    Homemade chalk paint is WAY less expensive than store bought. I have a powder I use and it’s completely effective! Beautiful work on this piece!!! ♥️

    A lot of work, but this dresser turned out great. I really like the colour. I think if you were to add some MCM legs, it would look amazing.

    This is beautiful! You really had a hard time with bleeding! I am flipping furniture for my personal use and I brush white primer when necessary, that allows you to see all the places you missed when prepping with woodfiller, before you paint. I use spray shellac on pieces that don't need primer only on the woodfilled areas and works fine! Thank you so much for charing all this tips! I will use your recipe for home made chalk paint in the near future! Thanks again.

      The first way I made it was with plaster of Paris. I did that for a while before I came across this recipe. I switched because the plaster of Paris would harden the paint when it was in storage. Otherwise I loved the plaster of Paris recipe too! ❤️

    I've never tried homemade chalk paint. It's just easier for me to buy it. As far as shellac, I always use shellac on any painted piece I do. I use clear if I plan on using dark paint or white if I'm doing light paint. I don't even chance it with possible bleed through. I love how this piece turned out.

      There is definitely a benefit from buying it already made! And I totally agree with you with the white and clear shellac. ❤️ thank you for the love!

    Hi. I dont use the shellac. I use dixie belle and kilz. I've always had one coat and go success.

    I used but brush on and works much much better...two light coats and that will take care of the bleed thru...I try the spray one and does not work as well as the brush on.

    • @ARayofSunlight
      @ARayofSunlight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I bet. I don’t have the patience to brush it on... and then have potential brush marks to deal with. So I prefer to spray it. But I would imagine that brushing it on and getting it into the wood grain would work better.

      @@ARayofSunlight the nice thing is that i never have brush strokes, goes smooth and dries super super fast...the brush will harden but not to worry, because once u deep it into the liquid sheelack soften again and it is ready to be used. Another advantage is that the product last longer, and it is cheaper than buying spray cans.
