An in-depth demonstration of the production of abstract images using intentional camera movement techniques when photographing plastic-coated colored wires.
Thank you so much for sharing your technique, process, and information about the creation of these wonderful images, David! I am grateful for your willingness to be so open and sharing with the ICMPhotoMag community in the creation of this video for everyone to see how this is done and so they can explore, play, and experiment for themselves with this unique application of ICM. Your images are truly special, and your creative vision comes through in the work you create. I can't tell you enough how thankful I am that you have taken time to put this together to share with the ICM community! 🙂❤🙏
David I was captured by the first image I saw of this technique. Thank you for taking the time to put this thorough video together. It is complete and to the point, and I am looking forward to exploring this world of the abstraction of light.

Thank you! Nice clear instructions and very well organized. You've made this technique look easy to attempt (and warned us about the number of shots it might take us) so that it is intriguing rather than intimidating.

Hi David , just found and watched this tutorial, brilliant. We have a icm theme in our next years camera club competitions. I have a black box like yours what my husband made me. Can’t wait to have a go at this. Thank you for sharing this. Margaret Churchill
Hi David, fascinating to watch what you were able to achieve.. Husband made me a black box, so used that with coloured wire. Had some great photos, had one I liked, so reversed the photo it so I had a right and a left one, when I joined them up, it made a heart, well two actually. We had a competition in our camera club which we entered a panel of five, so I done two pairs and the centre one, and came third, was well chuffed. Thank you so much for sharing. Margaret Churchill
Thanks for sharing your "secrets" - and the inspirations, I#m going now to my fave homestore.
So cool!! Your work is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing the entire process, both camera and post-production techniques to produce beautiful images like yours. Brilliantly executed thank you👍
So impressed,,, I have over the last half hour been playing with your technique having bought in some materials which seems to work with your method. Later this evening I will trawl through and see if I have anything worthy of your marvellous tuition. If I do, even if it's just a small start, I'll make a short video and post a notation link to this tutorial of yours. Thanks David!
Amazing stuff!
Thank you for sharing this video. Your ICM images are fascinating:-)
Thank you for sharing your set up. I wish you success.
Thank you so much David, amazing work.
awesome video, been using ICM, for a few years, mostly landscapes, I like the zoom effect on trees, I am going to try tissue paper ICM and see how it goes. Thank you, very creative approach.
I applaud the very interesting and curious video. Can you tell me the type of wire used in the work?
Thank you for the inspiration.
Amazing fotography
So much appreciated...you sharing your knowledge..
Thabk you ❤! Amazing tutorial
thanks David. produced some interesting pics.
Thank you ever so much for sharing your stunning technique of this form of abstract photography. I cant wait to try it myself. Do I shoot in manual mode or one of the other shooting modes. What about the other settings on my camera. I use a Canon 700D DSLR camera
Hi David, many thanks for sharing your knowledge and videos. Due to circumstances at the moment I only can make photo's at home. You'r such a big help and inspiration at the moment. One question about the light. Is that via the machine on the right of the video? Best regards from The Netherlands, Jos
Thanks for sharing this inspiring technique. I just finished doing some icm shots using strings in dark background to experiment. I used a Canon mirrorless camera with 1.5 secs exposure. When I review my images in my laptop at 100% view in Lightroom, I saw a lot of hot pixels particularly in the dark area. 1.5 secs exposure time should not produce hot pixels. Have you come across this? What can I do to prevent this from happening?
Thank u.
Thanks for your generosity of time to explain your process. I like the imagery and would love to try it. My only concern was that there was a slight distortion in your voice. Sounds like your levels were too high at first and they were brought down in Post. Not sure. But thank you, I enjoyed it.
"Happy Accidents" !!! 30 min flew away in rapt attention....
Thanks you for sharing, great technique
just ordered some coloured wire!😀
Thank you, thank you!
What setting do you like to use? Shutter? Aperture?
Danke ❤
Cool idea!
Wow. Thank you for sharing. I am trying to find your webpage
What kind of light do you use here please?🤔
Dank U !
all sound to the left?
Thank you I'm coming to you from FB.
I’m going to give it a go
What gauge or thickness of wire do you use
I actually don‘t understand what means „telling a story“ when taking abstracts. Isn‘t it about aesthetic standards? Why should „thinking“ be brought into play here?🤔
sound gone off as soon as you start talking
Mr. Day great video,I learn a lot.thank you very much.
