross. Ray Comfort does a great job with this because he uses God's law in the 10 Commandments. They apply to everyone regardless of their background. Check out Living Waters on you tube, which shows Ray's approach. That is a great starting point for anyone who wants to witness to someone else.
When sinners of all types come to Christ and repent at His Cross and genuinely turn their lives over to Him, the Holy Spirit begins to work in them. That is the starting point for any new believer. It is a process. And all new believers must trust the Lord in faith.
Where these two women are concerned, pray for them in that the Lord will touch their hearts with the desire to seek Him, just as you would any other sinner. He has all sorts of ways to reach people. Be their friend and they will know you genuinely care and one day they may even broach the subject with you. God bless you.

Speaking of defining terms, we need to define temptation. Yuan says "temptation is rooted in our sinful nature." We have to be abundantly clear about this thought, because although Christ was sinless and doesn't have a sinful nature, the Scriptures tell us, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin." - Hebrews 4:15
    .
I could easily see someone using this statement "temptation is rooted in our sinful nature" to argue against the divinity and/or holy nature of Christ.... unless we are 100% clear that temptation itself is simply the presentation of something to us that is against God's will. If we immediately flee from that temptation, then there is no sin, but if we give into that temptation through desire and/or "mulling it over", then we are giving into our sinful nature and sinning in thought, if not in word or in action. Christ had no sinful nature: he immediately responded to all temptation with God's Word, and so the Devil finally left him.
    .
I'm also very cautious about using phrases like, "this is not the worst sin". We know that all sin separates us from God, and ultimately what is worse than being separated from God? Rather, I use the phrase, "the sin of stealing a stick of gum doesn't carry as heavy consequences in this life as would murdering 6 million people". That much is factually accurate.

I really don't know if we can rate sin but because of these two facts alone we can say that it is higher on the list. If we accept the truths offered in scripture, then by all means share what it states. The question, "what do you think of homosexuality?" has no bearing. What God and Christ say is the operative factor here for a believer. Our thoughts about something must follow our beliefs. Answer that query with the scriptures that describe the punishment that attach to this or any other sin. That question and answer to not lead to a debate as you are finished. They have to decide while under the influence of the Holy Spirit. It is best to answer any question or comment with the truth then shut up. Again, that is how Christ presented things. Stop trying to make what we believe palatable. And stop worrying about offending someone. Consider Christ in the Temple turning over the money-changers tables ... is it possible there was an offence there?

I agree that we should avoid categorizing sins as "the worst" or "not the worst." We can certainly talk about the degree of worldly consequences of stealing a stick of gum being less compared to the penalty for committing multiple murders, but ultimately sin separates us from God regardless of how bad the worldly consequences are.
      .
I too agree with your thought that homosexual behavior is somehow "lesser" of a sin than something like, say...rape, fornication and adultery. All are sexual sins which we are warned are some of the most dangerous spiritually. It makes the list from St. Paul in Corinthians as something that will prevent a person from inheriting the kingdom of God. And as you correctly point out, it has led to many people accepting other behaviors that are sinful. Once you give up on male/female sexual relations strictly within what God defines as marriage, then a host of other evils come from it. The church gave up the ground on fornication and unbiblical divorce and remarriage in the 1960s, and now we scratch our heads wondering why sexual sins flourish in our midst.

No Christian can condone sin ……because God does not condone sin , it isn’t our rules , it’s His rules…….we worship God how He states , we don’t get to make up the rules …it’s as simple as that , and one day you will face judgement, and God will judge you , if you have no fear of that then you have brought that judgment on yourself , God does not want anyone to be dammed . Godless means lack of fear of Gods judgement, turn from your sinful ways and repent .

If temptation is not sin but is rooted in our sinful nature, how can it be possible that the fruit (temptation) has a different consideration than the tree it is the fruit of (sinful nature)? That seems a contradiction.
Sexual drive is not a sin. We all were created with sexual drive, that's part of our nature as humans. To feel the same-sex sexual drive is not the original design, that's a fact. It appeared with the fall, so one should think the same-sex drive is sinful. Labor pains also appeared as a consequence of the fall... is a mother sinning when in labor?
I lived as a gay man for 20 years. I became a Christian 3 years ago, and I am trying to figure out this. If the same-sex drive is sin (desire) where can I draw the line between sin and temptation? Can you be tempted by something you do not desire or have a proclivity to?

I would write him a very loving but very truthful letter, because he probably wouldn't listen to you in person. Scroll through and read some of my other comments for some tips that I would use. First tell him that there is absolutely nothing that can possibly separate him from the love of God, and therefore 100% forgiveness for any sin or mistake. Then mention that you're concerned for his salvation.
At some point you can eventually point out that his future testimony {of realizing his error in changing the body God gave him and having not realized that his identity was always in Christ (and not in his sexuality)} will save others from making the same mistake and give others the inspiration to come out of their transgender identity and return to a full identity in Christ.
I would expect that he most likely will cut you off socially, so be prepared for that and the probability that he will post your opinion publicly with other mutual friends who may also cut you off too. Don't be afraid to tell him the truth now, for you will be held accountable one day, by Christ, for having had that opportunity today.

There is no way for a Christian to discuss issues related to human sexuality without treating the pagan myth of evolution with scorn and derision, while confidently asserting and assuming that God is the Creator of the world and everything in it - including sex. So, there is an ought on the subject. There is a natural order to things established by God and rooted in His goodness and loving kindness. Without the goodness of God’s Creation, there is no way to claim that any form of adultery is unnatural or corrupt.

Definitely- defining terms, i.e. asking the questioner what they mean especially with certain "catch words", is indeed important. Some of these people don't even know the meaning of some of the words they use.
Same on the Christian side- some are not clear on what constitutes the sinful behavior. For example, plain attraction, affection, attachment, loyalty or love to a person of the same sex is not the same as the temptation of sexual attraction to a person of the same sex, and is not the same with actual sodomy between men. There is also a distinction to made between this issue, and the issue of same-sex unions.
The first is just love. This exists between friends and family, like between brothers or close friends. This is not sinful at all. On the contrary, Christians are commanded to be such to one another.
The second is temptation. It can lead to sin- but is not itself an act of sin. It can be overcome daily, but is part of our corrupt nature. Hence some will fall, but are Christians consistent in the enforcement towards other "sins" or are they being especially harsh/unforgiving towards those with this particular struggle? Why the partiality, when Christians are commanded to be impartial as God is? And why the ungraceful language that some groups use sometimes- when Christians are told to be gracious in their speech?
The third is a violation of God's law- to which believers should be rebuked, but to which unbelievers are not subject to judgment from believers (1 Cor 5:12)- as unbelievers will receive their due from God. And remember that whenever you judge others (what more when you condemn them!), that you bring condemnation upon yourself for the same grounds as your accusation- if it is found, and yes, God knows, that you are guilty of such as well.
So say, if you are condemning a gay person, make sure in your whole life that you don't have so much as a thought beyond how attractive a person of the same sex is. Be careful! Just the look can count as sin in the heart. Check your hearts before you start wagging your finger at a gay person- or any other "sinner" for that matter. Hence why the main teaching for all Christians is humility, and to avoid judging, because most (all, really) are unworthy (Romans 14; James 4).
Does this mean the church should stop teaching that homosexuality is a sin? Not at all. But should Christians try to be more gracious in speech, and not condemning in their approach? Yeah. Some groups are compromising the teaching- that's not good. Some groups are doing okay. Some can do better; but some are just unnecessarily annoying, rude or hostile; not gracious at all- who will even argue that the time for "soft language" is done and that Christians need to be more forceful on this particular topic (but not other topics?). Man, it's like they need to be reminded that the fruit of the Spirit is, uh, patience and kindness...

It's really simple. Everyone has an inclination to temptation. Violent temper, greed, covetous, sloth, lust, etc. etc, etc. Being attracted to the same sex is no different. Just don't act upon it. If it's not moral for a heterosexual Christians to seek to have sex before marriage or after, then its the same for homosexual Christians. Some will say,"But according to the Bible, they can't get married, and ever have sexual intimacy." True. But there are many straight Christians who cannot find a mate, or will ever have the opportunity to marry someone of the opposite sex. So they have to carry the same cross, if they want to follow Christ. Christ stated to look upon another with lust in one's heart is just as bad as commuting the act. So is that only for heterosexual Christians, and not LGBTQ ones? Christ taught if the eye offend thee, pluck it out. Stay away from friends and situations that lead you into temptation, whether it be getting drunk, high on drugs, pornography, recreational sex, etc.
Love and tolerance taught by Christ was never meant to be a license, or give exceptions to some and not others. The Straight and narrow way He taught applies for everyone. We are to be disciples of Christ, the key word is discipline. Too many want a loosey-goosey Gospel, where love removes justice, morality, and accountability. The real question to ask oneself: "Do I really want to follow Christ, and strive to be like Him, or do I want to serve God and mammon both?"

  • @befunkrn
    @befunkrn ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm very disappointed in this video, and especially in Alisa, since I don't really know Christopher. Jesus said if you're married and lust after someone other than your spouse, then you are guilty of adultery. Or if you carry a real seething anger against someone, you are guilty of murder. So, if one chooses to continue to lust after someone of the same sex, they are still guilty of the entire homosexual sin.
And, here's something that unfortunately neither Alisa or Christopher went into, which is that each Christian is to identify as a newly adopted child of God and not as their prior sinful self. Why didn't he/she/they discuss this? A Christian who once lived life as a "gay" person can no longer identify themself as "gay", no longer identify themself as "same-sex-attracted", but must turn themselves over entirely to Christ as belonging to and identifying themself with Jesus, not their former lifestyle.
Christopher stumbled around feebly repeating and looping around way too much before he finally admitted to "Pick up your cross" which he should have said as the start as the basis for his answer.
And Alisa just went along with him, (yeah, it's not the worst sin"), so disappointing!!!
Christ has to come first in our lives, not our prior sin identity.
It's not easy to do, (I struggle with my deep seated sins), but we must be determined to choose Jesus and to repeatedly to pray and choose Jesus over and over and over until our identity in Him becomes our true reality.

    Romans 1:26 says:
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
So here we have Paul writing about women turning against their nature, meaning the women Paul is speaking about turned away from having men as their intimate partners. The context is obvious if we read the whole chapter.
If this type of behavior was condoned, it wouldn’t be referred to as a “vile affection” to be vile is not a good thing in any remote sense.
Then we have the following verse Romans 1:27 which says:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
So in this verse, In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he is describing men turning away from being attracted to women and instead burning in their lust towards one another (other men)
Paul describes this desire as “unseemly” again, not a good word to describe something in anyway.
Then we have “Receiving in themselves a recompense for their error which was meet”
Basically Paul is saying here as a consequence of their unnatural desires, they got what they deserved, which could be a host of things. My conjecture is that their recompense was not only being repulsive in the sight of The Lord but also things like colon perforation and stds. In a time where people had to drink wine because the water was not able to be properly sanitized…
According to the actual Bible, ALL scripture is God breathed and approved. So going by this logic it is safe to say that even though the apostle Paul wrote Romans, we can deduce that God, our Almighty Father finds unnatural attraction to someone of the same gender as vile, unseemly and against the nature of the way He created things. You would literally have to ignore these two verses and do Olympic level mental gymnastics to say that the Bible doesn’t outright condem rainbow behavior, because, well, it does.
God bless and be well, friends. Jesus loves you. He died and resurrected for you. Get to know Him today and be saved. 💕

His point that temptation is not sin, but desire is sin, is just not scriptural and also completely illogical. James clearly explains that temptation is defined as being enticed by your desires. The sin then comes when you give in to that temptation. Therefore, neither desires nor temptation are sinful, while lust and behavior can be sinful.
I hate that Christopher is so confidently spreading unbiblical misinformation on this topic.

    Have compassion.
    Wield the weapon of forgiveness.
Understand that each human was birthed with a soul, and Jesus wants each to chose Heaven, without being forced there, and that some folks may be mislead about their ideas about Christianity.
Attractions are feelings… feelings are varied, natural, human, and generally temporary, like thoughts. Understanding that pattern helps lead us to maturity.
Disciplining our feelings and thoughts by going to God for guidance from the smallest need to the largest … can help us flee from the temptations of the devil who intends to steer our lives away from harvesting God’s good in the form of blessing.
I’m no longer in bondage because when temptation rears around me, I have a savior I can call for to provide an out - in the moment.
If I’m disciplined enough to think critically about my own thoughts or feelings or simply pause for a beat - that’s all He needs to enter the space around me and help distance me from evil.
Just to know I offered Him that pause in or about to sin for His love to envelop me impresses upon Him my need and devotion toward Him.
That is true for any sin.
Why should the sin of homosexuality get special attention or follow separate rules than the rest of sins?
Temptation can be as benign as not taking care of the health of your body to being mean to a friend, or acting hateful toward them.
Why should we be any more mean towards one group of friends than we would be to any individual? Harboring thoughts we might be “better than” them or instructive towards them or not as bad a sinner… is in itself a temptation of ego.
Sin is separating from God, whatever form that takes or scale it seems to tempt us at. Separating us from the fruits of the spirit.
Temptation to yell at or harm a misbehaving child… to discipline him or teach him… because the world when he grows up will dole more severe punishments… or the devil will after life.
We can justify all kinds of sin. Can we face our own temptation?
When asked about this question, can we say, “I’m too busy oraying He’ll protect me from my own temptations to worry about yours. That’s between you and Him.”
Or maybe, “This question is above my pay grade or level of authority. Ask The Source, yourself, please.”
    Could we?
    Would they?

It’s not the worst sin? I didn’t realize that we ranked sins? It seems like he was trying to tiptoe around this issue.

The apologetics community? Well that's a new one.

The bad news is that we've each broken our relationship with our Creator. The gospel is that God is willing to effect a complete reconciliation. The question is: are you interested? I bring this up because lots of skeptics and other flavors of unbelievers are happy to run the hapless apologetic Christian through the gears, but from the very beginning the questioner is not interested in being reconciled. And that's a heart issue, not a lack of information about God or Christianity or morality. So save your breath. If they don't want reconciliation, then that's a good place to stop. IMHO

what does homosexuality actually do to harm God? If two men or two women love each other, marry each other, adopt children and raise them well, provide for them and love them, how does that diminish the kingdom of God? If you actually stop to ask yourself WHY God would outlaw homosexuality when it's a natural occurrence, it becomes a different debate. What is it that actually offends God? why does it offend him? why is it a sin? seriously, this isn't rhetorical, WHY IS HOMOSEXUALITY A SIN??? how does the actions of 2 consenting adults disrupt the kingdom of heaven? How can the kingdom of god be so fragile that the expression of love between 2 humans would corrupt it from within? if your only answer is "because the bible says so" or "because god says so" then you'r not actually answering the question - your passing the buck - your ignoring your conscience and hiding behind dogma.

‘Whenever we can, let’s just use biblical terminology.’ OK, how about ‘abomination’?

The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost…and no one seems to be able to accurately and surely define what that is.
Jesus was born out of the body of a sinner, and yet her body is considered as the Ark of the Covenant (New Covenant version), as she housed the Person of God, Jesus. So her sinfulness was covered by the Blood of Christ even before He was conceived. Then He lived with sinners, was raised by sinners, made disciples out of sinners, and died for sinners.
It seems to me, when considering the lives of Old Testament and earlier people, going back to Adam and Eve, that God did not put the importance on sin that the church forces over us.
Constantine’s collection of politically motivated books and letters, called out to be the basis of New Covenant Law, may not be the real or complete story of mankind’s religious and/or spiritual life, under the demands or suggestions of God.
Old Testament prophets had to be proven to be called God’s prophets, and kings had to be anointed, but Constantine and his Council of Nicaea meets no such scrutiny or approval.
In fact, God clearly says that there would come a time when men’s hearts would be replaced from stony to soft fleshy hearts, and His Laws, Statutes and Commandments would be written into their hearts.
But….we are under the control of a church structure that is very much like the Pharisees and Sadducee’s, that dictates very much outside of the Heart of God.
You infer indirectly that God hates the sinner, whereas God prefers that all be saved, and since we are all programmed sinners until the moment we die, because we did not have the Jesus’ privilege of being born sinless, then it is obvious that God is OK with our sin nature to some extent, and is prepared to ‘cover’ it completely once we are saved….or so we are told by Constantine’s Bible. Otherwise, what happens to Adam and Eve…they did not get knowingly saved by Jesus blood, but in ignorance, if we can believe what we have been given as truth.
So there are many questions about what is and is not the Truth about our Godly heritage, and we are all travelling through our life’s pathways endeavouring to be succeeding in all of our life’s ventures.
Those of us who have experienced the infilling of the Holy Spirit, are taught and fed by Him, and follow His promptings as they are revealed, and don’t need to be ordered around by men who have not been infilled.
The body of a person has many God given appetites that need, to various amounts, to be appeased.
You may brand these appetites as good or bad, but does God? Or are they opportunities to learn from, make the best choices in, for spiritual and physical growth.
Religion promotes many fears and barriers to growth and attaining knowledge that perhaps we are meant to learn from in our time as a human.
Basically, Jesus said (as written in Constantine’s Bible), that we are to love the Lord our God in every human way, and our neighbour as we love ourselves. And we are to do to others as we do to ourselves, and would like to be done to us.
That definition allows for a lot of human experience leading to an eternal life.
The church is not game to allow people this same privilege, as it takes away their power to dominate, just as with the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Old Testament Law was fulfilled by Jesus, and if we prefer to live by it, we will be judged by it, and will have to pay for our sins ourselves.
That does not lead to a good outcome in eternal life.
It appears that homosexuality is just a part of some lives and not of others.
The disciples viewed everything through the lens of Law, and had a hard time letting go of it.
I don’t think you can impose your own version of Christianity on everyone.
You need to be filled with the Holy Spirit as Cornelious’s household was to be sure of your correct doctrine.

Homosexuality is a sin. It goes against God's law. It is not for the same sexes to be together.

“Original sin”? “Sinful nature”? I don’t see those concepts in the Bible. In fact, I find them nonsensical.
