In other words, bassoons became more and more expensive through the ages until the point that nobody can afford one anymore.

This is so good! So instructive and clear. The lower register of the baroque bassoon is amazing. Congratulations, it's a fantastic upload. Nice image and sound quality!

Some Bassoons have an Extra Key that allows you to play one more note lower than Bb down to Low A. They worked around the Intonation issues by tweaking the placement & size of the tone holes.

That baroque really does have a rich tone on the really notes.

Wow, I'd love to hear the quartet of bassoons in the Verdi Requiem played on original instruments! I just love the sound, as you say, of the early bassoon's bass notes :-) ;-)

I believe what you meant to say was, "thank your for this interesting demonstration of bassoon development."

To Sally: I watched you play in the Brandenburg Consort while watching the Bach Passions on EWTN! I totally love your upload - congrats on your move to the US!

I like the tone of the Mozart era bassoon the most, a very wonderful tone, I must say!

Nice job Sally. I'm always amazed how they could play Kv 191 on that Mozart era bassoon.

Why on earth would you use a plastic bassoon for a demonstration of the sound of a modern bassoon? I've played that exact model and it sounds awful; it's nothing like the sound of a proper wood bassoon.

Good point, very strange choice for a sound demo.

A good bassoon player will always be in demand by bands, but violin players are a dime a dozen.

The modern bassoon tone was awful. I really like the mozart era bassoon it had a nice warm tone .

For some reason, the Baroque sounds the best and the modern one sounds the worst. I guess that's because it's plastic while the other ones are wood, but the sound seems to get worse towards the changing time periods.
